@MordyT: Update: Unplugged server from the network and into a spare unmanaged switch which had a Virtual DC server attached with a different FQDN and then changed the domain name after adding the accounts to the DC of both the local admin of the TS server and an admin account from the TS (Original name and password), this after 5 mins worked and this allowed me to change it to a workgroup which in turn when I rejoined it to the original domain which it came from worked so all is back up and running. Seems that there was no explanation as to why I couldn't join it back to the domain or to a workgroup in the first place but all is well now thanks.

I just use the backup tool in SQL to set a task sequence which backs up all the databases into a set folder and this is then backed up daily by our normal school backup solution using BE, SQL backs up throughout the weekly 7 days (People may have altered files remotely on the weekend) and it is set to keep the last 3 backups only after it has completed the 7 days backups via another set task within SQL, This works very well along with our VM backup of the server we have it pretty much covered from all possibilities as far as we are able.

Iv'e just received the following notification: The following patch(s) has been released to you and can be downloaded via the SOLUS Wizard: Patch: Patch 18525 [896-897] (Consolidated Exams patch) When I go to download the latest updates I don't even get the message "There are no downloads" it just shuts down the "Connecting to CCS update server to check for updates" after a few seconds, strange! Will give it a couple of days

Pleased I did mine all in one go first week of the holidays, I'm sure it will be up and running soon @FragglePete although it is very frustrating when this happens, goes to show that even Capita have server problems hehe!

@MordyT: Thank you for your reply, It would seem such a simple thing to rejoin it to the Domain but there in lies the problem? Even with the local Administrator account you would think that it would have the permissions but no, its because the OS has somehow managed to unjoin from the domain yet still have domain credentials attached to it and no cached domain passwords, I have trawled every piece of knowledgebase but to no avail, as I have said even using IDR backup with our DRP it still won't join the domain. Have a good day

Update: Have built new server as a VM and will continue to test, thanks to all those 148 people who have viewed, after much research it seems that I don't have any choice but to rebuild from scratch. Even IDR failed so its back to the drawing board regarding DRP Cheers

Hi All, Strange one this, our terminal server lost connection during an electrical outage although it was still running on UPS the switch it was connected too was not, this has cause it to lose its authentication with the DC, I have tried all the usual things but the problem lies in that there is no domain account (even cached) to authenticate with the DC, although I can get logged in using the local admin account it doesn't have the rights to join the server back to the domain or even change it to a workgroup so that I can rejoin the domain. Has anyone ever come across this? How did they sort? Would appreciate as I have covered everything that I know or have researched and my brain hurts! Appreciated Bossman

@free780: Well they can bring in as many nasty VM's as they like, they still wouldn't be able to run them haha! All fastened down tight as a drum using RMCC4 which is a useful tool and has been for the past 12 years. Have been toying with the idea of building a virtual 2012 vanilla network with windows 8.1 clients using our Xenserver pool but have'nt had the time yet to implement. Looking forward to using as our CPD server and then implementing as network OS if it fits the schools criteria. Happy Hunting!

@mrbios: I too like you was a little reluctant to go with the Solus deployment but after the initial shock and a couple of problems it now seems to have settled itself and works just as it is expected to do. We use all the services Sims, FMS and Discover and once you get your head round it you will be pleasantly surprised I would advocate going down the Solus route after the Summer upgrade which will then support 2012 SQL Good luck to you

That would suit me down to the ground as it's exactly what I do now, in fact it's actually less than i do now but more remuneration and line management looks interesting as they are recruiting your line manager also, I took note of the person specification for both roles and it made me laugh at how little was required for the post of Assistant HT and yet the Strategic ICT manager was written across 2 pages of A4! Only difference was degree and teaching qualification, could have put in for both if I had PGCE as I have everything else, if it wasn't so far away...................never mind suppose I will just have to soldier on hehe! First thing in the morning and then after exercise or before bed, "Cleanliness is next to godliness" so they tell me but then I'm not religious but don't knock those that are, each to their own. Hmm I do smell nice so I am told by many people both at work and outside of work. Plus the older you get the smellier you become so it seems, maybe that's why hospitals and old people's homes smell of uncleanliness. Don't mean to offend but this I have encountered personally when visiting old people in both hospital and in residential homes.

What about water vapour being created? Is this syphoned off by a filter as I seem to remember when using and designing compressed air systems for pneumatic equipment that we had to fit a hydro-vane system with a separate air dryer unit with filtration system. Obviously it was on a large scale but all the same water vapour is produced when creating compressed air as is the nature of the element "H2O" water has to go somewhere

@swiftysw1: I don't have personal experience of this actual managed wifi system but one which is very similar and that is Aerohive which is has a cloud based controller rather than a hardware one. We have found that once it was configured that it just works and all configuration can be saved and new AP's joined as and when required at minimum cost. Most cloud based systems now incorporate the "Bonjour App" as part of the infrastructure and this helps with the communications of Apple devices, it is quite helpful. There are a couple more cloud based systems now on the market but I wouldn't worry at all about the functionality of these systems they work as well if not better than your conventional hardware controller types, you pays your money and you makes your choice.
