I did say I got this off their forum

According to a post from Capita on their Technical forum the Installable ISO will include SQL 2012 but be based on the Summer 2 release. If they re-engineered it to be based on Autumn it would be delayed further. So they are focussing on getting this one completed as soon as they can. Also ETA is January.

If you don't mind the Windows 8 style interface for Windows Server 2012 go for that. (Just be aware Capita does not support Windows Server 2012R2 yet) However Windows Server 2008R2 is probably going to be cheaper. I would go for SQL 2008R2 as although SQL 2012 is supported it has a few niggles. Just be aware that Capita's drop date for SQL 2008R2 is Autumn 2014 release. If only a small amount of users are going to be on SIMS, take a look at Express edition of SQl. Its free but limits you to a database size of 10GB's, 1GB of RAM and 1 CPU. If you are going to have a large amount you might want to have a look at Standard. You have to pay a license fee and you are limited to 4 CPU's. I would recommend at single disk or small array on RAID 1 for the operating system. For the databases, an array of at least 3 disks on RAID 5 for the databases. If a disk fails you will have reduced performance but no data loss. Hopefully this is helpful and not too rambling

[sims] [SOLUS3] -Fully SOLUS3 and becoming an Academy? Beware!
Ghostgame replied to Rawns's topic in MIS Systems
Cheers, will remember to do that for next time. On the plus side I do now have a school with a squeaky clean S3. -

Yes, that works as long as the agents are picked up by the UI. -

Yep - probably not the best way to do it but probably the fastest way to do it on smaller sites. -

In the My Site details re-register with the wrong password. Then you can change the My Site details like postcode and Establishment number. -
[sims] [SOLUS3] -Fully SOLUS3 and becoming an Academy? Beware!

Your in for a bit of hurt putting it bluntly. Means you gotta re-register SOLUS3, so you end up with a new Solus3.Keys.DeploymentService.Public file. Means the UI's key does not match the Solus3.Keys.DeploymentService.Public thats on every agent. Means you gotta reinstall each agent on that site. Have also found that you have to do a new reinstall of SOLUS3. If they have stopped using a SIMS module (e.g. FMS) you got to rip out the SQL database for S3 and start again. Good luck, mate. I'm trying to sort out my third school that has become an academy and its a lot of work. This is a known issue with SOLUS3 which hopefully they are starting to look at. -
Possibly. Check your SIMS settings in the SIMS Channel. If any of those are wrong the updates won't show. You might also need your LA to authorise it to you, if you get any SIMS support from them.

Have you had a look at Solus3?

Perhaps its not as bad as we fear. The first game, sure its going feel long but remember the xbox allows you to install/download games while you are playing another game. Im holding off as the no native 1080p is the bigger deal breaker for me. Im not sure I will get a console as my PC is holding up well. The only thing that may tempt me to get the xbox is when halo and destiny come out. I probably won't get a PS4 as I am more invested in the Xbox.

Is there any error messages for the workstations not updating?

PC - just discovered the joys of commander mode

Just in from Capita The things that have struck me as being noteworthy: SOLUS2 support has been extended to include 2 further releases. Support for SQL 2008 and R2 have been extended for another 2 releases. Office 2013 support starts after the Spring 2014 release.

But does Sunny have a grudge with you? lol You have 5 of his tags to his nil of yours
-
Sounds like tonight is going to be a good night to get in on the game Rawns and Sunnyknight grudge match lol
-
My tags are a common item. Sunnyknights are more rare though (Rawns might disagree though XD )

Sigh, yeah. Still trying to get the COD mentality out of my system. Agree with CAM. Had to unload an entire inventory of rockets into a APC just to get smoking.

[sims] [SOLUS3] - CR to Uninstall SIMS/FMS/Discover
Ghostgame replied to Rawns's topic in MIS Systems
I thought it did it already when you removed the target from the agent or uninstalled the agent? Voted. -
I would like to join as well. Standing by a recon with a rocket launcher while they do nothing but snipe is a bit of a pain.
-
I take it SOLUS3 is not an option?

Feeling the urge to play Bioshock again Edit: Playing it under the sea in an underwater base would make it more amazing (The wi-fi would let me connect to steam )

Have just started collecting the Tau. Nearly finished my 600pt army to a level where I can get playing. Going to start aiming for 1000pts soon.

Key starting with 1db350cf1106 is to do with the S3 agents. Have found sometimes if not deleted or user permissions are not given that you can't reinstall the S3 agent sometimes. Key starting with 1728bae20fb3 seems to do with the S3 UI modules. Seems if the a person or group does not have the right permissions to that key they can't access the S3 settings for the SIMS/FMS/Discover channel. I don't know if they effect anything else but this is what I have worked out.

Try detaching the database and then attaching it again using DbAttach. If that don't work, enable named pipes and TCP/IP in SQL Server Configuration Manager
