I wonder if it's your web filtering then? If I need to test whether something will work at home I tether it to my phone for a few minutes. Surely they are marking at home, on their personal internet, not at school.

Make it clear they are not supposed to install it on school devices (it would be nice to see their contract with the Exam Board, to see if it says this), that you are going out of your way to help, and this is the work around that can make what they want happen.

Yes, Salamander have this set up for us. We have a user defined field in SIMS - "retain account", with a tick box. If Retain Account is Yes, Salamander doesn't archive it. Similarly, we have a "Do not Provision" tickbox, for those employees who do not need a computer account.

One word - Salamander. Well worth the money, creates all users on their MIS start date, adds them to the appropriate groups, assigns relevant 365 licences, and disables the account on their MIS leaving date. It also creates mail groups based on classes, and sets up Teams for us. I've not yet had a request they couldn't fulfill

I have had similar issues with the HP 255 - a BIOS update fixed it.

Group Policy should do it - Administrative Templates - Microsoft Office 2016 - Language Preferences. Options to change display language and editing language.

If you are using hosted SIMS, how do you handle taking registers? As I understand it, we have a limited number of free full clients, which obviously need to go to people like Data Managers, so how do classroom teachers take registers? We've looked at the Teacher App, but there are issues with multiple users on one PC I believe. I'm hoping we can iron out all possible problems before we move across.

I don't usually sing Pearson's praises, but in this case they've got at right. A link to a 365 library, a 10 minute pass code sent to the registered email address when connection attempted, an email back to confirm successful upload.

Tried that, it didn't work. I deleted the profile a number of times, allowing her to log back on between each deletion. We were only able to log into OneDrive when I removed her profile using a local admin account, rather than a domain admin.

Thanks, it took three goes at deleting the profile - even though C:\Users and the registry showed no sign of her account, before I could get it to work. A colleague who's seen it an a sister school says it happens if a user cancels sign in to OneDrive - it then never allows sign in again.

Looking at that web page you can use the registry to get the same effect as the MDM policy.

Do you have access to GPOs? You can disable the spell checker that way. With regards to accounts - how about scheduled tasks to enable and disable accounts? enable: disable:

The asset number is stencilled or stuck onto the front of every PC. If someone is reporting an issue they can easily give me the asset number, and I can then search for the machine in AD or Impero. It's a constant - if the machine is moved and renamed I can still use the asset number to search the helpdesk and see if there is a recurring issue with it.

Machine name starts with a use descriptor - C for classroom (student use) T for Teacher (IWB machines) A for Admin (staffrooms, offices etc) L for Laptop. This is followed by the room number, job descriptor or staff initials depending on the machine placement or use. The last part of the name is the asset number. We end up with C-102-3456.

YouTube has really good video blurring software, upload the video, edit it to blur the face you need to blur - it does face recognition, then download the blurred video and delete it from you tube.

I have a "Shortcuts" folder on each C drive, with the core shortcuts being put in the folder during build, and Group Policy putting others there (I have a GPO that copies the shortcut into the relevant file structure if the executable the shortcut points to is present on the machine). A GPO redirects the start menu to that C drive set of folders. The tiles are common programs, so a single xml is set up (well two really, staff and students)

I removed her profile correctly, by going to advanced system settings, user profiles.

One of my users has the one drive icon in her task bar crossed through on every machine she goes to: She is logged onto 365 - her email and on-line OneDrive connect without needing further authentication, but clicking the OneDrive icon prompts her to sign in, but the sign in box doesn't appear. We use local profiles, and I've removed her profile from the machine, which hasn't helped. Any ideas?

Try applying it to "recipients that contain x in address" where x is the group email address.

I've used Microsoft Forms and asked them to confirm they have read the documents. To be honest, whatever you use you have no proof they read the document, just that they said they had.

About 10 years ago, in a previous school the Media department insisted on Macs. I was sent on a two day course, and the Macs were duly purchased. I set up a mac server and PXE boot deployment. Within a month I was asked if there was any way I could install Windows on them as well, so the room could be used for other subjects. I dual booted them, using a free program called, if I remember correctly, rEFIt. I never saw MacOS run on those machines again.
