  1. Try the portable version. Blender Portable | PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB, portable and cloud drives I have it running on a network share with no problems
  2. Good idea I suppose. I kind of felt up for a challenge for the summer holiday though so might give it a go. At least if it goes wrong I have a bit of time to revert to a pre holiday state
  3. 1603 errors are usually caused by files in use that the msi can't close automatically, but that userguide would be very useful. is it on this site somewhere??
  4. webcam xp. Free version will allow one source only simple one click to take screenshot. New version is available but I think it's still beta.
  5. Under security setting in group policy (Computer settings/Policies/Windows settings) there are network list manager policies. You can check that one of those isn't set or force your domain to display the schools name instead see screenshot as I had a similar list of networks
  6. I think your problem is IEAK. I think that it applies all it's setting at the start of IE every time or at least on first start in order to prevent any third party customisation from applying. I think you need to find the custom settings file that it applies (Proxy.ins or something) and remove that or generate a whole new IE build/reinstall a standard IE and use group policy to set it up.
  7. Worked for me. I'm thinking it has something to do with the way eyes perceive colour, sort of the same effect you get if you get dazzled by car headlights or the sun and you can see shadows of red blue and green for quite a while when you close your eyes. I'm sure there is a science type bod on here that can give us the real reason
  8. The only way I can think of is too create a transform with the office customise tool thingy that does nothing but recreate the shortcuts in the locations you want. Then run a repair with this file. I think the command will be something like setup.exe /repair /adminfile "custom setup file"
  9. Looking at your original reason for needing this. Can you teach your staff to export the marksheets (I guess that's what we are doing) and edit them because then even if they save them in xls format you can still resave them as xml for import. We do it like this and although you always get the odd one who exports the wrong type it usually works ok.
  10. I've just noticed this bit but you can only display 255 of these in a cell. Does it do the same if you copy from the entry bar at the top or is this what you mean?
  11. look like you are out of luck. Maximum text field size is 255 characters as stated here Excel specifications and limits - Excel - Office.com Figures for 2010 but text field length has been the same since office xp maybe even earlier. You'll have to write less i think
  12. Try right clicking the cells and setting them to word wrap. You should see all the text in the cell s then and not the # correction: sorry 2007 the wrap text function is in the home tab
  13. Can you use gpresult on one of the example.local 2 machines and find out which DC it's getting it's policies from. If there is a difference it could be a replication issue maybe. (bit confused by this though) If the connection is set to public have you disabled the firewall on this profile as well? Win 7 has three profiles domain public and something else but I have the firewall disabled on all three for domain desktops.
  14. dhcp or dns would be my first guess. Do you have 2 domain controllers and are they both on the same active directory schema? What server version are you running?
  15. One issue unless I'm just being a bit thick (first day back after half term and all that) GPresult: where does it save it's file. The command box just flashes up and disappears again edit: in fact it flashes up help text so not working???
  16. I've not had a problem here. VLSC and technet ok
  17. Forgot that bit, thanks.
  18. You only need to purchase a Windows license if you intend to run any version of Windows on the computers. If you are going to use a free os or you have a volume license for a commercial linux (ex. RedHat) then you won't need a Windows license (as windows won't be used). Be aware though that if you ever want to put Windows on then you'll need to purchase one as you only get upgrade media on a schools agreement. I'm not so sure about the new model of licenses from microsoft but this won't affect linux os's.
  19. What no "I can take it or leave it!" option
  20. MRBS with some modifications Spiceworks for asset management and helpdesk Wisesoft active directory bulk user spreadsheet Print manager plus Enterprise Group Policy for software WDS with MDT 2010 for images

  22. Try this http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-7/42683-remove-network-navigation-pane.html and a little search through the forum helps too
  23. Were these installed with CD or WDS/System Centre
  24. I just have a small toolbox something like this Stanley 1-92-850 26" Professional Toolbox It's not that large but you get the idea
  25. Does it say why they fail? You can try About System Center Updates Publisher. It will let you import the updates to an existing server
