right-o i have actually looked into this. when i started we had old PDA running their version of pars. problem was them were the models that if they ran out of battery they would wipe them selves!!! PE dept = duh here. i was reinstalling them every 3rd week until i snapped one day. have looked into PARs connect. which is a web based pars, cant remeber if it used any active x coms etc but would defo run on a windows powered web book. we now have two old computers in the changing rooms. now as the classes on pars are normal teaching classes and have both boys and girls (and we obviously have different changing rooms for boys and girls lol) you can seperate the registers into two. if any one wants to know how i did this PM me and i will rack my brains and remember (is a once a year job and its the end of the year almost. lol.

i think that people are skirting around the issue (haha monday morning pun). As a male member of staff, and quite a young one at that, i feel uncomfortable with girls in short skirts, but across the road the other high school has trousers, very tight trousers, which are worse. I walk to work in the morning and find my self looking at the sky, i can get to work by following certain telegraph polls. seriously tho; when i was a student here, there was a girl who protested that in winter girls can wear trousers. the head suspended her! that was funny, totally unjust but still funny, she was laughing too.... he is my boss now

not a bad idea in theory. our head would never go for this as it would make the school look 'weak' or poor etc and if we give the parents the reason why will make it sound like the teachers cant control the class. the main prroblems we find are kids not returning the headphones with the cable wrapped up, the box then just looks like a jumbled mess and takes ages get the we have just purchased a load of new headphones at about £4.50 each!!! the whole idea is silly i agree. i noticed a post by someone yday i think it was who pointed out they work in an all girls school and have very little damage! how i envy you!

We have a RISO HC3R-HC5500 which i hate! whilst it does meet your requirements and look cool (tis 6foot long, has a touch screen interface) the quality is poor and the touch screen is pooh (pressing yes to a popup 16 times as it doesnt work means it will press it on the 15th attempt and the and then the reset button is under this and you reset all of your settings) i call it the 6ft long k9 faeces! on a lighter note we have just signed a contract with infotec(ricoh) for our curriculum printers and the quality of them is excelent, and they are in essence photocopiers without the finishers attached. the cost of our printers will be 0.0051 mono and 0.042 colour

our school doesnt have a network manager! as the NM job pays £28,353-£32,475, scp 34-39 so to be cheap they decided to pay the NM as Systems Officer £23,473-£27,573, scp 28-33. but he is full time. me and the other guy are term time only.

from what i have seen and read about cc4 (we are cc3) there are a lot of improvments. one which i will find amazingly useful is that packages allocate whilst the user is logged on. this is done in the background. we have problems with flash 'dropping off', so its a case of allocate then reboot or log teacher/student off, log on as me manual install. cc4 installs in the background and will just start working. the package viewer looks amazingly useful to. especially when doing licence audits. we all know we 'temp' instally software (with only x licences), if a room is out of action, to another room then forget. not best practice or legal but on times is needed. and at the end of the day cc3 is only xp which as much as ppl try to forget this - support etc is coming to an end. saying that it does have its downfalls (cc3). dont know if it is true with cc4 but sometimes i want to run as admin to install a program when a kid or staff member is logged on. actually going to check if there is a hack for this now lol (ideas pls lol) -
soe of you may have seen me post threads about printing costs etc and a rant about financial regs etc here is what i have learnt, hope this is useful. as far as i know each county council has different tender limits, ours is £10k over the life of a contract. this means if you are to spend over £10k on a solution, even if it is over 5 years, (be this manages wireless, enterprise printing etc) then the job needs to go to tender. if you want to avoid this long winded way you can go to the OGC (Office of Government Finance) who have pretendered contracts inplace any way (make sure you check that the scope covers education). BUT if the project requires 15 or more units, be this toner, printers, wireless APs then you may have to go to mini competition (read tender-ish) this means that there will be an OGC contract in place but there may be more than one contract holder. in which case you will have to get quotes in TO THE OGC on OGC mini comp forms (fun eh) Printing solutions If you are after a printing solution ad look at the OGC route there are 4 companies who hold the 'Print output' contract; Canon, Infotec (Ricoh), Océ and Xerox. having just (this second) got off the phone to Océ they only (at this time) offer MFD devices. canon only offer their software solution (which looks really good tbh). i have not heard back from Xerox (more calls today w00t). if like me you are in a rush; (well were were, learning all this has taken time, and proabally would have been quicker to tender it-meh) there is another contract (RM450) i struggle with the full name (its long) this is held by ricoh, who gave us the best quote in our orignal investigate. with the ogc prices are held for the life of the contract so this will help even further. any more or if my rant has confused please feel free to ask or call (number on website)

cummon tis the ferry master, he leaves every night
-
i was wondering about her too, tho goin by my reasoning she also has perfect logic
-
te other way to look at it logically is by reading a few bits so there is a solution...yes...THEY get it straight away, they all leave. it doesnt ask how do they figure it out, just who and when. so as they will figure it out "instantly" the answer [logically] is.... every one leaves on the 1st night simple
-
the person running the ferry, and every night

sorry but that is just silly! in my job description i line reads 'keep upto date with current techology news and development' yet i would be laughed out of the door if i asked them to buy me a home computer and get paid for reading articles online! we also do sims updates from home too and service pack installs but we dont get paid for this too, and i wouldnt ask to be.
