Our monster Eaton is the 9PX 11000, which is modular. The bottom bits are batteries, the top bit is the controller and the second to top bit is the super charger. This doesn't make it go faster, but recharges the batteries quicker than normal. Weighs 450 kgs. We don't know how long it will keep things running for, but there are 7 Poweredge servers, an Equalogic, core switch and two Macs connected to it. We power off non-crtitcal servers after an hour and the critical ones after three. We have yet to experience a power outage to see how much juice is left when the last thing powers off. I can't remember the exact cost but I think it was around £22k.

Where I work, we handle all of the projectors and speakers in the classrooms, but the A/V techie does the speakers and sound in the mail hall and in the drama studios. He also sets up sound for when we do outside events. These amps have far too many knobs for us IT types. There is one amp with loads of knobs (a Phonic 740) that we look after, which is in the lecture theatre. Basically you leave it alone and if someone has unplugged anything, you check the picture on the wiki and make sure it's connected up to match.

We have a suite of Macs which print to a Sharp MX-2600N, which is controlled by one of the Macs. One Mac refuses to print to A3. Format a document with page size A3, send it to the printer, and it selects an A4 sheet and only prints the right hand side of the document. Put that document on any other Mac in the suite, and it prints correctly. Firstly, we tried deleting the printer and re-adding it. Still refuses A3. Next we delete the printer and the printer driver from the offending Mac, and it will still only print to A4. Finally we reinstall the OS, install the printer driver (which isn't on the master image for some reason) and add the printer. Exactly the same thing. It refuses to print to A3. Obviously we as missing something here and the fault must lie with the Mac which controls the printer. Any ideas as where to look?
