Y'know.. I'm not entirely sure we're barking up the right tree, here.. So I made an MST with Foxit's tool, opened the MSI with Orca, applied that MST and saved the modified file as its own MSI. This MSI now works. I have checked by running the install interactively, and going to 'Custom', that everything is disabled except Spellcheck. If I launch Foxit on my test PC, I don't get the 'Tracker', 'Check In', 'Check Out', 'Discard Check Out' and 'Document Properties' options on the Share tab like I get on my admin PC (which was installed via the vanilla MSI). I assume these are the ConnectedPDF options. My test pc still gets the UAC prompt from "C:\Program Files (x86)\Foxit Software\Foxit Reader\FoxitReader.exe" -register

Vanilla MSI works fine. It's the one created with Orca that's the issue

The plot thickens: This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package. I think I dun goof'd somewhere.

Done, thanks. CPDF_DISABLE_B and CPDF_DISABLE are already set as 1? Also NoConnectedPDF doesn't exist in Component. Yes it does, but sording by Component doesn't sort them all alphabetically. So that's nice. Looks like they've rewritten how the installer works! Time to dig through and see what I find..

Nada. Even pushing it out via 'Advanced' rather than 'Assigned' and specifying the .mst, still getting that UAC prompt >.< I'll give Orca a try then.

I don't know what customised installer you're talking about. When I filled out the Enterprise form I wasn't given a way to customise the install, I was just given an MSI and the ADM/AMXL/ADMX files. Are you saying I should have been given a way to customise my Foxit install? Or are you talking about options you're presented with when doing an interactive install? Edit: Also, 'Disable ConnectedPDF Features' was Enabled via Group Policy for Computer settings. I've just put it in for User settings too. We'll see if that makes a difference.

I Enabled 'Remove Plugins' and ticked 'Updater' and 'LicenseManager' when I was first setting it up, but have since ticked everything else in the list and it still throws the prompt Edit: And it's not 'Forbid Checking of Default PDF Viewer' either. I thought maybe the process/switch might be ambiguously named ('register foxit as default viewer' or something) but nope..

Nope, no dice. I've applied the policy in Users and still get the credential prompt on first launch. The Computer policy states: Enable this option to forbid 'Registration' dialog and remove 'Registration' item from 'Help' tab. The User policy states: Enable this option to forbid 'Registration' dialog and remove 'Registration' item from 'Help' tab. So I figured they were the same and applied the Computer policies, that way I could keep it bundled in the same GPO as the .msi installer. Keep it neat. But even from User, nothin'.

Phone performance tests aren't like PC performance tests. They're not supposed to be indicative of maximum potential. It's not about pushing the hardware to its limit. It's about how the phone performs day-to-day for your average end-user. And this is clearly not an accurate representation of that.

To clarify: The issue I'm complaining about isn't directly from within the Foxit application itself, it's the typical "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?" elevated credential prompt from UAC. However, Foxit does launch before this prompt appears. If I login as my admin account and run Foxit, the same UAC prompt appears just with Yes/No. If I click Yes, then login with a new Staff (Non-admin) account, the prompt still appears for that account. GPResult is definitely saying the policy is being applied. Are you applying by Computer or by User?

Yes, with a question mark? Filled out the Foxit Reader for Enterprise form and got the msi and ADM/ADMX/ADML files. Yeah, I've disabled Advertisement, Automatic Update, Start Page and Registration via GPO. But as mentioned, turning off Registration via GP only gets rid of the option from the Help menu. It doesn't appear to be stopping Foxit from running the .exe file with the -register switch (and I've checked the shortcut, the shortcut definitely isn't using the switch, it's just a vanilla link to the exe)

So we're jumping ship from Adobe Acrobat Reader DC to Foxit PDF Reader because we're sick of staff not being able to edit PDF files and apparently exam boards are using PDF's more frequently. However, whenever a user first launches Foxit, they are presented with a UAC prompt coming from "C:\Program Files (x86)\Foxit Software\Foxit Reader\FoxitReader.exe" -register This will be no good because A) Most staff won't know to just cancel off it, and B) Student profiles are wiped every boot, so this will constantly show up for the kids. I've already loaded the Foxit ADMX/ADML's into the DC and looked through their settings. There is a setting under Administrative Templates\Foxit Reader 8.3\Preferences reading Remove 'Registration' but that only removes registration from the Help menu once you're in the software, nothing to do with the registering at-launch. I'd post on their forums but since it's currently housing some spam (1, 2) I'm not exactly enthused by the idea of signing up and posting.

£550 includes protective case + dash charging plug. OnePlus have grown significantly as a company and I think the price increases are representative of that.. Unfortunately the specs of the phone aren't keeping as 'flagship killer' as the One was. The 3T still looks pretty good though, but at £400 it's still cheaper to have my S7 Edge repaired. So my mind is made up. Sorry OnePlus, it's not me, it's you.

TL;DR - The phone detects when a benchmark app is running and locks components at their highest possible frequency. This results in temps of over 50°C with GPU-intensive apps.

I genuinely don't understand why it's such a big deal. Who the heck uses 64GB of space on their phone? Even if you're literally taking hundreds of photos every day... Transfer them to your PC! >.<

Anybody wanting to purchase a OnePlus 5, the Early Drop code is 'Clearer Photos' I have to admit I'm sorely tempted, but at almost twice the cost of repairing my S7 Edge (£300 repair, £551.33 OnePlus 5, Dash charger and protective case), I'm not 100% convinced by it. It's pretty difficult to justify for not getting much extra. The dual camera is really nice, but I don't really take photos at all. 1080p is a good choice for battery life, but the S7 Edge is 1440p. The processor isn't much better, and the S7 Edge has a larger battery. It's tempting.. But I think I'm gonna go with repairing my S7 Edge.

Overcooked isn't serious at all. The idea is cooking, yeah. You need to prep meals in a restaurant kitchen. But the kitchens are absurd, such as earthquakes splitting it in half or half of each kitchen being on different vans that periodically overtake each other. Or a in haunted house where the utilities rearrange themselves. So sure, the actual 'you pressing buttons' bit is 'Pick up tomato, chop tomato, put in pan. Repeat x2 more. Put pan on burner. Make soup. Serve soup.', or 'Get meat. Tenderise meat. Put meat in pan. Put pan on burner. Put burger in bun. Serve burger.' but it's the bizarreness of the kitchens (plus the bit where you bounce off other players) that makes the game amusing. It's more of a puzzle game with a cooking theme than it is a cooking game. Definitely not a game to play solo.

I don't. I haven't bought a OnePlus since my One, and I think depending on what's confirmed (or confirmed not) with the 5 launch will decide on whether I repair my S7 Edge or not
