  1. Bluetooth doesn't really work like that. You can get a rough idea with signal strengths I think but there is no tracking like app available afaik. Would be cool I admit to track the little blighters down like this but I don't think it's possible
  2. If your clients can run a startup script from group policy then netsh interface ip set address "Local Area Connection" dhcp will do the job as long as they're not wireless. I think if they are wireless you need to change 'local area connection' to 'Wireless Network Connection'
  3. I set this up when it was in beta and it was a little clunky going through all the setup screens. However, that was about 2 years ago so I don't have any recent experience with it although if they feel confident enough to charge I would say it's worth a demo
  4. None To expand a bit 64 bit is only of use if you have more than 4 Gb memory or 64bit only programs that will use this memory and processor optimally. If you don't 32 bit is fine and is what is install on all of our workstations. Mine is 64 bit but for the above reasons (I have 6Gb and Photoshop 64bit) edit: that might actually be 3Gb memory not 4
  5. I reset the router about half a dozen time after each change of the mtu. This is an older 15Gb model too and have 2 wireless adapters giving same result
  6. Another problem now then as the Belkin router has replaced the home hub. Will try with cable first and see but is it really necessary for x-box to be so restrictive over this (or is there a hack to prevent it)
  7. Went to help my cousin's son set up his X-Box 360 but ran into a problem when testing the network connection He has BT Broadband connected to a Belkin Wireless N Router and gets a fair consistent 6 Mb/s connection which is quite excellent for Norfolk, but when the console tests the connection to X-Box Live we get an error about the MTU not being high enough. I've set the MTU on the router at various different levels from 1364 (the setting that the x box wants as the lowest) all the way up to 1500 (maximum). I don't really fancy setting it at +1 intervals and testing each one so does anyone know what causes this other that the X-Box being another piece of fiddly microsoft tat (sorry but have a PS3 myself and it just works)
  8. Sorry that was done in photoshop but I'm sure it should be possible with imagemagick.
  9. Could you do a bit of simple feathering with the school images and save them as png I've had a little play edit: Didn't have the individual elements so some of the background is cloned
  10. I had this too but couldn't be bothered to fix, just reimaged the faulty computers (although it was only 2 and both were msi wind netbooks)
  11. That is very cool especially the reversi window still looking old even on windows 7.
  12. Did you call him Eric!
  13. Mine is about 2 min mark on 100Mb. Using the Litetouch.wim image created from the MDT workbench instead.
  14. Fantastic. works very well however if you look at the comments on this page you will see this which works fine. Saves a lot of time with scripting to delete files that get recreated every time the student logs in.
  15. Had one of these this morning. Was easily removed with malwarebytes. The most annoying part was having to kill the {random.exe} process remotely. Always a different file name so no script is able to locate it.
  16. I'm a little paranoid on this and I back up the whole system with windows server backup on a daily incremental. The DBAttach runs as well to give me a backup of the database too.
  17. **Bump** Can anybody help with this
  18. Can you put this registry entry into Group Policy Preferences instead or run it as a startup script?
  19. Just got in to work after getting my car recovered to a garage on a low loader. Suspension snapped yesterday evening luckily while I was still only doing 20 mph having just turned out of my road. Had a bit of hassle with my recovery company who say they will only take the car 15 miles from the house. Now, I live in the middle of the Norfolk countryside, so how many garages do you think there are in a 15 mile radius that I would trust to do this work on my car and who would give me a courtesy car? That's right none. So I've had to pay an excess just to get to a garage I use regularly. This seems a little silly to me as surely they should take into account the location. To top it all off when I do finally get to work I have a list of jobs as long as my arm that someone thinks should have been done this morning. Anyway hopefully the car will be fixed by Monday as I've been told this is quite a common problem. It's nice to vent
  20. I think your best option is to test one that isn't broken if you have one. I've lost my multimeter at the moment otherwise I'd test one for you.
  21. I don't know if this is possible as searches yield no results. I have a xibo server with a wordpress installation running alongside to feed rss to the screens. This works fine as it is, but, I would like to generate a single rss in wordpress that only displays certain categories on certain days so I don't need to create 5 indentical templates in xibo to handle this. For example I want all items in the Monday category to be fed on a Monday etc by adding a single feed in to the xibo screen. Is this possible or am I trying to save myself too much work
  22. It works fine. Haven't had any issues yet. It looks in the registry to find the profilelist key which is the same as it has been since NT
  23. I use delprof.exe set to run on a shutdown script because I was getting the same problem. I think the switches are /q /t 0 or something to delete all profile created on the day the script is run but I can pm the details if you want me to find them EDIT: I have PM'ed the relevant switches to you
  24. I've got this working in 2008R2 WebServer. When you enable windows authentication make sure you look at the advanced properties and disable Extended Protection. Not sure if this is a feature on Server 2008. Also I needed to enable windows authentication on the bookingsystem directory as well as the root for the application. EDIT Actually it doesn't work (Damn you cached credentials)
