im getting annoyed now with our 'RM Safetynet' and specifically 'RM Active-Adapt Content Filter'. i' creating docs about esafety and am getting more and more pages filtered! (the latest was on the sodding FBI.gov website. does anyone know the staffs unfiltered porxy. PM me if you dont want to post on here. I have asked SLT but still waiting for a reply, and i am busy lol.

Well thinking that edugeek had broke and lost hafl my data i realised im stupid! after rebuilding my station the other week i noticed my status (post counts, join date etc) were different....confused and narked! today i remembered about this (half term makes me forget) and noticed my avatar had vanished too!!! ------- i have two logons....(i am both gibboap and gibbo_ap...sigh. when i rebuilt my station i logged in with my old one, that i forgot about. so back on my orignal one now lol. god im thick! lol add to rep for sympathy lol jk :troll::troll::troll::troll:

thats the thing, we never get told how much we have. years ago our "spending money" (general lil bits keyboards, mice, parker pens etc) come out of what was left of our £10k printing consuables budget. our mockup order this year was £17k lol we generally make a dev plan, hand it in, either gets approved or not then we go about ordering stuff. as said doubt we will come close to this years targets, but we will have 4 years after to share them over, if we do come short.

are these figures for leasing? ours is a little more than that, our 5 year dev plan which takes into account leasing, hardware purchasing, software, infostructure, subscriptions (SLA, broadband, etc) comes to £150,000 ish per year, but take into account that we are looking at replacing all the computers over this time servers to the end, upgrading office to 2007 (tho by the time we do office 14 will be out lol) installing a managed wireless network. oh and CC4 eventually when its well ya know...working in the plan we also were looking at replacing most of the printers over this time as they will mostly be out of warranty over the time ----------- that said, it was approved a few months ago, now the budget has come thru dont think we will get it all done

you may have noticed the thread i started about the joomla edugeek package which i am currently testing (and as much as it pains me to admit, i like...alot). the only thing missing is AD authetication (if you know about this please reply in the other thread - http://www.edugeek.net/forums/edugeek-joomla-1-5-package/34626-joomla-ad-intregration.html#post324059) i was wondering how you guys and gals give access to staff to your school site (joomla or other). currently ours is an asp based site which was created entirely by me, using AD authentication to access the staff admin (add news etc). i did this as the old site was never used by staff as they cba and/or didnt know how or didnt know their un and pw. so how do you do it? do staff use it anyway? thanks in advance!

looks like this plugin needs you to be running joomla on linux! arrrg but all in all looks a really good system. my 2 problems are unfamiliarity (which obviously is not a problem more a time thing) and the AD link. dont really want to run it as a virtual machine on the webserver seems a faf. although i do want to getinto virtualisation. has anyone seen heard or know of a wamp compatable ad auth method for joomla??? what do you guys do?

When I built our current site (asp) i did so with the intention to integrate with the AD. This massively helped get staff using it as they didnt have to register or remember a different password etc since i have added different areas protected via the AD. After spending many hours coding the site, and being very happy with the result, i am looking at a redesign, and decided a change may be worth it. So i have downloaded both the standard and edugeek joomla package. and am very impressed. BUTTTTT i want AD intregration. I guess i would do this in the same way if i installed php on to IIS. i gave my self a headache yday when trying get this to work. so last night i read up and went the WAMP way and all is working joomla side of things etc any ideas folks???

have installed php on my test station (iis7 and win 7 lol) php seems be ok have run the install.php gubbins and filled out everything, gets to the page where you enter the admin addy etc wont install the sample data ignore that click next any way then get page can not be displayed grrrrr any ideas folks?

Right, i keep seeing this edugeek joomla popping up, i like the look of it, the fact it is being used else where etc but i like my baby. i wrote our school site from scratch with a custom CMS in asp, and whilst i dont have the time any more, i love to say i did it etc. but theres the 'what if i leave' who will do the site, the edu joomla is popular and anyone ish (it seems) can jump into it. thats my story and basically what i know. so what are the pros and cons? is it php bases? if it is bugger gonna have to finally get round to learning that! and what do ppl think of it ingeneral?

i had a text whilst walking in this morning from one of our retired dept heads 'if you are bored whilst on the tube/bus etc pretend you are on the phone discussing your 4week tour of mexico, then cough and hang up' being early it did take a few seconds lol

logically its best to use what the kiddies will be using when they go home, but more what they will be using if they manage to get jobs. ie mail merge is different from 2003 to 2007, if you are teaching 2003 then they get a job with 2007 they may get stuck. i've always wanted to have the latest at home as i go out fixing lost for ppl, so i dont want to get caught out. plus with the features coming in win 7 i think its best to hang.

We are Currently looking into a Managed Wireless Solution, and after doing some research myself (which has involved the search button lol) i have come seeking your advice and experience. We are looking into; Trapize - Awaiting info and researching still Aruba - Have hear this is pricy Ruckus -Have heard they use directional APs to cover large areas, which would spread the bandwidth over multiple rooms, less access point = less cost, but lower bandwidth HP - Not heard much yet are a friend at a different school is currently having this installed. My questions are; how do these compare in price? how do you find (esp with ruckus) coectig a whole class of laptops, ie speed, reliability etc? Any one have anything to say about HP? thanks in advance

i learnt a long time ago that we here can use the swimming baths in town and any other county council baths.....off peak......finishes at 4! i called up and said the only discount that i am aware of i cant take advantage of as i work the only time its on, they sounded intrigued and said they would call back.....was about a month ago now lol we also get junk in our pay slips too but even with offers and discount i find it ore expensive that most places any way. either that or its selling mobility scooters or something else i would never need
