I am assuming a windows 11 thing - are all of you above that have seen the issue running win11 like the OP?

You may have to replace them anyway as most of the older wireless mics as I understand it, are actually illegal as they operate on the wrong frequency's nowadays - I am not an expert but I do remember a load of kerfuffle about it a few years ago. Consult an expert to be sure as the last thing you want to do is save money by not replacing them only to get fined for more than the cost of new sure ones??

Yes we've already started buying used newer chromebooks I think this will be the only way forward for the two scenarios we use them for.

Well. Ouch! Can someone take the knife out of my back pls? It's a good point and I hold my hands up and take the slap in the face for it for using EOL devices - but to be frank an EOL device that still works is far better than no device which is what they would have so it is a bit hurtful to be abused for just trying to get devices into pupils hands for them to learn. 1) We use these devices as backup devices for a) pupils from other schools (yes, we give pupils from other schools who's school is too tight/useless to go 1:1 our Chromebook to use whilst they are studying a course with us) 2) We use these devices as "throw away" devices for the pupils that have track record of damaging/losing new expensive Chromebooks. Luckily chromebooks are far more secure than windows devices so it is no where near as much of a risk as it would be if we were running windows 7 laptops. Still Google have made the decision for us time for a rethink as Chromebooks have not far off doubled in price over the last 6 years and finances are worse than ever.

13tb is not a lot. Might be worth making some changes to your backup schedule e.g 3 dailys 1 weekly 2 monthly 1 yearly and then make sure Veeam clears up after itself merging backups weekly deleting old stuff after 14 days etc etc. you can also get around that storage limit by getting a budget synology nas with some extra drives in and using that as a secondary storage target which is what I do -primary storage caters for dailys a weekly amonthly and a couple of yearly then the secondary nas does all the inbetween weekly monthlys and yearlys too.

It sounds like you need MAC address filtering on - export a list of chromebook mac addresses from google to allow access to your new more secure wifi network, and then ban everything else.

I mean the catch could possibly be it's data harvesting all your web traffic if your allowing it to access everything in chrome? Generally you don't get anything in life for free! Happy to be proven wrong.

It's not really worse to be honest, it is just as reliable and performant i.e 100% uptime if you've got your hardware right.

Sounds exactly like what I am having I think the prowise ones were on 83 or 86 a bit newer but still old and now unusable by the look of it!

What is the error message exactly? Are you logging into the actual site but cant upload the work or can you not get into the site at all? There are usually file size limits on each upload e.g. the files must be less than 500MB. There are also file type conditions that can give errors e.g. it needs to be a mp4 file not a MOV file or it needs to be an MP3 file not a WAV file etc.

I would be guessing that you actually need less management in each school and more technician time to support the daily stuff more effectively. Some tough decisions to make / conversations to have methinks.

Theyre 2018 enrolled but I get the feeling that they were sitting around on prowise's shelf before we bought them as they ran out of google support in 2020!!! It's weird the older dells we have are working and just enrolled some HP G6's successfully. Only seems to affect the prowise ones.

Saw this coming a mile off. I originally moved from Vmware when they bumped their education prices way back when but that was nothing compared to broadcom. Sad times. Looks like hyperv it is for you one datacenter license per rig and unlimited VMs!
