7982s are still supported on the latest ZD FW 10.2, they're a pretty great AP and can handle a big load, so you wont have any issues with running through an eased transition with newer APs. The 1200 seems like it will be sticking around for some time, they have just increased its max AP count to 150 and with the ZD3ks going EOL, the 1200 will be their only ZD appliance left.

If you need any help with the Ruckus ICX switches, please let me know. We have installed them at quite a few sites now with no issues. Their 7150/7250 range is well priced and aimed at the EDU market. They also have licenses to upgrade certain ports at a later date to allow for 10gig etc should you ever want/need to go in that direction.

As we mentioned in our original BETT post we're brining solutions to BETT than ever before that help schools and colleges protect their staff and students in lockdown scenarios. At BETT 2019 we will be launching one of our latest partnerships, the Nexus wireless alert system. The new NEXUS Wireless Alert system is aimed at schools and colleges as a lockdown system in the event of an incident requiring rapid restrictions to a site. It is quick and easy to install with no civil works or cabling required and is fully portable. The solution at a glance: • Battery powered • Rapidly deployable and reusable • Wireless with up to 64 units on one site • Long range transmission of 1km between units • Visual beacon and audible sounder/enunciator • Works on advanced wireless mesh protocol negating the need for repeaters • IP Masthead receiver available for remote monitoring • 3 year battery life with low battery alerts NEXUS uses a secure wireless mesh protocol to provide a long-range, robust system, designed to alert occupants to a threat on or near their site requiring a lockdown procedure to be implemented. There is a maximum of 64 units per site, and when one NEXUS unit is activated, it will trigger all units in range to sound an audible lockdown message, accompanied by a flashing beacon light. In all instances of activation, both the sounders and flashing beacons will continue until reset, however, the initial triggered unit will continue to flash until the call point button is manually reset. Hi @Bev, we're not located in the North East but do work UK wide. We could help with all your infrastructure needs though. If you would like to know any information in advance, please let me know.

If it could be of interest, we can perform a free predictive wireless survey of your site - if you have site plans available and can provide some additional information. We can also send some equipment out for you test in your environment. We are a Ruckus integrator though, so will be more expensive than Ubiq. If we can help though, please let me know.

If you require any assistance with Ruckus, please let us know. We can complete free of charge predictive surveys and will review your requirements in order to put the best solution forward. I'd also suggest testing both bits of kit to see which you prefer. If you have time set them up in real-life scenarios with users running HD content so you can see for yourself the performance, but also the GUI etc. Both solutions will work in your environment, it's also about choosing the right integrator to advise correctly, and install/configure as required.

Sorry to hear you had problems with getting the relevant info out of your reseller/Ruckus. I hope the WiNG solution does what you need of it, I don't think it's one that we have come against yet. Hello all, We have just been advised that until the 19th December Ruckus are running some new EDU focused promotions providing an additional discount on any purchase to schools and colleges. Whether this is a few APs to compliment an existing system or an entirely new one. Please let me know and we will provide a quotation. The main requirement is that the equipment must ship to you by the 19th December. Out of interest why the move to Extreme? All that Ruckus kit is still good and supporting latest firmware versions etc.

As far as i'm aware there is no additional licensing with the Mobotix Move PTZ cameras. They were developed by another company, but don't think there are any additional licenses involved with getting up and running. I know not relevant for you, but perhaps others. We see the PTZ as a camera to complement an existing Mobotix install to allow for investigatory work. We had a play with one of the cameras in the office the other week and the zoom is pretty incredible.

Hello, Palo Alto Networks has launched some new pricing for EDU on their TRAPS endpoint solution. It looks like some pretty great discounts are available at the moment. We have quite a few clients using it that are really happy with it, and our engineers love it.
