  1. @loxford120 Do you have the activ inspire software from Promethean? What format is it in?
  2. @loxford120 Have you tried exporting the application from the RMMC and copying to the temp directory on the laptop and running from there to see if it installs? If it does then you have the answer to your problem in that its the package repository on your server that has the wrong permissions on or the path is wrong, Have you tried allocating the package to another laptop or workstation to also verify that it could be the laptop?
  3. Been with them for over 5 years, rock solid, no downtime 200mb up and down absolutely brilliant!
  4. We use KKS and have done for around 5 years, not had a single problem, their MIS integration tool is so simple to install and it just does the rest. Our attendance officer loves it. And its pricing is also very good.
  5. Your marking which you have taken onboard as an extra income to do at "Home" therefore doesn't involve the services of the IT support department as it is not school related, Thank you! Now go away!
  6. We don't do Laptops for any staff as they have to purchase their own and with them a support contract from where they bought it from. Waste of good IT staffs time running around after Staff who don't have the knowledge of how to operate a laptop properly without installing everything under the sun off the internet especially malware and virus's. End of
  7. We have a dedicated PE Technician who we have trained on the use of video editing software, together with a very fast i7 stand alone laptop (1TB SSD) plus wide angled video camera which has an WMV output file with USB3 2TB External storage drives he gathers the videos and edits them and eventually burns them to DVD for the students. The Students use the camera to take short videos but some use IPads and other devices but all in all the PE technician converts these to WMV format before editing and burning. Its been working well for the past 3 years and it means large files are not being loaded onto the network so not taking up huge amounts of bandwith and space also. Don't know how well this would work for you with A level students as we don't have a sixth form here.
  8. I have asked the question but it seems that some schools are in denial around the use of these ECDL exams and the way in which they are used to gain a favourable mark in the schools exam tables. I have been assured it is not the case with us. We have been using the tests for quite a while now after I managed after a few weeks of trial and error to get them fully functional and run without problems and now after all that it looks like a wasted effort hmm! Will wait and see what happens with a wry smile
  9. @FN-GM Had mine since they came out last July, extremely pleased with it especially after the latest upgrade to Android 6.0.1, its very responsive, does everything I require and more, its a large phone compared to some of the others but the screen display is excellent and the look and feel is of high quality. I find for the price coupled with a Sim only contract means I am saving £30 per month over the last contracted phone I had, great value for the money I would say go for it bud
  10. We don't ban them either but have network policies in place to stop the usual crud being ran, staff have encrypted USB's and use Safehouse encryption which we push out to all workstations (Its free). Haven't tried the Microbit yet as we are still waiting for ours.
  11. Hmm! spending enormous wads of cash on something you don't really get the time to use or play on doesn't sound like a good investment from my perspective! But as you have all your material things you need then I suppose one could say "Its your money! Go spend it!" What about your other half? Not want to spend it on them?
  12. @ICTDirect_Dave Give up the Gaming addiction and save yourself a pot of money!! Treat yourself to something real which will last predominantly longer than the next update!! Just my pennies worth bud
  13. @Joanne Don't know if this is up your street but here goes: Murder Mystery Stay from £79.50pp Lumley Castle | No Ordinary Hotel Doesn't have to be at this venue as there are many venues around the country but just an idea, excellent value for the money having been on one or two myself
  14. Also sometimes when cleaning out the old downloads from the install directory you can inadvertently remove base infrastructure update files that Solus3 requires which also happened to me when migrating to another server, all I did was download all the base infrastructure updates within Solus3 and that seemed to cure the problem.
  15. @TwistedHelixis I have created 2 templates one for Servers and one for Workstations, I may create more templates for different servers if required but up until now I haven't needed to
  16. Got a batch file which should do this for you: Just paste this into notepad and save as .bat extension with the all files drop down, RD /S /Q "Your folder Path" Use this as a script as part of the top level GPO shutdown script to delete off all computers, Tested today actually P.S. This will also delete the Parent directory of the named folder path So you would have RD /S /Q "C:\Program Files\DEECD" This will delete the said folder DEECD and all the contents.
  17. Yeah realise this from what other people are saying, did have a shoulder injury but having rested for a week from anything which would involve shoulder strain movements it seem to be nearly there now and I can actually train with it. I can feel the energy flowing through me plus I have an eating strategy for before and after training which seems to be working very well indeed, I have been testing some of the and following his FB page for inspiration, starting slowly and will build up over the next year all being well..........watch this space..............it just shows that being of a mature age makes no difference as long as your mindset is right!! #FrankMedrano Well done everyone else and keep the faith!!
  18. Down from 17st 12lbs to 15st 6lbs from New Year, no dieting just healthy eating and cutting crap out oh! and between 6 - 10 exercise classes per week........ Loving life! Loving me!
  19. Left school in 1976 my only computer was a slide rule and a book of logarithm tables at that time. First computer Commodore VIC-20 then moved to the Commodore’s Amiga 1000 The rest is history, a long history as I am moving towards the grand age of 60 and still learning. Found a good history site:http://www.computerhistory.org/timeline/computers/
  20. Many other smartphones especially Samsung and IPhones have met with similar fate @Dos_Box I still have mine although my daughter is using it in Cape Verde as I have moved on to the OP2, which has given me nearly a year of excellent service so far, I feel for the price it is still one of the best options around and I will be purchasing the next phone that this company releases. I do feel that Apple having lost 17% of sales in the first quarter of this year are at a standstill and are reverting back to the smaller model to try and drum up sales and Samsung have found a good phone in their recent release but at what cost?
  21. Installed last week when the staff were off, no problems to date smooth and quick installation on both server and clients, also updated FMS and discover too as this was a perfect opportunity, no problems to report.
  22. I had this piece of information sent to me yesterday: According to recent reports, massive volumes of JavaScript attachments are being spammed out that contain dangerous ransomware. We recommend taking the following additional precautions to protect your install base: • Make sure your mail protection solution is blocking macro-enabled documents and .js scripts • Ensure that you have blocked user access to downloading Tor by blacklisting the following URL:https://www.torproject.org/download/download-easy.html(the Locky virus in particular relies on downloading and installing the Tor browser and some versions may use Tor to contact the command and control servers) • Disable Java in client browsers (for more information, see the following links) • And we suggest that access to the following IPs be completely blocked at the firewall: ◦ 5.34.183.195 ◦ 51.254.19.227 ◦ 185.14.29.188 ◦ 31.184.197.119 ◦ 91.219.29.55 Also a link: https://nakedsecurity.sophos.com/2016/02/17/locky-ransomware-what-you-need-to-know/ It seems the variants are getting very clever and we look like we are fighting a desperate battle! Just asking staff to be ultra vigilant when viewing e-mails etc is like plaiting fog!
  23. Our LA has it and will release when they are happy with it, I will wait the arbitrary 3 recalls before applying hehe!
  24. Both F1 and MotoGP..................an absolute must!! If I had to choose it would have to be MotoGP....those guys really earn their salt!! Not that F1 isn't dangerous in its own way just MotoGP is where its at for thrills and spills! Will be recording practise to watch at a decent time when I can absorb more easily
