Randomly some users are losing their system icons - no clock, network or sound icons. I don't have anything set in GPO, as far as I know, and there is no consistency with regards to who it happens to or machines. Users have no access to Taskbar settings to turn them off. We are running Win 10 21H2.

If she has gone, they are unlikely to announce it until the 6 o'clock news. At the very least, they will allow William's children to leave school - the press were going to be there anyway with it being their first day at that school. The day of the funeral will likely be a national holiday

Does running a Group Policy results scan show anything?

Do you have a central store set up for your admx files? https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-client/group-policy/create-and-manage-central-store You may have each server looking to it's own admx files, and they are out of sync.

I can't turn off the right click menu on pinned apps on the start menu - particularly the "open file location" option. I'm sure it's a registry tweak somewhere, but I can't see where - anyone have any idea? I do have the "prevent access to context menus on the start menu" GPO enabled - this works on "All Apps" but not on the pinned ones.

I've got this working - a computer GPO to hide the Group2 and Group3 folders in the default user location, and a user GPO at student or staff level to hide both for students and just group3 for staff in the %username% location works perfectly. All I have to do now is prevent the right click menu on pinned items - anyone have any ideas?

Does anyone know how to manage the right click on start menu on Win11? On Win10 I had a GPO that hid shortcuts in C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\winX\ depending on what we wanted users to see. That doesn't appear to be working on Win11, although the folders still exist.

Whenever I have this reported it's an issue with the way the user has sorted the email. Check the filter.

If a student is given enough time in a classroom to smash a window, I'd say they have bigger problems than where the server room is.

I use our site staff... To be fair, we have an excellent Site Staff team, who are always happy to help. In return their IT issues are fixed quickly.

I use Power Automate to add a row to an excel spreadsheet, use the spreadsheet to do the maths, then update a field in the list. We reset manually in September.

I do the same - a manager's e-mail field on the form. It's amazing how many people don't know their manager's e-mail address, or can't spell their name.

You should be able to run a start up script by GPO, to disable Windows RE. SharePoint lists, with powerapps creating the form, and powerautomate in the background sending the emails. You can set the list permissions so users can only see the forms they have submitted, and give approvers permissions to see all.

I use links in the Top Link bar - I have a link back to the home page which I've renamed "Faculties", then each subject has a link below this in a drop down menu. Likewise, I have a link to a staff only page, which I've renamed "Staff Resources" and all staff only links are in a drop down there. I should note - the home page has links to useful sites using the "promoted links" widget, two separate lists, one visible to all, one just to staff. There are also some "useful information" libraries, again with access set as required, and a staff only room booking calendar, so staff can book resources such as meeting rooms. Create a sub site for each subject, the subject teachers can have write permissions, you can create separate libraries for staff only and student facing. It's worked here for years. That's not to say the Teams solution won't work, of course.
