We're still using the Computer Configuration/Policies/Windows Settings/Printer Connections method here* and we're getting it too. * For most of our printers, because they're deployed by location, Science MFD, English MFD etc. The biiiig printers in Reprographics all staff get, and that's a User Configuration/Policies/Windows Settings/Printer Connections policy. Definitely seems to be a Windows 10 issue.

+1, League's system is terrible for fair play. Unfortunately it's also terrible for a balanced team, or any semblance of drafting. Rotating free heroes and purchased fixed ones mean that everyone gets into this idea of having 'a main' and often will lock it in without any regard to team composition because it's the only hero they're comfortable playing. The idea of drafting a team/outdrafting your opponents is nonexistent in casual play. Personally the only MOBA I've ever been able to get into is DOTA 2. But the learning curve can be pretty high.

We're having it here, too. Printers just disappear. Sometimes there's entries in 'Unknown Devices' but they don't actually get recognised as a printer despite working $Yesterday. Once a machine loses its network printers the only solution I've found is to reimage it. Once they're gone, they're gone. Kaput. Sayonara. Only things I've thought of to try is restarting the spooler service, un/reinstalling the drivers, and deleting the profiles. Each gives me nada. Oddly we're finding the same thing happens with USB external storage. A machine will just stop reading any and all expandable storage you attach until you reimage it and then it's all good again. It's driving me up the wall and it's too sporadic to properly debug (and once it fails, it gets reimaged sharpish because staff need it so I don't get long to troubleshoot the machine) All our staff are using local profiles. There's a few reg tweaks here-and-there but nothing major, it's just the standard profile Windows generates for a user in C:\Users when they first log on.

Just tried it again, repeated behaviour. ExamWritePad loads up fullscreen on the primary monitor, I put in bogus details and type a sentence or two and do not save the document. I then switch to Chrome on my 2nd screen and kill time until the 60s are up. I can see in the taskbar that the first Autosave prompt has appeared as it creates its own icon, and it shows up in the Alt+Tab switching, but it'll never bring the prompt to the front. I can alt-tab to it and then use the keyboard to accept and save my document, or cancel. Like I say though, I don't see this as being a big issue since the exam laptops only have one screen and since EWP forces focus they're not going to be using any other software as they write. But the behaviour appears consistently repeatable for me.

Bug? Even with "DoubleLineSpacingAtStartup" as 0, it uses double-line spacing. Once you print it reverts to single-line spacing. Doesn't seem to be doing it any more. Wut. Not sure if that's related to me already having printed. Will continue testing. Yep, confirmed. Double-spacing lines from the get-go even with DoubleLineSpacingAtStartup as 0. Edit: Also, if you're running 2 screens and doing something on screen #2 when the save prompt appears, the save prompt is permanently stuck behind the ExamWritePad window because ExamWritePad has forced focus. Unlikely to be an issue in an exam since they only have one screen and shouldn't have other software running.

I've actually had a free AP and a free Switch from Meraki.. I don't get any sales calls from them at all. I think I did get one or two but I was pretty honest with them at the time. Free kit is just to see what else is out there and mostly so I can muck about with a switch and not be fussed if I break it. We don't have the money to just rip apart our network and replace it all for no good reason. Genuinely, though, it seemed pretty good, and if I were building a network from scratch it's something I might consider depending on what their quote came in at.

I really don't get this.. 2 test users (+ a class full of actual users) The computers are all in the same OU The users are all in the same OU. The same policies are applying to everybody. The Test Users and actual Users are members of the same security groups. It works for 1 test account consistently. For everyone else (including the 2nd test account) it fails. the .csa file is there every single time Test Account 1 runs SolidWorks. It's never there when Test Account 2 or any of the actual kids run it.

Went to collect our exam laptops earlier today, bit of a weird one.. A bar across the bottom of the screen had appeared with a big red X in it. Didn't impede the functionality of the program in any way. Doesn't appear related to the file as when I loaded the file to print it, the bar wasn't there.

