Well today I had a call from Montenegro that I summarily ignored, then two hours later a call from London (likely to just be a rented/redirected number) which actually left a robotic voicemail about how HMRC have a fraud case in my name and I must press 1 to speak to an advisor.

There are weird boxes you can get that MITM between your phone and line and the caller has to type in a code or the phone call won't go through. Pain in the backside, and it means you have to give everyone the code, so probably best not to do any business-y stuff through your landline, but it's an option. ... or you just do that I do and don't even bother plugging a phone in. On my test rig, manually, Users+Registry. 'Out in the wild', using the GPO method, but there was an issue with extensions/default software that necessitated removing all profiles, which has now bork'd software. @Benzini00 we aren't using roaming profiles though, and nor do we have the infrastructure to at the moment. Just local ones, with group policy and folder redirection doing the gruntwork.

I don't suppose I'd be so lucky that a solution was found in the past few months? I thought this issue was down to me using mandatory profiles in my last school, but I've done everything local here and the issue still presents itself.. Once you remove a profile, the UWP apps that I left in the image (Calculator, Photos, Snip & Sketch etc) fail. Except Camera, for some reason Camera still works. Sticky Notes, too. I'm assuming my only option is 'go with third party flavours' (Speedcruch, Irfanview, Greenshot, etc)

It doesn't even do that. They can't perform marketing calls. They can perform surveys. Which then they oh so coincidentally have something for $that.

Too many bits of software clutter themselves in the root of the Start Menu, so we have Remove common program groups from Start menu enabled.

What're people doing with regard to GDFS folder structure and creating shortcuts? We've done a small test case of it here and it's worked great, so I've told SCCM to push it out to all staff machines, but looking at the ones that already have it installed, there's a myriad of versions dotted around (42.0.10.0, 42.0.11.0, 43.0.8.0) each with their own complete structure and GoogleDriveFS.exe. I tried just making a shortcut to the .lnk file in ProgramData but apparently Windows doesn't like you doing that. Edit: Closest I've got is the previous post with the reg keys, but that throws the software up and login and I'd rather users choose whether to use it or not.

My current school doesn't offer flu jabs I mean I always had to pay for it anyway, but that never bothered me. It's just the last place arranged for a pharmacy to come in and administer them. If by 'several' you mean 'about half our allocation', yup. Right here. We sent letters home to all parents who's pupils had been allocated one (we require a parent/guardian/etc to sign the loaned quipment agreement) and haven't heard back from half of them. We even had a few that outright refused.

We've been told that the LA ones are property of the school. Well, no, we haven't, not quite, but we've been told they will be at some point. The gov' are switching off their filtering/etc in October 2021 so the guy from the council I've been emailing says that the school will have to take responsibility for them at some point between now and then, and then they'll be ours.

This is basically it. I mean no disrespect to your platform, but given that our school already provides staff with Office 365 and G Suite credentials. The majority of schools will have OVS agreements with Microsoft, which entitles them to Office 365. Google provides a limited G Suite free to educational establishments. Both of these platforms do so much more than Zoom does, whilst also completely covering what Zoom has to offer. Both these platforms also employ considerable levels of auditing that allows us to monitor or, should the worst happen, investigate a breach. Your functionality already exists with other services we have. Why should we give our user information to you? Not to imply your security is lacking, but the more your details are out there, there's a higher inherent risk. Either more services that can potentially be breached and leak our user credentials (and we all know users reuse passwords, despite our pleas not to).. Or more services a user potentially could fall victim to from a phishing attack.

Bit of a necrobump, but does anybody have a valid method of silently installing this software? Running the .exe with /? lists /L , /S and /v/qn as valid switches.. START /WAIT "Casio Emulator" \\path\to\installer.exe /S /v/qn fails silently. I feel like dramatising it that way is the only way to make 'the masses' understand. I think it probably just falls a bit flat for us because we're in a career where we kind of already know how it works, broadly speaking. I mean sure there's not literally a bunch of dudes in a room deciding what's happening for every facebook user, but generally speaking it was a good effort at portraying the process and how disinformation and conspiracies spread.

I've had to do some digging on this because my school also bought alcohol-free wipes. It all depends on what their active ingredient is. Quaternary ammonium cations ('quats') should be effective because they disrupt viral envelopes, and SARS-CoV-2 is an enveloped virus. However, massive emphasis on the should, I haven't actually found any studies/tests to confirm. No idea about polymeric biocides, though.
