Have any of the SOLUS3 services stopped?

Link from Kotaku about the new xbox. Might be just the same article that's on TechRadar but oh well. ...and post 87.

I have not played it but reviews say its the worst in the series. I use Kotaku and Gametrailers for my reviews. They could be wrong.

That sounds more like its down to the users security rather than microsoft. We have not (yet) had a hack on the scale of what Sony had with PSN. And Microsoft ignoring blatent fraud is down to microsoft, not the XBLA. PSN may be free but its absolutely horrible to use. Had no experience of Nintendo. And of course PC is the best.

I have no issue with paying for xbox live. It helps fund a good secure system and pays for future add-ons. What I don't want is to pay for that, pay them to activate my second hand game and then pay the publisher to activate multiplayer.

Its going to be a bit much if Microsoft/Sony say you have to pay a subscription fee for multi-player in general and then put full content or game activation passes on top of that for second-hand games, especially if the publisher also requires you to buy a pass. Thats the bit im not looking forward to.

They may be required but I have a nasty feeling they will make sure that they get a cut of profit from second hand games (e.g passes to play the game online) You already have this with EA. You want to play multiplayer on you second hand Mass Effect3? You going to have to buy a pass before you can do that

In my biased opinion I would go for the iPhone every time. My last iPhone (3Gs) lasted me 3-4 years and I upgraded to the 5 due to the 3Gs becoming unsupported on alot of new apps. Would say it is alot more manageable price with a contract and depending on what size of memory you get, you will still need to pay something upfront.

Maybe Solus3.5 will address all our issues.

I don't really get that cos as far as im aware the patch applies changes to the SQL database.

Just installed Windows 8 at home. My first thought is, how the heck am I going to talk someone through a SIMS solution?

Found out how to fix it and what caused it. The Autumn 2012 update did not update some files in the Binn folder. These where the files that B2B uses Fix: Delete the following files; BaseInterfaces.dll BaseUserInterfaces.dll BBEntities.dll BBProcesses.dll NonUIB2B.exe And reinstall the latest version of SIMSSQLApplicationSetup.exe. Reset B2B as normal and it should work.

Hopefully the next version of SOLUS3 will iron out alot of the issues and make it more stable.

Of interest (to me anyway) support for Office 2007 for the SIMS client is being dropped at the Spring 2014 update.

Its available on Supportnet as Resource Id: 17910 A list of the main changes is highlighted on page 3. Of particular note is the change of support for Discover, SOLUS3 and InTouch on SQL2012 along with the SQL Migration utility to assist with the process to be provided from Summer 2013.

When doing you CV put your work experience\time working ahead of your qualifications. Also you could compile a portfolio to have proof that you are competent in the skills you have.

Ohh, this is why its changed colour. Ive been trying to go through all the settings to change the colour to something that does not make my eyeballs bleed.

Have an issue with B2B where it cannot send any suspense be cause it cannot generate the file. Error is "Student ULN is missing" Seems to effect only primaries as they are not required to have ULN (apparently). Be interested to know if anyone else has come across this problem and how they fixed it? It's already been logged with Capita so waiting on them. Will post when I get a fix.

Had a trawl through the release notes, not there Probably need to contact Capita to get the password.

Is the Sims.Solus3.Agent.AgentService.exe.config file correct? Sometimes the port numbers change back to strange default numbers.

1) Install to the server. When SOLUS3 is setup you add the workstations/laptops in SOLUS3 as SIMS and/or FMS agents. That will allow updates to go out and install SIMS and FMS if its not already there. 2)I never have had any problems from SOLUS3 not installing properly. Most of the problems have come later (from my user error) when messing around with the settings in SOLUS3. Worst case scenario would be restoring from a backup. Otherwise just uninstall SOLUS3 from server and uninstall the SOLUS3 agents from the laptops. Extra Advice (Nicked this off a post Rawns did cos its good advice, link here): - When you're authorising releases ensure that you select the correct release! (e.g. select 'SIMS 2012 Summer 4' and not 'SIMS Database Summer 2012 Update') - Ensure you've got a decent GPO setup for the firewall exceptions (or disable it completely!) - Ensure DNS is 100% - a dodgy DNS will play havoc with S3 as it will always resolve the hostname. - Use group policy to install .net 4 - S3 can install this but may cause restarts without warning - You have to release at least 1 update per channel in order to install new workstations - i.e. once your server is setup, release the current version of SIMS, FMS and Discover before adding any clients. This will bring S3 up to the correct version. When adding new workstations, they will now install automatically (provided a sims.ini + connect.ini is defined). - When browsing the AD within a channel, any workstations within AD Groups will not appear. You must navigate to the topmost OU folder to make these appear (hope that makes sense). - When registering a new site you may receive an error (Violation of Primary Key...) - Just try again and the site will register. - S3 isn't good at telling you when it's unable to reach the internet - If something isn't working as it should, ensure that proxy is correct and that internet is working. - Delete the old setups folder only if you intend to never ever use SOLUS2 again for things like patches or license activators. Some patches are still not available/auto-deployable in SOLUS3 and it's quicker to just bash them out using SOLUS2 (if you have an automatic routine to in place to apply them!), but this requires a "Setups" folder. May be worth leaving the Setups folder there but deleting/moving the contents instead to "encourage" you to stop installing SIMS in the old way

If you got SOLUS3 make sure that the agent is not included in the image. If you do it will cause a heck of a load of problems. SIMS .net\FMS modules can be included in the image no bother. Just make sure that the connect.ini, fmsconnect.ini and SIMS.ini are all correct before you include them in the image. If you want to just install SIMS .net and FMS and not include them in an image, just run SIMSINST.exe (for SIMS .net) and FMSINSt.exe (for FMS). Just have a correct copy of the connect.ini and fmsconnect.ini to put into the SIMS .net and FMSSQL folders after the installation. (SIMS.ini not required as the inst.exe's will create that and fill it in) These installers should be in your Capita drive (ours is S: ) in a folder called Setups.
