  1. We have been given "Alcohol Hand Gel" That's all it says - no percentages, no info as to whether it kills viruses or anything
  2. @akidosaint Hello and welcome back you didnt have to leave - we aren't all in education anymore! Good to see you though
  3. So maybe a blackcapp then We have loads of buzzards on the local heaths, but i have never seen one over my garden
  4. I can't tell over the loud noise the blackbirds and robins are producing. That's about all we have, although my bird app did seem to think I had a European Black Cap and a Buzzard the other day! I will check it out
  5. Ditto We even have a staff protocol thingy that we have to sign. But as the document you are agreeing to doesnt mention me - how to contact me, how to behave around me when I come into your room to turn on the whiteboard etc - not quite sure if I should sign or not
  6. Has anybody got this? The company tell me that it will run from the server - there are two parts, years 3/4 and 4/5 It requires Adobe Air to run and this is on the server and all laptops 3/4 works fine but 5/6 calls for Adobe Air Anyone any ideas why this might be?
  7. Need some advice Our school is opening Jun1 and I received a long email detailing how this will work - the children will be in class bubbles of 12 to 15, 2M apart, where they dont mix with any other people over the course of a school day. Apparently the HT spoke to teachers, support staff, office staff, the site manager and the cleaners. Hand sanitizer outside all office/classroom doors, etc etc Guess who wasnt spoken to? I am not that worried generally about schools as I have been reading up on the risks, BUT for me it is slightly different as I am designated "Clinically vulnerable" due to my asthma (not bad enough to warrant shielding but still a concern) Most of my job in school is firefighting - going into many classrooms over the course of my day, sorting out laptops and whiteboards etc. For a start that rather ruins their bubbles, doesnt it? Also I am concerned about staying 2M away from everybody as my particular health risk requires me to do What are others expecting their jobs will look like when the schools go back?
  8. So let me get this clear. My husband has to work and be in contact with loads of people but I’m not allowed to hug my sister and I can sunbathe in the park with multiple strangers if I stay 2 metres away from them but can’t sunbathe with 2 of my friends, even 2 metres apart. Got it. I know they are relying on common sense - eg I SHALL let a friend come into my garden (open back gate, brings her own drink) to socialise with me at 2m distance of course. But honestly - as someone said: I know, I will get my sons (who live away from me) to be cleaners or somesuch and then they can come into my house. Did anyone see the marketing guy explaining how the new slogans are very deliberately chosen - and are in place so that the blame is shifted on us. https://www.facebook.com/scientistsforeu/videos/2664289803816535/?t=5
  9. Maybe because I have the free edu version, but I dont have the tickbox mentioned under groups
  10. Hi all Is there any way to change the email inbox so that all emails from various groups appear in the normal inbox and not under the group name? I have been unable to find anything that can do this - anyone got any thoughts?
  11. I am sure the groups making the completed visors are finding new markets as it were. mrwITch is only making the headbands
  12. mrwITch has been making the headbands on his 3D printer. And a local group has asked for people to assemble them. All the local schools with 3D printers are helping and many of the Textile people have been making scrubs too I did volunteer both locally and nationally but there are so many of us that we are not really likely to be called upon
  13. Have run out of dead tree books other than some "worthy" ones I havent got to. So I am re-reading the Discworld novels atm I can read on my tablet on holiday but really do prefer the real thing
  14. Local golf course is open for walking. Saw some deer and a heron, which was cool
  15. That's what I thought. The whole thing is a bit woolly with no real facts as to when those measures were actually implemented
  16. I didnt see it but I have been hearing a lot of low squealing and grunting in the garden in the middle of the night. Our garden is completely fenced due to our escapologist dog, all but one bit where we had wired in a bit of pipe so that any hedgehog could get in. I went to have a look around the garden today and saw that the pipe had been ripped out (and it was firmly wired in) and the hole enlarged. I think we had a visit from a badger - very exciting
  17. Yes, we got our notification of this yesterday! Very welcome, particularly as I had been listening to an article on Radio 4 about car and van insurance being put UP during this coronavirus emergency Has anyone else noticed that there are many more cars on the road this week? It is a lot busier here. I am wondering if people are beginning to have had enough
  18. I watched all the crossovers except the Batwoman one and I managed to work it all out. Was all a bit pointless really. Brooklyn 99 is back though - yay!!
  19. I had a look at Joe Wicks - I couldnt believe what I was seeing. Completely disorganised and his form doing push ups and planks was a sight to see (his bottom was so hign it was almost in a pike position). He also did NO back exercises to balance the core work Not sure what everyone sees in him. FitnessBlender (other sites are available) are so much better - you can choose what you want to do, your difficulty level, length of workout, the lot. I am still doing a class a day - yesterday was a quick blast of HIIT and then a lower body weights killer I am doing much longer walks with the dog too - up to 2 hours most days and I think that is helping
  20. Frozen II Not as good as the first one - storyline was confused and there were too many forgettable songs
  21. It's fine - and very interesting to see how different perceptions can be. I will go with what @localzuk said although I have never heard of a horn described as woodwind. All I know is - I play the French Horn. That is what I do. That is what I am. I have never been referred to as brass, nor would I want to be. Yes, my horn, Henry, is made of brass. Yes my horn produces sound the same way as other brass instruments. I play a left-handed, predominantly rotary valved instrument whereas the brass are right handed, piston valved instruments, (barring the slide trombone) . If you can play one brass instrument, I believe you can play them all? Not the case with the French Horn. So - similar but different. I must go now, I need to practise Beethoven 1 as I have a concert with the Berlin Phil tomorrow
  22. Right about what? A horn and trumpet mouthpiece are very different - not sure what you mean? Yes, they produce music in a similar way - dont deny that, . But in my case, umptymillion years of orchestral playing and being called Horns and not Brass means that AFAIC I am not brass So there
  23. Do not diss the witchhugs They are awesome
  24. Never had a problem mixing with Brass players outside the orchestra - they are so childlike and cute Inside? They may be on the same row but THERE IS A GAP between us and them A horn is believed to be one of the hardest instruments to play, Don't think you can say that of the brass instruments Yes, a Horn is MADE of brass - doesnt make it a brass instrument though. Any more than being made of brass makes a sax a brass instrument
  25. No I will be hugging everybody EVERYBODY I TELL YOU!!!!
