I learnt the hard way a few years ago, despite specifying this when I retrospectively bought one (from the server manufacturer) it didn't match and hence didn't work....

Same here. Buses turned up withouth notice lunch time Friday which meant the kids thought they were going home early.... Chaos and wild kids then followed. In the end the school closed 15 minutes early!

I'd give BCBC IT a ring, they run software there that checks for easy to crack passwords, don't know what it's called though, I know it works well as I've been the recipient of an enforced password change just afer I'd already changed it....

At least this story gives me something to throw back at users when I get complaints about our Data security policies and procedures!

None. I occasionaly buy one to scan through to try and keep up to date with what's happening in the big bad world outside these four walls! We used to get Network Weekly(?) delivered here, but that stopped a while ago (seems publishing has been suspended)

Cheers, I've seen that setting and it's enabled -just setup our techs HTC running Android 2.2 and can see it 'obeys' these settings after asking if you accept them - most polite! It's phones like my N900 that ignore them I'm concerned about.

For some time now some of our staff (including me!) have been using their mobiles via activesync to connect to our Exchange 2007 box. Despite having policies in place for data security such as encrypting memory sticks and ensuring laptop hard disks are encrypted the use of mobiles for e-mail has completely passed me by..... I have now disabled activesync (yep, I'm not popular!) and am now looking at the policy settings and testing them. My question is, how are others using activesync and what policies (paper ones not activesync!) do you have in place? As for activesync, I know the iPhone can be locked down pretty well with the settings, but what about android, etc? My N900 running Maemo doesn't apply any settings... It seems a bit daft for us to have policies in place for enrypting data going off site and then allow e-mails offsite with no security!

I'm based in Bridgend S Wales, at present I can only deliver the program. I am, however, undergoing the Ambassador training in January and will be able to train up people to deliver the training after this. More than willing to offer advice, training, etc., to local schools or groups.

Certainly does, and it's most definitely a breach of trust. Problem is knowing how much people use IT these days, and what they store on their PC, for some unscrupulous it's just too tempting

In these increasingly financially difficult times, demos or just awareness of freebie MS products would be nice to! Version 5 is a lot quicker than previous ones, I also found when I had the e-mail not set up quite right it really slowed things down. 5 is a big step forward in functionality, and if the knowledgebase appears in 5.5 as promised I'll be one happy chappy!

80%, not looked at SBS and assumed the 2008 version was like Windows 2008 (not R2) and had 32 or 64bit versions... Never heard of PerformancePoint, Altair Basic or Ray whatshisface! With regard to Q8, I took the Windows 95 reference as irrelevant drivel and answered it based on the rest of the question.
