Scaling something to 60% size still gonna look like crap though?

Sounds like you need to put pressure on your LA to get things upgraded. Can you get the other local schools to report it too?

To be honest it's not really a "software" thing for impero to fix it's a hardware upgrade thing fopr you to fix..... You can't expect to mix 4:3 and 16:9 anywhere as it just isn't gonna work as you cant squish 1920x1080 into 1280x1024 and have still it look good. We ran teacher widescreens and pupil 4:3 like you but ended up having to get in cheap 22" 1080p screens for the pupils so that the teachers and pupils could see the screens properly etc. No way around it to be honest.

I think Microsoft are still struggling to understand how intune works to be honest. In these days of MDMs and free google for education allowing you to manage a hundred thousand chrome devices a the click of a mouse - Microsoft are retarding ever and ever further backwards.

Well by the look of some of the other posts even what I am doing is not right / not the best :S (not using domain admins at all is a good call, the browse-down model looks superior too). If you have a virtual server infrastructure, then leverage that. My PAWS VM's are literally super basic - 2 vcpu 2-4gb ram variable and 100gb HDD space. If you don't have virtual servers it is going to be more difficult, you could compromise by using an old server or decent spec PC in your office and just use that with a separate domain admin account for managing active directory etc stuff.

Sounds a strange one - could be Windows update updating motherboard or network drivers causing an issue? Might be worth imaging a laptop and keeping it on your desk in your room for a day to keep an eye on it and see what it does, does it stop working on its own, does it pick up windows updates and stop working, etc?

SIMS on prem is what you have now. On premisis i.e SQL server with database and sims clients on the pcs. SIMS Connected is your on prem database moved on to the internet which you then connect to using virtual desktop through a web browser so that it's slower and less reliable than the old on prem system was.

Ah I get you. We don't allow access of those tasks on normal workstations or servers out in the wild. We use a separate privileged admin workstation (virtual server) and a separate DA account for each member of staff that needs ad/dns/dhcp etc

I've never quite seen an analogy regarding dog poo used to such great effect before. You have a way with words that would make a politician blush!! I agree - I would not want to try and run/make a CC4 network with the RM parts forcibly removed. It would end up like triggers broom. It may work - but at some point it's just going to be easier to start from scratch and buy a new broom, especially as brooms have moved on significantly over the last 10 years. My new broom is Titanium with heated handle accessible via a cloud app.

On PCs? If so deny DA completely via GPO and create a separate PC elevation account that is added to the local administrators group on all the PCs via GPO which you can use for the daily stuff. That way your not using DA accounts for the daily stuff. I've done the same thing on servers too - a separate server elevation account that is a local admin on just the servers, can be used to do general stuff on all the servers without being a DA.

Create a google sites website with al the info on and then if it's a touchscreen device the users can browse around the site at their own leisure? just make sure you put lots of back buttons around the place so they can go back one step.

Generally, no there is no way to get out of a 3 year lease early. For evidence see the hundreds of schools in the past that got duped into bad contracts with unscrupulous reprographics and phone companies and even the LEA legal teams appear to have got no where. There are two options. 1. Get a new contract with someone else, you will have to buy out the old contract, theres no way round that, but the new company can deal with all this and just give you a new yearly figure to pay. 2. Get your LA legal team involved but the issue is your school will need to have a watertight legal case to stand any chance of getting anywhere and most schools wouldn't have water tight legal cases and evidence trails for each purchase. (a heck of a load of accurate documentation, proof that you asked the company to behave in a specific way, proof that you followed the SLA and all applicable procedures, proof that you went to tender with 3 companies, proof that this company looked to the the best on paper and then spectacularly failed to meet their obligations, etc.) Either way, good luck!!

This can be avoided by giving the photo company very clear instructions on a) what do to on the day and b) what to do with the photos afterwards. Sounds like there was a lack of communication somewhere. It's always a good idea to literally make it someone's job on the day to deal with the photos/pupils/and what happens to the photos after rather than just dumping them in the hall and hoping for the best.

We dumped RM at the end of CC3 when they basically started failing as a company. Joined LEA vanilla network - reimaged all the PCs etc. Swerved a bullet as the early days of CC4 where "negative effect on teaching and learning" territory. My advice would be either join with your LEA - or if you want to go solo vanilla read up big time or get a company in to help you transition.

Fusion 360 was a constant nightmare. We don't use it any more we use a few web apps like Onshape

It's unusual for an app to need admin permissions just to run. I would inherently not trust the app and would want to look into if it seems safe to use. What app is it?
