I hate football. The next month will be made even more worse as I live with two avid Boro fans who, no doubt, will be plastering the walls with posters and flags and other associated tat they can pick up relating to the world cup.

I would probably look at implementing a REST-based service for the Android/remote part. Code your internal/database interaction as classes and functions, and then have the website and the REST interface use these as needed. Use something like Flourish or CodeIgniter to help you; why re-invent the wheel? I saw a great presentation by PHP guru Loran Jane Mitchell a few months ago - PHP And Web Services: Perfect Partners

Thanks mrbios. What things would you like to see in your hybrid vision? I could look at implementing those into version 2 if they'd be beneficial. ZeroHour: that's the great thing about choice For some people "frigging with apache/php/mysql" (sudo tasksel lamp-server) will be easier than faffing around with IIS and MSSQL; and for some obviously it's the opposite. And yes, absolutely - there have been some great improvements in IIS7, especially with PHP performance.
-
That's a fair point, but integrated auth isn't needed if you handle it using various other methods in the script. IIS may be available, but some people may not want to run it for performance, security or other reasons; or they may run Linux exclusively on the servers. They may already have IIS running their other sites and not want anything else to interfere with them and vice-versa. The way I look at it (and most things which is for other people too) is - if there's more than one way of doing it, why do it the way that forces users down one particular route if it can be helped? I'm sure the EduGeek LogonTracker is a very nice piece of software...

ZeroHour: My thoughts are that ASP/.NET needs IIS which only runs under Windows. Whereas PHP can run under Apache, Lighttpd, IIS, Nginx on Windows, Linux, BSD - any platform you choose. I'm all about choices.
-
@sister_annex I doubt that will happen I'm not an ASP/.NET coder, and I believe that Windows & IIS should not be a requirement for the web side of it.

I get a graze box once a week. Code: PJR9LCMR

I love the QWERTY on Bossman's Bold 9700 - making my ideal smartphone Blackberry Bold 9700 hardware running the latest Android OS. Wishful thinking

Mine was never intended to logoff either current or existing sessions as a primary feature

@plexer Yes, potentially - you'd have to create another VBScript and run it though and/or be able to send XMLHttpRequests (will be addressed in the next version). But it certainly doesn't reveal domain administration credentials.
-
My LoginTracker doesn't contain any usernames or passwords in the VBScript

Becta isn't the BSF quango the last time I checked - that's PfS.
-
Isn't it a bit insecure to place domain admin credentials in a logon script which every user has access to?

There are a couple of sound effect albums on Spotify. But I don't think you can record the wave out/stereo mix on the same PC. Try taking the physical stereo out of the source and send it to the Line In of another box to record.

Take your pick. At home I use elements - carbon, neon, titanium, mercury, zinc etc.

I have phone insurance through my bank account at no additional cost. If you have a history of being a careful owner then you're unlikely to need it. But there is always the chance of it being stolen so it's a worth-while thing to have, because they aren't very cheap to replace out of your own pocket. Good choice on the HTC Desire

As an alternative, you might want to check out a similar system I developed a while ago called LoginTracker. It's freely available under the GPL license on my website here: Craig Rodway No need for Microsoft technologies on the server-side either. Version 2 is in development.

I have some freelance work to do this weekend but I got up at 1pm today. Needed the lie in

That depends on how 'worth' is defined. If people give positive reputation for "funny" stuff, then it's obviously something that (some) people are happy with (otherwise they wouldn't give the rep). Just because their post content doesn't match a pre-set criteria shouldn't detract from the ability to accrue reputation.

Interesting. Mitch Albom.com - Tuesdays With Morrie I'm currently on with Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four.

We're in the process of upgrading to CC4 on non-RM workstations and have had no issues building them on. The driver import feature in the Management Console has worked perfectly for everything; including the previously-problematic Realtek HD Audio drivers which needed the KB888111 MS hotfix. Our machines include standard hardware and are custom-built by Millennium Business Systems.

We've been using TightVNC here for years, it's just a simple registry key to hide the icon.

Where? http://stuff.m0php.net/pics/2010-05-28_091813.jpg AFAIK, the BBC site only carries adverts for non-UK visitors, based on IP address.