That's why we're in the Windows 10 forum Not sure about the issue being W10 itself. The software seems to work fine with the SRP (granted I'm no 3d modelling buff so I can only make a few random shapes and declare it 'working') and they were already using SolidWorks earlier this year before the SRP was implemented. The W10 install was done during the summer, I'd have expected any OS-related issues to have cropped up already. Changing %Temp%\* from Disallowed to Unrestricted results in fully working software, but having %Temp%\* set as Disallowed with an Unrestricted rule for %Temp\SolidWorksLicTemp* and %Temp%\SolidWorksLicTemp*\* results in failures. Upon further testing, changing %Temp%\* to just %Temp% (and leaving the Unrestricted rules in for SolidWorksLicTemp* and SolidWorksLicTemp*\*) still gives me working software. I'm going to keep rebooting and testing to see if it eventually fails again. Have I misunderstood how SRP works? Should I not be ending my SRP rules with \*? Edit: All the examples I found had \* at the end, but in reflection, I'm guessing that's not how it works? I'm assuming if you use \* it's everything in that path regardless of extension, and if it's just folder\ with no asterisk, it's only the designated file types? That would make sense to me but I can't find a solid answer either way.

Hmm.. I did clock the Data folder so I do have C:\SolidWorks Data set as Unrestricted too, but %SystemRoot%\Temp\* set as Disallowed. But even without the SRP, Directory Monitor tells me nothing is happening in C:\Windows\Temp What OS are you doing this with? %UserProfile% resolves as C:\Users\%Username%, and whilst there is a 'Local Settings', it appears to be one of those bad/nonexistent legacy shortcuts

Scratching my head with this one. With our SRP in place, Solidworks randomly locks up for 2-3 minutes when actions are taken and then eventually does what you've told it to do before locking up again. This goes on in a permanent loop whilst the software is open. With SRP disabled, everything works as normal. I'm having a difficult time because SolidWorks doesn't seem to be creating or accessing any file types that are defined within the SRP. Running Directory Monitor on the entire AppData folder, I find SolidWorks is creating .0001, .fpd, .tmp, .csa, .swp, and .bmp files in AppData/Local/Temp. The issue itself, at a best-guess, seems to revolve around the licensing file. With SRP disabled, SolidWorks creates a %temp%\SolidWorksLicTemp.0001.dir.0000 folder and fills it with the files ~df394b.tmp, ~efe2.tmp, ~defebe.tmp, Ky5s96SF.csa and PfdRun.pfd. It does the same for another folder, %temp%/SolidWorksLicTemp.0001.dir.0001, and everything works fine. With SRP enabled, SolidWorks still creates %temp%\SolidWorksLicTemp.0001.dir.0000 and %temp%\SolidWorksLicTemp.0001.dir.0000, but it only fills them with ~df394b.tmp, ~efe2.tmp and PfdRun.pfd. The program then periodically freezes and keeps creating new SolidWorksLicTemp.0001.dir. folders: 0002, 0003, 0004, 0005, 0006, 0007 etc ad infinitum. I've tried adding an Unrestricted rule for %Temp%\SolicWorksLicTemp*, and that works... Until it doesn't. It worked for about three or four reboots and then just stopped, and we're back to only having the files ~df394b.tmp, ~efe2.tmp and PfdRun.pfd.

I can't say how they did it, all I can say is two laptops ended up in a situation where the details prompt was behind the main window. I'll have a play with one of the laptops later and see if I can reproduce it. I didn't want to test it at the time since it was needed for an exam. I know, I know, least helpful bug report ever I'll post if I figure it out.

Used it today, seems well received, but we had two kids somehow (no idea how) get stuck on the software with the details prompt not having focus. Easily fixed with an alt+tab, so not a huge problem, but perhaps it might be worth making the info prompt either always on top or part of the primary window rather than its own separate one? Overall though, lightweight and useful piece of software. Much better than giving them WordPad and expecting them to follow instructions about header-ing their work with the right details. Would recommend.
