i am just looking at licences at present and am wondering if the MS Schools Agreement would be worth our while? we have 380 (will be 468 soon) curriculum stations and 13 admin, currently running office 2003 (dont know at present how many are 2007 compatible looking into this at the moment) we use office, have server 2003, exchange, and running cc3 but looking to cc4 soon. i am also looking to upgrade to office 2007 or 2010 soon, my understanding of MSSA is that in will make my life easier regarding licences of ms gubbins anyway. with cc4 i will be looking at Windows 7 on new stations when supported. what are peoples experences? what are the problems moving from how we are (just purchasing as and when) to moving to the schools agreement does being an RM school complicate this?

looking a spending next year ad we had planned on moving to 2007 but with 2010 on public beta it would seem silly. does anyone kow if recent licences are compatable? what are your thoughts on office 2010 so far?

Wondering what browser you use on your NETWORK? and if it is no IE do you find it easy to administer?

Just wondering what browser YOU use in school. Will be doing a different poll for what browser you have installed on the network.

we are seriously looking at thin clients at present and looking to replace some of our desktops. new week we are attending a local school for a nose around at theirs. i just wanted to get a consensus of where you guys and gals have deployed thin clients? what i mean by this is; do you use them as teacher stations (interactive whiteboard, sims, pars, lession monitor etc)? do you use them in areas where only dtp is done? do they out put much heat (i understand not but if there was a room of 32 of them???) how do they handl video/video editing/ audio editing/dreamweaver (ict use)? would you use one (as your main station)??? cheers

the worse ones are teacher stations so only teachers use them reset profiles rebuild one last night still running like a dog is worth mentioning that they apparently get better as the day goes on??? latest HSP, latest hotfixes, stations were all rebuild over summer, all profiles reset over summer sorry should have worded better, i know this is only a guideline (and prob a sales tatic) although they dont say the same with cc4. i mentioned it just to pre-empt

Good morning, was wondering if anyone had an idea about the speed issues we are having at present some stations are taking 10+ mins to boot then ages to login apparently this is getting worse and wasn't like this before summer. the only thing to change is that Securus client and print audit 6 client was installed. but this should not affect pre login speeds. we have a cc3 network of 390 stations (36 of which are network laptops) 4 curriculum servers (i know there is a limit about how many stations per server and we are almost there). I have un-installed some programs off the worse stations, reinstalled the RMC3I service, checked event logs and found nothing silly. my guess is that it is because the stations are 4years old ish that they are just suffering the stresses of time. added on this no1 turns the computer off until the auto shut-down time is reached. any ideas? or going by what i have said would i be right in my assumption that they are just old

greetings we have been suffering slow start uptimes from some stations (generally in science). i need to check what link they are on but i'm pretty sure they link from a gig switch from fiber. but the problem seems to be startup times and slow loading of PARs i have updated to the latest version and am in the process of setting the automation module to run as a service not a scheduled task on my station. this is a network i have been working on for almost 4 year but only as a tech, since sept its mine, but i have never had anything to do with pars and sims before so i am learning...slowly lol

the first ep was gr8 e3 and 4 were a bit slow. i find it a lil similar to atlantis tho; in deep space, with no help on anchient ship, tho this one is old and buggered. im gonna give it chance before i make my mind up tho. some characters are good some not so good. just wait til they find some cool tech! lol i think i read somewhere that there isnt going to be any aliens or at least no bad guys as such the 'enemy' is the ship and lack of supplies. we'll see eh
