I would just build a new one - It's not that difficult as you are going to have to go from 2008 - 2012r2 and then upgrade again to 2016 so isn't very clean! You will also need to be running at least SQL2012 as SQL2008 isn't supported on 2016. You will need to disable all the SQL Services before upgrading otherwise it will fail and roll back. Other than that it should work fine but for cleanliness i would rebuild rather than upgrade.

The Guy at the training on Friday said it was originally meant to be by the end of May, then the end of June and now the end of July! We will wait and see. He did say he'd email out to all on the training when the exam was live again so i'll make sure i post here!

I bet that is all they are doing though and charging you £350 for the process! Two cheaper options from my point of view 1)Take the drive out yourself and wipe it with BLANCO or similar software and then put it back in the machine 2)Find out what drive it takes buy a new drive and install the new drive for them. Either option will save you a good few hundred pound!

I agree you don't need an MDM engineer you can do it all yourself. It will take a bit of time to sort the DEP, VPP programs out properly but assuming you already have these setup it is relatively painless. Build your Lightspeed groups with the settings/configurations you want to apply, add the apps to the groups etc. Enrol devices and add them to the groups. Job Done!

Likewise, we're not going to roll out the SIMS Parent App lite but rollout the feature in Edulink. Again, another strong recommendation. We suggested the ability to carry out detention registers etc in Edulink and within a couple of months they released the feature! The Team are incredible! Dean.

I agree you need to have a Data Breach Response Plan that clearly details who is available in these instances. We have a DPO email address that is a group and comes to 3 of us (two of whom are full time 52 weeks a year member of staff and don't take annual leave at the same time) and if one was away for a period of time a 4th/5th person would be added to the group such as the SLT member responsible for Safeguarding etc who is on call/rota for being around that week during the holidays.

How has this been received by your staff? Have they all completed it? Is it viewable to Admins as to who has/hasn't completed the training? Dean.

I would still say Public Interest or Safeguarding for this one as you are collecting the information to Safeguard and protect the child during the school day but this is also in the public interest so could fall into either of these. Safeguarding trumps everything!

You should review every two years as a minimum. I would suggest an annual email to parents to say please review your email on the SIMS parent app lite or whatever other method you are using for data collection/consent! Hopefully not paper sheets in bags!

We're 28 days. I guess it's down to individual school preference although if your CCTV Policy/documentation states that you ONLY keep it for 28 days then you must ensure that footage older than 28 days removed or you are in breech of your own policy which would be an issue under GDPR.

I've gone Public Interest for Show My Homework. The school have decided to use an online system and this is how we do it. Also, for the comments regarding passing Parents Contact details Show My Homework no longer takes parental details from your MIS. You provide parents with a PIN and it it down to them to register at that point it is nothing to do with the school they have registered directly with Show My Homework as the Data Controller.

All looks good to me - have you check event logs under the group policy section to see if that suggest any reason why it's not applying?

Have you got Authenticated Users set on the security side of the GPO? There was an issue about a year or two ago where microsoft changed something and it requires authenticated users present on the GPO security stuff?
