Unsure if this is better or worse...

I know, I know, I wish Flash would just die too, but it won't... I've got a specific room in which Lightbot will not work reliably. It starts, and appears to load, but the credits appear on the RHS of the screen and then nothing happens if you click on it. I've tried 3 online versions, a standalone player running a link to an online version and also running a download of the SWF file. I've even created a standalone .exe projector of it and it behaves the same. I don't get it. Nothing is being blocked online, it's not the hardware because I have identical hardware elsewhere and it works fine, there are no additional group policies and I've even tried removing some machines from the specific OU and trying again and it still doesn't work reliably. I've tried wiping all profiles from the machines and it doesn't work reliably - I can log in as a domain admin and it won't run, then I can log in as a student and it will run. I can then log in as a different student and it won't run, all on the same machine. I suspect it to be related to windows 10 as my last remaining windows 7 laptop suite runs it reliably without issue, but I can't identify what the problem is because it won't even run in an exe projector. It's doing my swede in now and I've got a grumpy ICT teacher.

To sidestep the issue altogether, could you get an RDS server up?

We've been successfully using DA for about 5 years, but it's been a very limited number of clients - 4 to be precise. I've rolled it out to a larger group, about 30 total clients now and I've been having reports of it being unusably slow at peak times - which appears to be about 8pm. I've checked in with server via RDS and seen a peak of about 8 clients connected in at the same time. Everything looks normal, there is a sustained network throughput of about 4mbps, it's using about 4GB of its available 16gb ram, disk and CPU activity are negligible. Links between switches are sitting around 2-5% utilised. The Internet connection seems to sit around 12-20/100mbps up and about 5-10/100mbps down so nothing looks stressed. Anyone got a clue?

Generally I just accept that 99% is near enough... I have a very similar scenario. I suppose you could decline anything you don't apply which might mean that your live machines show as 100% for a few hours/days untill the next sync brings new updates?

I'm not suprised. They got too big, too fast, at the wrong time and failed to adapt (mainly their pricing) to predominantly online competitors. It'll be a shame if the go because it's handy being able to pop out on a sunday at 2pm for a pack of resistors and some solder, but I'll cope.

Yeah - What you can hear is the switch mode PSU dumping to ground, the same as you can quite often with laptops plugged into the mains and a large PA system. That's not the right PSU for the job. What you need is a big old linear power supply with a fat transformer and some big capacitors. You can prove the point by running it off another 12v source like a car battery, or a dumb 12v charger. What you're doing is a bit fudgey in the first place.

As far as I'm aware it is no different to showing BBC news 24 on a TV. Just a TV licence for the site should suffice.

I decided, I discussed it with our HR and with the MAT IT. Everyone agreed and the MAT are discussing adopting it trust-wide. It may or may not happen trust wide - but they're happy for us to run the policy.

We've just written it into the staff handbook, in an ideal world we would never have to use USB, and they should never be removing personally identifiable information from site. but we've stated that taking a non encrypted device - USB or laptop - off site is an immediate disciplinary offence. All *issued* devices are bitlockered, whether they leave site or not, and assigned in asset management.

I've been riding since 1997 - pretty much every day until 2010. I've had a bit of a break from the everyday riding since I got married, as I take my wife to work a lot now and I have to carry a lot of crap for work, but I still ride a few days a month. I've had my fair share of offs. Ran into the back of a car within a couple of months of passing my test - came round a corner and it was stationary in the middle of the road and I had nowhere to go - the only accident that was entirely my fault. Came off on a diesel spill on a country lane and went ass first through a hedge at 50. I didn't think I'd done anything, but adrenaline is a wonderful thing and I later discovered 2 broken ribs. Someone pulled out right in front of me on a roundabout and I anchored up, dropped the bike and slid into the side of her car - again, adrenaline, didn't realise till later that I broke 3 fingers on that one. Someone ran into the back of me at a junction and shunted me forward into the back of another car and I broke my nose because I had my visor open and I headbutted the top edge of the windscreen - we had the police to that as the bloody nosed angry biker in the middle of the car sandwich wasn't going to pipe down. Both car drivers decided to try and *somehow* concoct something about me cutting in the line to make it my fault. Ended up with 0 liability on my part. I someone pulled out right into the side of me from a minor road and I ripped the front of their car with my left boot. I was going to just let them get away with paying for my bike repairs and gear through their insurance but then they changed their story and tried to blame me for speeding, overtaking another vehicle and 'appearing out of nowhere' . I wasn't having any of that so I got the police involved as the junction is notorious and has a camera on it. The police evidence shut them up and I ended up getting a full pay out for my bike, a full payout for my gear, loss of earnings and a personal injury claim. It took 2 years of wrangling for that one to go through - I still have a lumpy calf muscle from that. Just get back on it... Always, just get back on it.
