She's a good strong Northern lass from Sheffield and I have to say that some of our other athlete's who never faired well should take note of her attitude as this has really made people sit up and take notice, it's not just the chosen few from the southern athletic clubs and the elite rowing fraternity that can attain Gold medal status! My hat off to her and all the other British "Gold medal winners" as second and third is just that "Not first"

@mp4-dave: Having just remoted in to our servers it seems that I do have the driver for the 82579LM and it does support all windows versions including the PE which you will require to build on to the CC4 network. It definately doesn't support the other type though. As @SYNACK has mentioned it might be in your favour to get a quote from another major player and ask them specifically for the nic which you know will work and a price to match.

@mp4-dave: The drivers for this particular chipset don't work as they are provided by a third party manafacturer and when trying to import the drivers ini via the RMMC it is refused due to their not being a properly signed file. I had to change from using the onboard Nic to the intel pro 1000 desktop which works perfect. I will of course be looking at what can be done for the future as the pro 1000 nic will not always be available. I have never used RM hardware although supposedly very good it was massively over-priced, I do know that they are now trying to become competetive in the drive to attain more market share so it might be feesable to ask them first for a quote before purchasing from an unkown quantity. I have been using Gigabyte boards for the past 4 years with no problem whatsoever as they always came with good onboard realtek Nic drivers which we could always import into the drivers build section. @SYNACK you are right in your evaluation of Intel and their default drivers being rubbish.

That is what I would do given that the NAS would be on the same network address as the SAN rather than being on the same network as your LAN so that it would have direct connectivity via the switch with 2 nics for failover, one connection to each switch. This is how Citrix has defined it for XenServer

@wesleyw: Did you upgrade or install from new? Just done the upgrade from 5.6SP2 on my Dell 3 host pool and had problems with the rolling pool upgrade tool so had to go to manual upgrade and had to reconfigure settings on the second and third host but all is well. It could be that you may have to reconfigure the connection on your second host. Also I wouldnt recommend pooling your 2 hosts and running HA as this has an inherent fault which is documented on the Citrix website.

Even I could have predicted the financial state of the country for the next 3 years it doesn't take a genuis, labour would have done exactly the same under the circumstances in fact it was Labour with the help of Maggie Thatcher (brought in the credit reform) who got us into this mess with the spend spend throw money at white elephant projects and the workshy and those who came from other countries. How are we going to get through this, well as explained lots of people are such as me and you who pay their taxes under the PAYE scheme, it is us and the good old car driver who are supporting this country through paying their taxes that is keeping this countries head above water as we could be like other european countries where the unemployment rate has reached 40% and rising with no chance of recuperating for the next 10 to 20 years. I do feel for those people affected by all this but understand this i have worked hard all my working life since 14 year's old and have seen this country go to the dog's via the do-gooders trying to make our social system better but in reality creating a Frankestillian state were some people don't give anything to the country or the economy but take out billions and those are the one's who don't work won't work and those who earn millions and don't give a damn! Double dip recession i've seem it all before since the 70's and it was there again in the 80's and 90's and will keep on repeating until government's stop thinking short term and get down to the long term. Rant over and @CyberNerd: this is not aimed at you but you gave me the bullets to fire............sorry!! Ooh! and @mattx: you should know better than point the finger at one man even though it might seem that he is the one who is making the mistakes, at least he is trying something and not just sitting on his backside unlike many in this country who thinks the world owe's them a living. I'm not having a go at you personally but it is too easy for us to point the finger like the media bandwagon, we all need to understand that this is not going to get better for a few years at least.

As I stated in my post, we were not privvie to the internal politics between 2 companies as far as we were concerned we were dealing with just WebAnyWhere and that has remained, I have no doubt that both solutions have their strong points as well as their challenging points but you have to make a choice and that is where the problem for you lies, I do feel in a way that you have answered your own question by what you have posted, if you are happy with something then stick with it, if not look at a solution that you feel will benefit your school and go that way. If you are not confident in a company no amount of persuasion from anyone should detract you from doing what you feel is best for your school. I am confident that WebAnyWhere delivers what we as a school require and that is all I can say on the matter, I cannot give people advice based on their schools needs and requirements just our own experience. I do hope that both companies resolve their issues as it does seem that both companies can and do deliver similar products well based on the comments from people all over the country.

The original solution was with WebAnyWhere and had no bearing on Overnet data as far as I am aware. As for the AD and Sims data being irrelevant I do feel that it is, as this is where all your user data is aligned to, ours pulls in the data from the Sims to create the user accounts within Moodle and then align's it with our AD using one of the fields within the users data profile, it works well as far as we have experienced but I am sure there will be endusers out there who will have had challenging experiences but I have to date not had any contact me and tell me so and quite a few people have contacted me personally asking which platform we have used for our VLE and who has provided our solution, I just tell them it is WebAnyWhere. Why are you not happy with your solution, what problems are you getting and can they not be rectified? I do find working together closely with WebAnyWhere has helped us create a good relationship and any challenges that have arisen have been quickly and effectively ironed out. I would not feel that it is necessary to condemn a company openly in public as this is not the done thing in my eye's, it doesn't get things resolved and also make's for a bad feeling amongst people which when all said and done can be resolved by getting together and talking it out. I do sincerely hope you can get your problems sorted quickly and effectively and your endusers can go about there business of teaching from your VLE.

