  1. Not to derail or anything We are struggling to get pdfs to default to adobe. We have a standard policy to do it but..it doesn't. Can anyone advise how we can get this sorted? If users choose "open with" Adobe all is well but they forget and then the whole printer queue gets jammed
  2. Loved it! But I do agree - blimey those Cyberman are bad shots!
  3. My mum was from a Welsh family - Newtown in Powys, but they had moved to Shrewsbury by the time she was born. Dad was English but moved to Port Talbot when he was 8 and was more Welsh than the Welsh. Dad had little family and mum had 4 sisters so we were brought up in a very Welsh environment
  4. Diolch yn fawr Happy St David's day to everyone. A lovely sunny start to the day here on the South Coast
  5. Trained to be a Radio Officer/Electronics Test Engineer - no jobs at sea on qualifying, so became a test engineer on flight simulators and then rangefinders. Went to the West Indies for a few months - on return went to a local recruitment consultancy and they offered me a job as a consultant in their new office in Milton Keynes. Loved it and worked my way up to manager. Then had a baby and mrwITch got a job on the South Coast so off we went. Two more babies later - started to get into computing. mrwITch taught me a great deal and somehow I got a job as a tech in a local school. Trial by fire - didnt know what I was doing. that was 19 years ago...
  6. I did think about submitting a pic of my son, who is the same age and has red hair and a beard - just to see if you'd notice
  7. I know Tesco isn't exactly in financial trouble but they are cutting jobs: https://www.itv.com/news/2020-02-25/tesco-to-cut-1-800-jobs-in-bakeries-overhaul/ As for Norton - v sad. I learned to ride on a Norton Commando
  8. Let's see. Bit of a lie-in - upstairs cleaning, dog walk, charity shop shopping (for my new grandson to be) and lunch with a friend, 40 min upper body weights exercise class, Music practise and slumping in front of the TV. Worrying in the background about our new image which the MAT are rolling out today and tomorrow - I might just pop in to work ... Other than that - Hosting a lunch on Wednesday, Seeing my sister Thurs and possibly Friday. Exercise classes every day. So nothing special - just the usual stuff but without the work hours first
  9. Birds of Prey It was OK - the middle bit was really boring and very violent. Was grateful that I didnt pay for the tickets - - - Updated - - - I said - in the 1950's - so no - not Robert Pattinson But I think it is a different film anyway
  10. I think I have a recording of my dad acting in that (it was a play first) from back in the 50s Doesnt one go mad?
  11. That's quite enough bickering children
  12. Same.....
  13. PC at work Lenovo at home Both nice deals from ICT Direct
  14. According to our old music teacher - there isnt an alternative - hence why we spent loads on a new Mac for him
  15. Can you see if there is something employees signed when they started? This might mention other people's access to their files which would give you your answer
  16. In the US - or at least in the places I have been - they are very hot on stopping at stop signs. I also watch US thrifters, trash pickers and dumpster divers and the same issue comes up - they do stop.
  17. Server sits in the IT suite. No protection, no nothing. It got moved there during a very hot summer as the IT suite has the only aircon in the school. My office is about 1.8m wide and about the same long. It has worktop which has just about enough room for my pc and one broken one. currently the media storage and the on-site portion of the backup are on my worktop as well All my kit is in an open cupboard in the IT suite other than my own tools which are kept in my office TBF we haven't had any issues
  18. Sounds exactly like The Librarians to me
  19. Absolutely
  20. I've just tried it here at home - logged on as my non-admin user and got mrwITch to log on as a child. He had to download the app - I didnt (not sure if I had done it before or how to tell) For ages it just kept tellng me he was unavailable and then suddenly it worked - not sure why. I will have a go at school - can you tell me where the conferencing settings are in case I need to change them
  21. @3s-gtech would you mind telling me how this works? We have Teams but I have never used it and having had a look, I cant see how it works.
  22. That would mean setting all the teachers laptops, and supply laptops, to static IP as you never know who is teaching a child or what classroom they might be in. Interested to hear about TightVNC - i've used it in a previous school but it was a bit flaky then I would have thought quite a lot of schools would need something like this?
  23. We are looking to get something that will show what is on the teachers laptop (connected to a screen) on a students iPad or laptop I thought Airserver was it but now I am being told that is for the other way around - showing what is on the iPad on the big screen which is the wrong way. But some are saying it will work the way I want. I am very confused now
