OnePlus 3 here also, had all of the OnePlus series and they all still in fine working order now. Waiting for the release of the OnePlus 4 first quarter I believe at around £450.00 it will be the last one for me and I will move to Huaweii or Xiaomi as these are remarkable phones for the price. OnePlus have gone for high spec and good build quality at a marginally lower price than the big boys like Samsung and Apple and they will always do well but only if they keep the quality build and the price lower than £500.

No amount of cleaning will suffice, I'm afraid after 8 years these projectors require new parts which will cost as much as a new replacement, we went down the route of Casio which are now well down in price from what I've seen, The school are going to have to come up with a cost solution based on their requirements as you have done as much as you possibly can to resolve the issue.

@TheICTTechnician When you say that Solus3 has verified it has installed Sims have you looked in the program files of C: on that client to see if the Sims folder is there and all the files are present? It could be that other users are not getting the shortcut you have pushed out through your program sets!

I remember when I did my MCSE a good few years ago Microsoft stated that unless you had more than 1500 devices on your network then you should have no problems with traffic and bandwith and therefore Vlans were not required, I do feel that this may be a thing of the past but surely with Fibre, the clever switches we have today and the Nics this should still be the case should it not? I monitor the bandwith usage on our flat network with 400 plus computers, 100 plus Laptops and Tablets, 50 Printers, Reprographic MFDs, Digital IP phones, CCTV and Wireless running across the 1GB backbone and to be honest we are only utilising a quarter of this at peak times, we do use Cisco switches but our infrastructure is 15 years old, login times for a new profile is 25 - 35 secs and for local cached profile around 5 - 8 secs, I do think that Vlans are sometimes over used for small networks and yes I would definitely use them if I had over 1500 devices but until that time I feel everything is sorted here and has been for quite sometime. Just saying like! Vlans are not for everyone or every network as Security features in Windows and other OS's have alleviated the need for them from a security point. If you're having speed issues then I would look into your infrastructure for bottlenecks, Vlans just separate your traffic but still utilise the same bandwith except when using QOS on switches but this then limits the bandwith for each different protocol which in effect slows that particular protocol down or limits its bandwith so making the applications that use that protocol slower. Its only my opinion and probably old hat but then what do I know hehe! Happy day's

We had one of our teachers inadvertently click a link in one of her e-mails which caused 250,000 files to become encrypted with the latest variant .zepto, good backups are a must but also prevention and education of Staff on how to read e-mails properly without being at risk also. It took 13 hours worth of work through the night both myself and one of my technicians to have everything back to normal and we have been clean for 5 weeks since! Strategy has been to tighten up the e-mail spam and antivirus engines on our ageing e-mail system which still works very well considering, also banned extensions list growing all the time as we tighten up even more. Working with least access rights only for all Staff including Technical using run as on delegated accounts with least rights. Looking at edge management systems which will further tighten up our systems. Educating end users is a must at all levels, Happy trails Cowboys and Cowgirls!!! Yippee Ki-Yaa!!

We are currently in the same boat, 8 year old workstations, 15 year old infrastructure etc etc! Do not know where they are going to get the money from, I did explain this to them years ago that they had to put money aside for refurbishment of kit every 5 years including Servers, if it wasn't for a good friend of mine on here we wouldn't have our Hyper-V Host servers and without them we wouldn't have a network. Thank you that person, you know who you are and we are very grateful.

@mikkydoos We went with BT and I found it very good and the service has been excellent.........so good in fact!!! Why not try them through BT Business in your local area, you may well be surprised

@davethetekkie We just trying to manage until the summer when we can replace these units with refurbished ones, they are 8 years old after all and they still provide a very good service for their part, they are all dual cores with 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD's and they do run pretty well its just the PSU's that we find hard to get hold of and there is no substitutes that we can find as the later model is too fat for the case.

Hi All, Looking for this type of PSU (AOpen FSP200-60SAV (PF) computer desktop Power Supply 200W PSU J47) as these are the only units which will fit our cases (8 Year old), refurbished ones will do if the price is right or new ones would be even better if the price is right, last price I paid for 80 refurbished units was £175.00 off eBay but they are literally like rocking horse do do's!! @3s-gtech I really don't know where you have got your information from but for the past 20 years I have had 3 diesel Passat's and they all worked perfectly fine for me, never had any MOT failures and the current one I have now is 12 years old and still sails through its MOT and has not cost me anything apart from the usual servicing and replacement tyres and filters etc. Great cars but unfortunately like everything else they then decided to make them cheaper by investing in another country like Peru to make them and thus the later models are indeed prone to serious engine malfunctions as the quality control has been decidedly dropped a notch since the German manufacturing days. If I was to purchase one today I would go for the pre-2006 models. That's all I have to say on that from experience

@Stuart-Hannah Don't do it! Unless you expect proper answers and not just a moan about how bad the IT is, no matter how good you think it is Staff are never satisfied, this will open up a can of worms and could undermine your take on the IT systems. I used to measure our Staff based upon survey's just like this and found them really wanting as they all thought they were based on a score of 0-10 at least an 8 across the board. Now you know and I know that when you go into details about what they actually know about IT it suddenly drops to around a 3-5 mark which is quite progressive in real terms. If you feel your end users (Staff) are really good i.e. Can code and create SQL statements and embed Macros in excel spreadsheets etc etc then they will be approaching a 5 maybe a 6 in real terms. As @hardtailstar has suggested, keep it to what you have in the school and keep it short. Good Luck
