  1. If the Titebond doesn't hold use Gorilla Glue. A little bit more expensive but everything else will break before that gives up.
  2. Nice Pics. We used to get one come to our garden regularly because we had lots of bushes the other side of our garden wall which housed hundreds of sparrows. It used to go crashing in there and come out with its prey then sit on top of one of my bird feeders and rip it apart. Don't see it now though because the council have taken all the bushes away and destroyed a recovering community of sparrows.
  3. Hi Sareal. Welcome to Edugeek. Hope you find this site as useful and helpful as I have.
  4. I'm glad this thread has started. I'm going to rebuild an old server with Server 2008 and was going to install this on it. Anyone had problems putting it on a Server 2008 environment? Client machines will still be XP.
  5. Not blocked here, but if you block one you should block them all to keep a balance.
  6. Firstly thanks for posting this. It couldn't have come a better time. I've had a laptop brought in today (only 3 months old) getting a B.S.O.D. Read this with it's solutions, especially Whocrashed (great bit of software), and have found that all the B.S.O.D's are down to a Realtek network driver. So Secondly thanks to everyone who have contributed to this.
  7. I've had these or someone similar trying to sell me these but I think they were £295 each and supposed to last 30 times longer than standard high capacity ones. This company were really annoying and forceful. They were giving away sports shirts and tickets to a top tickets to a game of your choice. They told me they'd send me a sample with a shirt. I thought this was to be a free sample but the bill turned up before the sample. The sample turned up with a cheap t-shirt with an England flag printed on it (not the team one I'd mentioned). I can do better with my own printer and iron on logos. I phoned the company and said that I thought this was a sample and would be free. Not the case and I had to pay for it. Told them I wasn't interested then and they turned real nasty on the phone. After a few rows on the phone I managed to take it to a higher level and then returned it and the tacky t-shirt. So if anyone phones and offers you any of the above, hang up. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the company, but the guy I spoke to was a bit of a wide boy. They've rung a couple of times since, using the same lines about your favourite football team but I just tell them I'm not interested.
  8. Happy new year, what ever part of the decade it is. Just over 6 1/2 hours still to go here. Starting to get thirsty.
  9. Happy New Year Mate. Thanks for your help over the last year.
  10. Have a look on this site or give them a ring. JFMG Radio spectrum for programme making and entertainment They sorted my UHF licencing problems out for me.
  11. Can't you just insert an RSS feed from your local TV or Radio website?
  12. You could download Prism Video Converter (free). Convert it to WMV format, drop it into Movie Maker and create your clip from there.
  13. Morning all I am trying to map a drive on a Server 2000 machine to a PC on another domain and keep getting the following error - 'There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request' This PC was connected up until a short while ago but now won't reconnect. I've tried restarting both machines, I've allocated the admin server to the users/network passwords on the PC. I can connect to the shared drives on the server back the other way but not from the server to the PC. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. No need for a reply. I've sorted it myself.
  14. I am trying to access the following file on a laptop with Windows 7: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc -Hosts I need to add our Internet IP so that the PC can access the internet without having to install programs that the school PC's need to access it. When I do this with XP machines I can do it fine but on the W7 machine it tells me that I don't have administrative access to it and therefore can't save my changes back. This is being logged on with full administrator rights. Has anyone got a solution to this please?
  15. When you log on, the machine just sits doing nothing as if it's going to start but doesn't. Try Cntl/Alt/Del and open task manager. In Applications tab click on new task and run regedit. Alternately if you have a boot disk of some sort (Erd, Hirens or some other equivalent) and do the regedit changes that way. Don't know if it changes the actual program or whether Windows creates an new one. It works.
  16. FOUND IT!! To fix the problem you need to edit the registry on every machine that is affected, follow these instructions: start -> run -> type in regedit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> MICROSOFT -> WINDOWS NT -> CURRENT VERSION -> IMAGE FILE EXECUTION OPTIONS Look thought the list of .exe files and youll find a "explorer.exe" process, you need to rename this process to something, doesnt matter what as it will create a new explorer process, i renamed all mine to explorir.exe Dont know why this happened but once i followed this fix all the machines came back up and running. Give that a bash and let me know how it goes =) This was thanks to Bluetooth.
  17. I had this error a while ago. Explorer gets corrupted somehow. I think mine was caused by a virus. You have to go into the registry and rename the program. I renamed mine to something like explorar. Then restart the PC and windows creates a new explorer. I cant remember the exact path in the registry. Give me a few minutes and try to track down my post on this.
  18. Nice looking site. Well done.
  19. Hi all I currently have our old Curriculum domain controller sitting here waiting to be reassigned as something else but I not sure what to use it for. We have 2 networks here, 1 Admin (for Head teacher and office staff x3), the other Curriculum (for Staff, Students and everyone else). The Admin server is as old as the hills P2 400Mhz running Server 2000 but still works. Should I reassign the old Curriculum DC as a new Admin DC or alternately merge the 4 users on the existing Admin network into the new Curriculum network, scrap the old Admin server and put the old Curriculum server to use elsewhere? Any suggestions? Hope this made sense, it did to me but then I wrote it.
  20. Here you go. I have added an attachment, hope this helps.TightVNC_MSI.zip
  21. I don't appear to have a tools option on mine. I have a client tools radio button but there isn't a Lookup host option on that. I'm running Lanview v3.1.9.
  22. Heres a network monitoring free package MikroTik Routers and Wireless Seems pretty good. Just trying to decypher it. Probably easy to the more technically adept.
  23. I have lanview running on our system and this thing doesn't show up. It's still got the same IP and you can ping, I just can't find what and where it physically is. Refering to an earlier post about the CCTV. Apparently the CCTV is all hard wired and doesn't touch the network. Back to square one.
  24. We are just in the process of getting quotes in to have most of our switches replaced. They are fairly old now and although managed to a certain degree, they can't do what you seem to be able to do on modern switches.
  25. Unfortunately not.
