I don't have vast quantities to process, about 5, but I have had no problems with doing it via GPP and item level targetting. It saves the overhead of processing a ton of seperate GPOs.

Ummm... I'm doing it with a GPO and delete printer connections at machine level... I'd be making them myself at that length...

If you're going to @ICTDirect_Dave you need to be buying off this page... http://www.ict-direct.co.uk/computers/high-spec-refurbished-workstations.html - - - Updated - - - If you're going to @ICTDirect_Dave you need to be buying off this page... http://www.ict-direct.co.uk/computers/high-spec-refurbished-workstations.html

The only way I know of to achieve that is to prestage the machine accounts in AD. I've found this to be more laborious than just requiring admin approval, but your experience may be different. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc770832(v=ws.10).aspx

Then it sounds more and more like there is a dead spot on the black drum.

Does it happen on all colours?

Remove / Hide "Network" from Explorer window

Still working in windows 10. -
Probably one of the drums or the fuser has a dead spot. If you're even slightly local to Dorset I've got 3 of them you can raid for parts if you like!

In the WDS properties of the server, what do you have set on the Advanced and ADDS tabs?
-
That's the puppy. If you tick that, anything that isn't in the known clients table (which you can empty before you start so no machines are known https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/ce4ff156-863e-4734-a13f-86f8f9a00c9f/how-to-delete-existing-wds-deployied-computers-in-ad?forum=winserversetup) the deployment will wait for you to name and approve in the WDS console before continuing to build.

Schools Cash Office is a cloud based service with a local application GUI installed on all the machines which deal with finance. The parents portal (scopay) is a separate entity. We customize it to look a bit like our website and link to it from the VLE and from the external website.

Sahara customer support are usually pretty helpful, give them a shout. Projection Screens | Sahara Presentation Systems PLC

As a temporary fix, could you set WDS to require administrator approval thus allowing a name and approve?
-
All of the above is dealt with by the school office, and a package called Schools Cash Office from Tucasi which also includes integration to our MIS and an online payment portal for parents via a WorldPay Merchant account.

Staff Well-being - Out of Hours email usage
Oaktech replied to Arcolite's topic in Enterprise Software
We are moving away from providing staff laptops, and partly due to this we provide systems which enable staff to work whenever they see fit. RDS is available 24/7 (except for a 3am Friday morning maintenance window) Email is Office365 and most staff have it on their phones. I provide documentation for setting it up on phones which includes scheduling quiet times on android. Cloud printing is available to our Uniflow installation and the staff timeout is 72 hours so a document printed on Friday night is still available on Monday morning. I try and make myself as responsive as possible to any issues with remote log ons. The idea is for the staff to regulate their own working patterns. It is written into our AUP that whilst staff may choose to send emails at whatever time they like they must not expect a reply or even for the email to be read outside of their directed or contracted times. Teachers directed times are 7:30am until 4:00pm and most other contracted times are 8:00am - 3:30pm (TAs) or 4:00pm (office staff). I'm a bit different, because I'm the only person who works a set number of hours a week which means if I spend 10 minutes resetting a log in on a Sunday afternoon I reduce my time the following week to account for it. To go to the original question, I've just used the message tracking logs to see who sends what outside office hours, and then if you did want to set rules I believe you could do it with transport rules and PS although it may be awkward whilst still in hybrid. https://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/exchange/en-US/4c8bfedb-952e-4580-a40e-6d371dd6013f/outlookexchange2007-mailbox-rule-run-during-time-frame -
School letters, print logo or use preprinted letterhead?
Oaktech replied to Zourous's topic in General Chat
We have pre-printed compliments slips because they're on a funny canvas-esque paper and a local printer does small batches for us on demand. Everything else is done from a word template. The frequency of change negates any other advantage. -
I've got about 100 refurb machines - mainly from @ICTDirect_Dave, the few I haven't got from him have been internal refurbs acquired from local large businesses. The service I get from Dave basically blows everyone in the field out of the water, and a 2 year + warranty is a godsend when it comes to convincing skeptical heads that refurbs can run the course. So far I've had one HDD go in an M58p while it was under warranty and one laptop mobo expire just out of warranty, but even then Dave is supplying me a replacement at a pretty good price!

If the size isn't an issue I'd go for the latest OnePlus or Sony Xperia XZ.

Exchange 2013 Error creating new Database
Oaktech replied to dapaulio's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
I just googled the error and yeah, loads of hits about replication... So do the repadmin /showrepl first, it might be a permission. I assume the schema has been upgraded, firstly for exchange 2013... https://technet.microsoft.com/EN-US/library/bb125224(v=exchg.150).aspx and secondly for 2016 DC? https://samilamppu.wordpress.com/2016/11/06/upgrading-ad-ds-schema-to-windows-server-2016/ -
Office 365 Web Portal - Sign in behaviour has changed?
Oaktech replied to ollyyllo's topic in Cloud Services
Pretty sure that's cache... I don't get it on my normal user, but my admin user where the session has a time out, I get it a lot. -
We're going down this route for staff - Desktops are better value for money to purchase - especially refurbed, they have a lower TCO, a lower support overhead nad a much longer useful life. We have a small RDP cluster for remote access and we freely distribute the RDP connection file for staff to use at home. I'll even go so far as to allow staff to bring in their home machines for me to set it up for them if they are really struggling. Some of the staff aren't well keen, mainly the one's who don't have laptops at home, but we've pointed out that RDP is available for virtually anything these days. It makes sense from a monetary perspective and it helps with dataprotection because no-one needs to cart sticks around - even encrypted ones, and the likelihood of losing a laptop to theft significantly reduces so the head is behind me on it.
