From a SIMS perspective, if you have SOLUS3 you might run into problems as the Agent config file on the workstation has the domain in it. Only way around it I know is that you need to uninstall all your SOLUS3 Agents off your workstations before you change the domain name. Once you have changed the domain name, check the SOLUS3 system settings and channel settings to make sure the old domain is not there. Then install all the agents again on your workstations. If you don't do that you end up having to go around every workstation changing the config file for SOLUS3.

DDoS on EVE Servers
Ghostgame posted a topic in Eve Online Capsuleers's Eve Online Capsuleers Topics
Seems like there has been a massive attack on the Eve Online servers. Link from Kotaku Looks like it has been down for 16 hrs so far. Might be a good idea to change account password? -
Thats the plan

Haha, would have made things much easier for me to explain. Don't like the idea of two instances. Feels like there is more chance for things to go wrong Would still do it if it was requested.

I hate Microsoft. Imagine this conversation down a phone - me and the customer both ended up confused. Have a Windows 2012 Server OS but have SQL 2008R2 installed.
-
I don't think they have said that it does not work. just that it is not supported yet. Everything is supported on Windows Server 2012 OS now that the Spring update is out. Its just that for SQL 2012 Discover, SOLUS3, etc is not suppported till Summer. So you could have a new SIMS Server 2012 but with SQL 2008R2 installed. When the summer update comes out, upgrade to SQL 2012. Resource number for technical roadmap: 17910

I would advise getting it working as Capita are dropping support for SOLUS2 in a years time.
-
Could you let us know what Capita's response is?
-
Deploy the latest SIMS upgrade before rolling the agents out to all your workstation. That will make sure that SOLUS3 deploys out the correct version. Im not sure what else SOLUS3 looks at to find what version of SIMS/FMS/Discover to deploy out to agents but I guess its whatever version of SIMS/FMS/Discover is on the server. Do you know if the SIMS module on the server was the Autumn 2012 (7.148) version whne you rolled out the agents?

Meh, block them, give bad rep and several headshots later the problem goes away.

Xbox is no longer a games console but a media hub. If you want a dedicated games console get a PS4.

Yeah Sony have tried to steal Microsofts thunder with a tease but they should have done that in Feb. Speculation didn't really last that long as they did not really tease much and it was probably summed up best at the end with Square Enix who said your going to have to wait till E3. If they had done this teaser in Feb we would still be speculation. Microsoft seems to have generated more speculation about this new console without actually having said anything. That tells me that Microsoft are doing a better play at the marketing game than what Sony have been doing.

Rubbish, if you going to announce a new console you should at least give your target audience an idea of what the new console is going to look like. If Microsoft come out with even just a concept of what the next Xbox is going to look like, they will gain an advantage over Sony. I am aware that the Kinect 2 is going to be bundled with the next Xbox. What I want to know is do I need the Kinect "always on" to play a game on the Xbox or can I turn it off. Is the Kinect going to be a physical part of the console or is it separate? I do hope they go light on the Kinect games. Yes the Kinect is good but its more a party piece. Its not really good for anything else. I am expecting them to tease new IP's today or at least reveal what IP's will be coming out. Will be interested to see about backward compatibility as well

There is a few things that I would like to see or hear about at this conference: -the console (didn't really understand why Sony did not show the PS4 console at their announcement event) -how the kinect is going to impact the console. -some new exclusive IP's. -backward compatibility?

SOLUS 3 Deployment Server Database -- Error 1722
Ghostgame replied to Sagetbh's topic in MIS Systems
Does the database exist in the DATA folder? If it does delete it and then reinstall the SOLUS3 database. -
[sims] Best way of allowing Staff to update SIMS?
Ghostgame replied to Sam_Brown's topic in MIS Systems
To be honest, its better to bite the bullet now and get all the issues out of the way instead of a year down the line when you are fighting all the other schools for help with SOLUS3. Capita are planning to drop support for SOLUS2. Planned to be dropped after Spring 2014 -
[sims] Best way of allowing Staff to update SIMS?
Ghostgame replied to Sam_Brown's topic in MIS Systems
Do I dare mention SOLUS3? -
2 ways which I have come across is: -stop the SQL service and only start it up when you want to apply the patch/upgrade/etc. -disconnect the network cable to the server so no-one on the network can get on it (might not be a good idea if your internet connection goes through it first)

[sims] Installing SIMS from Solus3 on non-domain member PCs
Ghostgame replied to mtillbrook's topic in MIS Systems
@Aelfwine Stupid question I know but have you tried right clicking on the .bat file and selecting 'run as administrator'? -
Do your users have permissions to access the Documentation folder?

[sims] SIMS Document Server no longer accessible from workstations.
Ghostgame replied to IT_Man_Dan's topic in MIS Systems
That's on your server. You don't need to put that on your workstations as only your SIMS Document server needs it The Document Server settings in SIMS.net points at that config file on the server. -

Ghostgame replied to IT_Man_Dan's topic in MIS Systems
You can find a config file for your doc storage in C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net Document Server to see if something has changed randomly. Any changes you make to the config file, restart the SIMS .net Document Service in Services.msc. Other than that, reinstall the SIMS Document Server. -
Yeah, the combat was a bit lack lustre. Some of the enemies where designed really well but the weapons themselves where a bit boring and how the enemies behaved was boring in the extreme. Even with rails the combat did not really liven up Loved the game but one of my impressions of the game was that it felt like it could have been a bit longer. The main strength of Bio-shock Infinite is its setting and story line. The start of that game at the lighthouse is incredible, had me wondering what the heck was going on and left me so uneasy.
