The problem with this is - the more you "keep on making do and mending" the less money you'll ever stand a chance of ever getting as they know you'll cobble together some third hand stuff. Sometimes SLT need some tough loving - a bit of downtime, which you will eventually get using archaic donated kit often sooths the purse strings.

Bizarre been running MDT for like 10 years here never had to rebuild a server or database or anything. Mind you have mostly had Dell PCs on there which have good driver packs no random makes and models.

No offence but Dell Hardware and Driver support is better than Lenovo in all areas. As far as the hardware goes, it would be a backwards step for your trust in my opinion. If your moving because of support your gonna be needing to use Lenovo support a heck of a lot more so you'd better make darn sure the grass is greener the other side of the fence (I am not convinced it is). If your moving because of lack of account management / purchase discounts etc then I totally understand that, I stopped buying direct from dell years ago for those types of reasons, as it wasn't worth while and in the end it was easier for me to just order from BT Business or Millgate etc - but I am afraid most tier 1 companies are shafting their education departments and getting rid of education discounts so not sure the grass is gonna be greener for you anywhere else. I've just noticed you appear to be relying heavily on these manufacturers for daily support as in actual engineer visits to schools etc? Your totally at the mercy of their whims and decisions good or bad in that case. I would strongly suggest looking at building up your own team to do more technical repairs - it's easy when you learn how - we repair all in house from servers to chromebooks minimal cost maximum speed no extra warranty needed or yearly support charges. just my 2p!

What write protection on Program Files?? Do you have some custom security in your GPOs for Program files folder? I always install it to program files and dont have this issue running 22H2 here too. .net stuff was in previous windows updates you sure your up to date?

I've used Beringer and Peavy at the lower end and Allen and Heath at the higher end - both recommended. The allen and heath desk also sounded better than the peavy and beringer desks. I guess you get what you pay for!

Ah so you literally just robo copied the new folder and overwrote all the old file sand it worked? That may save some time!! (ps. does that work on a PC that doesn't have the software installed at all???)

Interesting - what extra security have you implemented to guard against losing data? Wonde seems to sync *.* from the MIS and then its down to the app itself to pull whatever data it needs (or is supposedly allowed to pull). If your DIY method gets hacked you could breech all your MIS data in one go? (I mean it's no different to Classcharts I suppose other than the responsibility would lie with you directly not a third party?)

Your not getting it - it's the lack of communication that is the problem now that thousands of Chromebooks around the country have suddenly and inexplicably stopped working. These chromebooks are now not able to be disabled or repurposed so are Ewaste even though they actually work fine? As the headteacher above has pointed out devices donated to exceptionally needy pupils are suddenly unusable?

Just bare in mind the EoL dates have always been sold to us as the date they stop getting updates, not the date they suddenly stop working out of the blue. This is a purposeful and uncommunicated change from google.

Sorry to hear about your parents I would pay £1650 to get that cleared every day of the week. Think about the thousands it effectively adds to the value when put on rightmove.
