jem961: Have you discussed the computer-related issues with other students in a formal way - e.g. school council or similar group? Have your concerns been relayed to staff at the school? Is it a problem for everyone in all places within the school, or just certain people and specific locations/types of computer? It's ridiculous that that learning time is still been negatively affected by the changes that the school has gone through.

You need to call the function get_monday() and give it a date (today's date). E.g. // Define the function that gets the monday function get_monday($date){ // Find start of week of given date in format YYYY-MM-DD $dateparts = explode('-', $date); $thedate = mktime(0, 0, 0, $dateparts[1], $dateparts[2], $dateparts[0]); if( date("w", $thedate) == 1 ){ $monday = date("Y-m-d", $thedate); } else { $monday = date("Y-m-d", strtotime("last Monday", $thedate)); } return $monday; } // Call the function and assign return value to a variable $monday = get_monday(date('Y-m-d')); // Run query $theme = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM themes WHERE date = '$monday'"); $themes = mysql_fetch_array($theme); echo "" .$themes['theme'].""; ?>

Just find the Monday date of the week that you're currently in, and then query on that. This function might help you. Give it today's date, and it will give you current/last Monday's date. All in yyyy-mm-dd format. function get_monday($date){ // Find start of week of given date in format YYYY-MM-DD $dateparts = explode('-', $date); $thedate = mktime(0, 0, 0, $dateparts[1], $dateparts[2], $dateparts[0]); if( date("w", $thedate) == 1 ){ $monday = date("Y-m-d", $thedate); } else { $monday = date("Y-m-d", strtotime("last Monday", $thedate)); } return $monday; }

I like to think of it as sharing good practice and helping each other out That's what this community is all about, isn't it?

Works fine for us on the same ISP.

Videos, by their very nature, are always going to be quite large compared to JPEGs etc. Where does your restriction on sizes come from - bandwidth/costs, local storage?

I used this site for a recent video I put together (free registration required): Stock Footage for Free

No, just using the best and most convenient tool for the job. It looks a lot less busy and easier to use with only the top 3 boxes expanded (the default when the page loads). Almost everything is an icon, so they don't even have to read (as we know most of them don't!)

glennda: As vikpaw says, it's using IIS integrated Windows authentication to identify the user.

It should be pretty straight-forward. Cron isn't needed if you point Xibo at a PHP file that simply outputs the RSS dynamically-generated from the DB. You just need to retrieve some articles from the DB, and instead of displaying them in HTML format like you might do already, just output the correct XML tags and HTTP header. Here's something to get you started. // Correct RSS XML header header("Content-Type: application/rss+xml"); // get your items from the DB (replace with your own code to get stuff from DB) $notices = get_from_db(); echo '' . "\n"; ?> Staff notices Staff notice board messages http://server/noticeboard http://server/noticeboard/view.php

Thanks Vikpaw. That's just the count of tickets created by the current user (and hyperlinked to their contents page on Liberum)

Welcome to EduGeek, Emma. I think a Wiki would be a good fit for what you want to achieve. There are loads of free ones that have similar requirements to Moodle (but generally easier to install) - some of the most popular ones: Wikka: Welcome to WikkaWiki MediaWiki http://www.dokuwiki.org/dokuwiki Or, you could use a hosted solution like Wikispaces or pbwiki. This might help deciding: WikiMatrix - Compare them all

A friend of mine created a "simulator" for the Tyne & Wear Metro - not based on live data or an API, but the timetable. Interesting idea, and shows what can be done at a minimum if data is available... Alistair's Metro Simulator

Might be worth checking the contents of the RM log files in %Program Files%\Research Machines\Network Management\LogFiles (or similar).