@Paulo123: We use WebanyWhere's Sims integration package along with other developments and to date we have nothing but praise for the company along with many others around the country to my knowledge. As long as your Sims data and your AD is all in good shape then there is no problems as ever the computing protocol is: input, process, output, if your input data is not correct then your output data is going to follow the same route. As with any DB it can sometimes be a little awkward in getting the information you require out but then to publish that data through a web interface also has its difficulties. As with any development it is always changing and this belies the reasons for good support from the company you undertake to help you with your development. Take a look at all the other VLE developed solutions and how much they cost and how they are supported, for the money I feel WebAnyWhere give good value. @glennda: Our Moodle is virtualised on seperate hardware but we could have had it running on our Xenserver pool if we had requested and cost nothing like what you have displayed here. We didn't go with all the other VLE developers as we thought that for the costs WebAnyWhere gave great service and value in comparison. These are my views based on actual facts from our experience with WebAnyWhere.

Ditto here, as you state, its amazing how many are suddenly found when they are told this, most come back from home after being put in pocket when at school and inadvertently taken home where they would stay and eventually be thrown out by the teacher or staff member instead of being brought back to school. I am looking at re-doing our asset management system with asset tags which will be stuck to the back of the remote and will be registered as that unit belonging to that room so that staff cannot pinch the other classroom remotes also.

Indian: Homemade Rogan Josh (Lamb, Beef or Chicken): Serves 4 – 6 persons Ingredients: 3 tsp lemon Juice (fresh if possible) 25ml (one cup) Natural Yogurt 2 tsp salt (Sea Salt ground if possible) 1 tsp Sugar 3 Garlic cloves crushed or finely chopped 2.5 cm piece of fresh root ginger 2lb Lamb cubed (Remember the cheaper the cut the longer the cooking) 6 tbsp Cooking oil Half a tsp of cumin seeds 2 Bay Leaves 4 Green cardamom pods 4 onions finely chopped 2 tsp ground coriander 2 tsp ground cumin 1 tsp chili powder 1 can chopped tomatoes 2 tsp tomato puree (paste) 150 ml water Method: 1. Mix Lemon juice, Yogurt, salt, sugar, half the crushed or chopped garlic and the ginger in a large bowl, add the cubed lamb and marinate overnight. 2. Heat the oil in a large pan over medium heat, add the cumin seeds, fry for a couple of minutes then add the cardamom pods and bay leaves, fry for another 2 minutes. 3. Add the onion and fry for 5 minutes. Add the coriander, cumin and chilli powder, fry for 2 minutes more. 4. Add the marinated 5. lamb to the pan and cook for a further 5 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent mixture from sticking to the base of the pan and burning. 6. Stir in the tomatoes, tomato puree and water. Cover and simmer for around an hour to one hour and a half, garnish with toasted cumin seeds and serve with plain boiled rice. You probably won't require starters as this dish when served with chapatis and keema or ordinary nan bread will fill your partner up to the gills. Serve with a nice full bodied red wine and your all set. Have a good evening

@MrWu: @webman and myself had a similar project which we undertook a year and a half ago, after a years planning and testing and without consultancy we went through a total change management procedure in 9 days and the test of this was in the staff and students useage the first 2 weeks of the new term, success rate was 99.8% positive. If you have planned and tested as you say you have then you should find everything comes together according to that plan and will work, as ever there are certain contingencies that you cannot cater for and this is when your skills will be tested. Good luck for the summer and I am sure everything will work out just fine.

Invest in a good print management system which will allow you to set a credits system and also for the printing to be monitored and the costs can be divided by the subject quotas and how much printing they have done. This will stop you having to stop students printing from whichever printer as the print management system will send to the appropriate printer and the costs bourne by the subjects will be worked out automatically. I am sure if you engage with a good print management software company they will be able to help you set it up and train your relevent technical staff on the use and management of it. Try not to make things too complicated with scripts and things as this is when it all goes to pot and you end up chasing your tail. Good luck with your decision

I have had a look at seton and they rip your eyes out and then suck the juice out of the sockets nearly £1000 quid for 1000 labels!!!! I have found this Custom Labels - Asset Labels, Asset Tags, Warranty Labels and Calibration Labels the guy who I spoke to is a real gem and will help you every which way including discount for educational institutions as his wife is a teacher. They will send you out a sample which you can sort over the web. Cost for 2000 labels = £300 a lot less than Seton and good quality security tags they are with your own design and logo.

@glennda: How lucky for you that you are in our great capital................London where the pavements are paved with gold and all the rest of the country have to scrimp and save for the scraps which it throws from its table. How lucky you are to live in the Capital and work there were "fair usage" is the keyword of the day as far as ISP's in London are concerned, why is this you ask? Is it because they are fleecing the Northern part of the country who don't have the infrastucture to support cheap broadband connectivity? Well the divide just gets bigger and bigger doesn't it? I'm really pleased that you only have to pay for fair usage as we have to pay £8.5k per annum for 10mb and our school is pushed to pay that but we require it, I have seen how London schools tend to fair in the grand scheme of things and they fair a lot better than those schools up North believe me.
