The server you are going to use - put Hyper V on it and then install SCCM as a VM then when you come to upgrade the rest of your servers to virtual you can literally right click copy and paste the SCCM VM onto your new servers. Bit more setting up now, but will make the future much easier.

Physical? Ewwww. There's nothing that doesn't get virtualised here there's plenty of performance comparisons out there that prove that virtualised is almost (as in high 90something percent) as fast as physical yet the upsides on ease of use/set up / moving things around / backup and restore / data protection / disaster recovery are endless.

Yes you physically can run injectors no technical reason why not but they are not good practice and it is just something else to go wrong so you are sacrificing reliability. ( as in 2 x injectors each end and 2 x cheap Chinese power supplies each end to go wrong per drop).

So hang on a sec here - WONDE can literally pull any data it wants through the API (even without your permission) - yet when it's time to migrate all of a sudden that's a big issue? Won't take much proving that ESS are anticompetitive.

I've got my trusty 42" panasonic plasma that's way too small and needs replacing. I keep saying when it dies I'll get a nice 65". Anyhow I've been saying it for years the darn thing is indestructable. Well we don't have MATs here but I would think you would need. Director of IT on board level to get those important decisions through. Preferably an ex IT manager so they actually know what they're talking about. IT Manager to deal with the overview of trust Network/Server/Strategy/Cybersecurity Senior IT Tech trained up on the servers/switches/wifi/cybersecurity to work closely with the techs and provide 3rd line escalation. IT Technician based in each secondary (more than one if you think it's needed/large school/etc) Floating IT technician(s) for primaries I guess with 9 primaries you'd need 2 techs minimum?

My humble opinion - PCP simply allows you to have a car you wouldn't ordinarily be able to afford, so if you want to transition from PCP to paying up front and owning your car outright, most people would need to downgrade to a car they can afford, come down a model or two on the car or go a bit older. Either way owning your own car is the way forward I wouldnt touch PCP etc with a barge pole even if I won the lottery.

It's the usual teams atrocious layout and need half an hour and a degree just to to set a meeting up and then 15 mins and a HND just to join the meeting after.

Haha you mouthed off on social media now you got the telling off to come I actually agree that upgraded google and office365 licences for all school would probably make the most difference as then each network manager would have the tools to 100% tighten up the cybersecurity whilst still making it as easy to use as it can be. Training - training for IT managers/techs is really important and most schools won't fund it - i got turned down for a course as it was too expensive all about cyber securing office365 etc and they then denied the 400 quid a year for upgraded office licenses for conditional access etc - if anything ever happens I got the I told you so card printed out ready to go. reason I got it printed out is that the network will be down when I need it.... Training for staff - needs to be made mandatory alongside safeguarding training or you're flogging a dead horse if it's voluntary. Apparently 80% of all cybersecurity incidents are through phishing so that needs to be targeted as the highest priority really. Upgraded licences help here, training for IT staff helps here. mandatory training for staff helps here.

That's one thing that most schools skimp on - so go for it.

Sadly ipads have a 5 year shelf life in school.

Probably got screwed over by some salesman types. Some schools don't have anyone with the knowledge to say "no this is a rip off" Once your in the lease there's no getting out other than buying the lease out.

Sure! I am not trying to be nasty to anyone. Large scale building works should be covered by the LA as it's their property and they're the ones going to be sued when a tile falls off the roof etc. If they are not doing it - make them look stupid on twitter by closing the school due to health and safety as the LAs wont fund the new roof etc. Would take a strong head but I guarantee once it's all over the local news there'll be contractors sniffing around in 5 days.

The sad thing is the LA agreed to it all in a bid to try and get "education on the cheap" like using a third party company that's sole job is to make a profit for 30 years , is going to work out cheap. I guess the poor management was at the LA not the school when those 30 year agreements were signed.
