    Howdy

Prove it. Show us the cat! And also welcome
  2. Had to say that one out loud before I twigged!
  3. I tend to avoid looking up reviews for tv shows because they often tend to be a bit spoiler-y Movies and games hardly ever seem to be.. Or maybe I just have rubbish luck.
  4. Anyone watched any Cursed yet? Netflix has been recommending it to me pretty heavily, and I'm a little intrigued..
  5. Option switch?
  6. For once, I'm actually inclined to say "For the greater good", but I know that's not a good precedent to set..
  7. Er, (but seriously the discord is super useful for asking those random questions you don't want to start threads over, finding idiots people to game with, having a quick rant, or just being social)
  8. Oh no. Who ever could have predicted this? This could in no way ever have been expected! Do you see how shocked I am? [emoji52]
  9. Also a fair point, hadn't considered that.
  10. I'm not usually the kind to shrug off safeguarding, but honestly my thoughts are "Somebody else's problem" The DfE have set these laptops up and not given us any say over them. Even if the filtering were grossly inadequate and only allowed pornography, there's nothing I can do about it. (Okay, I couldn't in good conscience hand them out in that state, but y'know, hyperbole..) For the most part, they're going to be used on someone else's network. That means if there's any issues, it's up to the managers of that network (i.e. the parents) to sort them out. I'd be happy to advise if any of them phoned the school asking to be pointed in the right direction, but beyond that, there's nothing else that can be done.
  11. That's pretty much the only requests I've had to field so far.. Easy solution, but still.. C'mon, DfE. NetPLWiz. It's not hard. I'd do it for them, but nooooo, we're not allowed the administrative credentials. Makes you wonder what we're supposed to do when we get them back? DfE guidance says we have to keep them spare just in case there's another mass closure, which means A) They're going to be sat there, on a shelf somewhere, doing nowt, when they could be put to better use, and B) we're going to have to go through each laptop and manually clear off any data just in case. Also there's going to be a lot of angry parents because manglement didn't read the information properly so the first batch of parents were told the laptops were 'essentially theirs', and they could keep them until the kid was off-roll! (I'll take some of the blame, I didn't check either, but I wasn't involved in requesting these, they just showed up, so I figured whoever had ordered them knew what was up..) Thankfully I put in a "returned at the agreed end date, when no longer needed, or at request from $school" in the contract they sign!
  12. I mean, I wouldn't wish it on anybody. But if that's what it takes for a government to take it seriously...
  13. We definitely know Trolls do.
  14. Yes, that is this thread in a nutshell, please enjoy your stay
  15. Selfishness, complacency, or both. Edit: I've seen a fair few posts circulating on facebook from the police in my area's official pages, about shutting down raves and allsorts! It's crazy.
  16. I think Family Guy said it best: Damn, Nature! You scary!
  17. Staff here are pretty reliant on ActivInspire so we're locked into Promethean here. We've got some really old 1st generation boards (with the thick white bezel and the huge black circle) that just don't work with W10 at all, so we're having to get replacements in. I'm thinking of going for the ABV378PRO model, as we already have some of those here so the staff are kind of used to them. Unfortunately I'm having to source a lot of kit at the moment (end user PC's, laptops, servers, the works) so our budget is getting pretty stretched. So far I've found this listing by Refurbished ICT but, as is tradition, I need 3 quotes. Are there any Promethean partners or other such refurbishers that anyone can recommend?
  18. Congratulations on your promotion, and welcome!
  19. Sure, PM me your e-mail and I'll fire it across
  20. If you're talking typical Ts&Cs for parents to sign, I don't mind throwing mine at you.
  21. Can woodwork/RM not knock up something? You essentially just need a big board screwed into two feet.
  22. This right here. Housemate's in a call centre, CAPITA have given them PC's + peripherals to work from. That's fair, monitor that all you like (no idea if they are, though. I'm pretty sure the PC just runs Citrix and VPN's in). If they wanted him to install monitoring software and use his own personal PC he'd be kicking up a stink.
  23. I expected to have to do a few different practice runs to figure out the colours for Wracks, but I reckon I've nailed it in one! Edit: damnit EduGeek and your rotated images
  24. I haven't dared to try any OSL yet. It's subtle, but it looks great!
