Does all the software reside on the same network share? ie \\server\installs or something similar. You can find out by looking at the location on a software package. As there are lots of GPOs with lots of software this may be the easiest way to find everything. Of course, if your software is all over the place this can be difficult. It was a problem here until I managed to centralise everything and it may be worth doing if you are going over to win 7/2008R2 anyway

I have seen something similar before that was due to the boot image only being 32 bit. I had to enable the 64 bit boot image even if I wasn't using it to get it to work on some motherboards. I have to admit I've only ever used MDT to add drivers as it gives you a nice GUI and will only inject the drivers it needs for the motherboard. It takes a little bit of setting up but it's worth it for the time it saves. If you feel like giving it a go it may save a couple of headaches. If you have a read only desktop folder then your first option could be 'Don't save settings at exit' gpo located in User configuration\Desktop. Other than that I think it can only be done by a mandatory profile. You can set the icons to auto arrange and view by date or name and then whenever they move one it should spring back exactly where it came from. If you set this when you create the mandatory profile the setting will persist over all the users and disabling the right click will mean that it can't be changed.

Am I right in thinking you want to delete all files in a hidden folder? Take a look at this page Del - Delete Files In particular the following lines

are you adding the 32-bit as well as the 64 bit drivers?

That will be the reason but there is a way round it del /A:H {file} Should do it

yes because I think it's by design. You can do it with google chrome (right click/copy image) and it will paste directly into word but I think IE and FF handle the images as links because that's what they are. You only get the full picture by clicking on the link in google images and going to the site that hosts it. Once there you can right click on the overlayed image and copy and paste as usual. I've sort of come up with the folowing. If you add a picture of your choosing to the background layer you can then export it as a jpg for use as desktop wallpaper wallpaper template.zip

As far as wallpaper goes I always pick a pretty image from google and superimpose a standard logo and info on to that. Changed every month and really easy to do. I'll play about with my template for it and send it over so you can see what you think.

How far will you come to collect stuff? I've had someone come out to me from Anglesey before as long as I could guarantee him a Transit load. From Wales to Norfolk is an impressive trek for taking stuff away for free!!

Can I ask what you are using this drive map for? Is it the sims setups directory? if so try changing the sims.ini and connect.ini files to point directly to the server rather than the redirect.

No manual. Can't even find one online. The only thing I know about them is they are Abtus CAT-GA11T/A. I have managed to get a signal from laptop direct to TV with vga but I will try other combinations of sender/receiver as well. Many thanks for help

I have tested these with a multimeter for correct voltage.

Is this simply if it shows "no signal" or not? I think I'm being dumb here but can you elaborate? How do I test for the signal without the splitter on? This bit I get (Always use known good to test. I learnt that much with troubleshooting )

We had a digital signage solution installed for us from a company who we later fell out with due to differences of opinion. The TV's are still up though as they were purchased so I thought I would have another go at getting them to display. The pc that used to run the display software had motherboard failure but I think there may have been a power spike which took it out. I have XIBO set up on a server here and a display pc connected to a vga splitter which is in turn connected to 3 vga over ethernet senders. It appears that these are doing nothing as no signal is being picked up at the other end. Does anyone know of an easy way to test these? I have checked the network cable runs and there is not problem with them but I'm not sure how to check the senders/receivers. I tried taking them out and putting them between a pc and a monitor but I get a no signal response. Does this mean they are duff? What would you suggest replacing them with? I would really like to get these going again as they were good while they lasted and it was the easiest way to get messages around the school.

Keeping it simple I've just got rid of the jaggedness a bit Not too good at the actual design changes but have added a slight bevel to it above or with a drop shadow? edit: I've used Times New Roman for the font as it seems to be true to original

Do you know what font that was? Might help to tidy up the roughness of the text

Complete redesign launched today. No warning as usual. Looks ok but when used on a laptop connected to a projector with a 1024x768 screen it's unusable. Glad we are moving away from this soon. Going to a moodle VLE hosted on site. I think the opt out of LEA services is probably the best thing to happen to us since becoming an academy

I agree with CyberNerd. I don't think there has ever been a situation where I have to warn people at short noticed of a server shutdown. I announce all maintenance on the helpdesk and if they choose not to see it and they are still on a computer at the scheduled reboot time then hard luck. I only ever schedule the reboots for out of school time (usually 9 or 10 pm) so anyone still here then needs to get a life!

Just logged in a few test students but I get a access denied message for creating the appdata folder. Do you have your permissions for that share so I can check they are right. I have students with change permissions on the share and modify for the ntfs.
