If you have a SupportNet account with Capita, KB91561 might help If you don't have one, sign up for one as it can be very handy when needing to solve an issue quickly for SIMS. Basically the KB says that it is due to your logo being outside of the page boundary. You need to edit your user defined template and bring the logo in closer. Should fix the report.- 7 replies

Are you using the express edition of SQL2008? When you hit preview when reporting, does the report show with no errors? -
This idea was a solution to a problem I was getting with SOLUS3 on at a school. Basically the wanted SOLUS3 on a number of curric laptops (groan) We found that putting the IP address in S3 agent search resolved the name from the different domain and it could be added. You could not install the agent as you got the error "Unable to get IP address" It was by installing the SOLUS3 agent manually and then changing the server name with IP address in S3 agent config file that we got it to work properly. I'm not sure how they have their domains set up but this was the only way we could get the S3 agent to show up in the S3 console to add it into the SIMS channel.

This is where my knowledge falls short not being in charge of a schools network. My understanding is if the workstation can ping the server on another domain, then this idea should work. Seems like I need to do a bit more research. Cheers @Rawns My spelling is bad even with the help of a computer.

Apart from not installing it or giving it a boot in the funderments, came across a way to make life easier when trying to install the SOLUS3 agent on workstations on a school which does not have a domain or has separate domains (e.g admin and curric). Thought I would share the knowledge (even if it is simple) seeing as SOLUS3 is eventually going to become the only way to update SIMS software. 1.Export the agent installer as usual from S3 System Settings. 2.Edit the Solus3AgentInstaller.bat file. 3.Replace the server name and domain with the server IP address. 4.Use the .bat file to install the S3 agent manually. Once installed on the workstation you should be able to see it in the S3 console and add it into a channel. As usual make sure you have firewall exceptions or the firewall turned off. Quite good if someone wants to put a S3 agent on at least 20+ curriculum workstations. If anyone has a better way of putting S3 agents on workstations please post

You will need your databases if your doing a SIMS migration (I'm assuming your keeping the domain name the same). Just make sure that if you change the server name, that it is also changed in the connect.ini. You can install SQL on the new server and with a new SA account, attach the databases with dbAttach. As for the teachers doing attendance, its just a case of installing the SIMS .net client on your teachers workstations and making sure that SIMS .net can communicate with your SIMS server (if you have two domains, you put the IP address in connect.ini file instead of the server name).

+1 I don't think this is a marketing ploy. There is going to be a day one patch to disable alot of the features on the Xbox One (Link). Personally I'm disappointed but it may have been too much, too soon.

Must admit its been a long while since I have been on the xbox. Playing ME3 again. Ah well, I kinda get what Microsoft are doing. The gamer in me agrees with all of you but the person in me that wants a bit more out of my xbox thinks the lot of you are a bit narrow minded. The military where always going to be shafted by the Xbox One as soon as they talked about cloud storage, verification, etc. Unless Microsoft comes up with something that allows the military access without that 24 hr verification they are a bit stuck.

Good grief, talk about misconstruing. You need a connect at least once every 24hrs (and who does not have an xbox with gold membership connected practicably permanently to the internet as soon as they have it on). Since they are doing cloud connection, storage, etc for the first time for a console I'm not too surprised that they are being this tight. Would not surprise me if they soon start relaxing that at some point.

With these prices I'm feeling abit ripped off by Microsoft and Sony. We are going to be paying an almost 1:1 with the the dollar. While I would like to get the next generation of console, I feel like I am being priced out.

Make sure that the server has an agent installed on it and is designated as a SIMS workstation in S3 (S3 needs to know which workstations have SIMS or FMS). Check the firewall on the workstations to check that it is not blocking the upgrades. Had a similar issue on this post.

Yeah, even I am starting to look at this and think the PS4 is looking a bit more attractive Still going to wait till E3 before I make my mind up. Details on the PS4 are still vague

Ok, Microsoft have just answered a bunch of questions around Xbox One. Link is here. Big points: -Xbox needs be connected to the internet once every 24hrs if you want to play games, even single player only games. -You can turn the Kinect off or even customise what it sees and does. -You can have used games but that depends on the permission of the publisher whether that game can become a used game. -Up to ten members of your family can log in and play from your shared games library on any Xbox One. Seems to be more bad news than good here unfortunately.

@Irazmus Why not use SOLUS3 to put the SIMS and FMS applications on the machines once they have been imaged? SOLUS3 I guess. Its not totally silent (prombt box comes up letting the person know its gonna happen) but you can deploy out of hours.

Yes, you can but I would not recommend it with SOLUS3. SOLUS3 already causes me enough issues without adding DNS trickery into the mix.

Possibly. If you can get it just to change the deployment server in the config file. You can't copy 1 config file and then past it on every workstation as the config file has a unique GUID number for that workstation. Uninstalling the SOLUS3 agent can be done remotely from the S3 console anyway. (Sorry to go off on a tangent)
