using sophos on these. although the problem is on blank (just unboxed just vista and tosh software) laptops. have just tried the the winsock line still nothing fixed ip time e thinks

ran ipconfig /all didnt see the 0.0.0.0 but i did see lease expires [yday at 11] which is about when i happened (i carried on with other stuff and forgot) ill admit ignorance and say i dont know what this means but will not be lazy and google away

some of the stations wouldnt conect from the box, wen i looked at the rest they had all disconnected too (bar one which was 90% the way thru updates, rebooted and wasnt connected) i well confused lol

disabled ip v6.....nadda nothing zilch

i havent manually set the ip or dns on any, just dhcp. may try setting them to test but they are staff laptops to use at home and school so wouldnt help much oh and i have tried dns flush even tho they are brand new.

lol yeah forgot to add that i had checked and checked again that the details were correct, seemed to all happen at once (well post reboot on some). un boxed more and they wouldnt do the same. perhaps our network dislikes vista not beyond the realm of belief

just had 10 toshiba laptops in started the normal rigger of wiping crap and installing office antivirus and win update suddenly they started loosing net connection , not network just net. i can ping servers internally just not externally, so cant do win update. btw they running *cough* vista any ideas its bugging me and i cant think, prob staring me in the face (out for a friends bday last night so a bit tequila'ed over lol)

i would reset their password, they will soon come saying they cant login, just say its happened to a few ppl today and get they reset their password. add other BS in there too lol ps i tried do the above on ours as it looked useful although the url was https://IPADDY/exchange/ so no joy

as a last day doss our head of it wants to show the kids some retro games, to show that you dont need amazing graphics for a good game. any ideas?????? so far have doom* wolfenstein* zool sensible soccer** actua soccer prince of persia jazz jack rabbit rise of the triads* rise of the robots (this shows the other end amazing gfx god awful game lol) *we have ** we have emulator pads for so any ideas??????

i have my own laptop although there are several problems with it but it is still better than the work one i will be getting. i use my laptop all the time for work and play. additionally i am currently wanting to learn about virtualisation and afew other techs as i will hopefully be getting my bosses job as well as his laptop. "having a laptop will give me a testing area for learning new technologies without risking possible damage and resource uses on my main home pc and my main desktop at work." this is what i have come up with over the day

I would be getting the department laptop as of sept, but we also have some brand new laptops coming soon.....and i want one lol my boss has said i need a better argument than "why should we not have the best" which is a line i learnt from him any ideas????

PE staff + technology = trip to pub/shop for headache solving magical pills for me

i have read some old threads but some are OLD. looking for a free alternative to movie maker as we are having problems with it crashing etc, really bored of trying to fix it now, too much other work to do. so any good free (can be open source) video editing apps nice time line like movie maker is needed and transitions. PS i am hoping all will be fine when i clean up packages over summer and rebuild but a backup plan is a good idea me thinks

Does your school actually have a network manager? ours doesnt and never has. due to things like JE our HOD is A systems support officer, or systems officer i forget which. are there any other schools out there like this? our SSO is due to be doing a GTP in sept with me taking over from him and i would love to make a post similar to 'bandgeekmafia78' lol tight fisted school lol

Does any one have a package for LOGO. just bin askedby a maths teacher and my package build station is out of action atm and we have loads of stuff to move (even in shorts today) if any one have a package for this i would really appreciate it. PS LOGO as in that old "programming" software with the triangle you have to guide around. thanks
