What would be the chances of a full time job after the 12 months contract? I’m really REALLY interested but the only thing I’m worried about is not having a job after the contract is finished.. As i live in Plymouth i like security when it comes to jobs Please reply or PM me asap -
yes :-( Only into i can get my old network manager so send me the batch file he created He seems to be very busy at the moment
-
ohh fair play its works for us.. we haven't come across any problems just yet... FINGERS CROSSED.. Ive never used supermandatory profiles just mandatory profiles so im not sure if it will work... but then on the guest accounts everything is set up though group policy Into i get the batch file i just go around to the computers during half term and delete the local profiles created.. (on the computers we are testing this on)
-
Yes But only for guest accounts in active directory (due to ONLY TESTING FOR NOW).. and GPOs changed so no one can get on the Local profiles Make a few test accounts before changing everything then give it a try first... please let me know how you get on..I may have found a "half decent fix" My old network manger had a batch file that will delete the local accounts when the users log off... and only have the one user there.. (appart from with "all users, Default user, administrator, administrator.%DOMAIN NAME%" Give it a shot and let me know as its worked for me and make it much faster

Replacing Classroom desktops with Teacher laptops
SW-ICT replied to Chockster's topic in How do you do....it?
Hi, The only advice I can give its DONT RUSH IT It sounds silly me saying this, but we have teacher laptops, and no desktops for the teachers to use in their classrooms The teacher take home the laptops play around install stuff there self play on facebook and completely brake them.. its maybe worth keeping the desktops there as this is what I have experienced If you do go ahead with it keep the hard drives!!! Just in case the teacher turns around and says “but I had it in my C drive” Make sure (if its xp) you install SP3 BEFORE IE8 or 9 (If you ever uninstall you IE to an earlier one you will not be able to use the search engine) And install as much as you can... (again sounds silly) you don’t want the teacher coming to you after 3 weeks and saying that they have this list of things that need to be on there. I have only been a Technician for about 3 years all in all... and I know that teacher laptops are the future, all im trying to say is don’t rush it -
In my current position I am assisting the network manager at Liskeard School and community college in maintenance and delivery of ICT within the teaching and learning environment. This includes all pc’s, laptops, tablet pc’s, interactive whiteboards, Data projectors etc. I am very familiar with Ranger; in my current job I most often use it to monitor pupil activity and roll out programs using the package builder. I use it remotely to shut down machines or start applications. Another part of this job is being aware of the security issues in dealing with networked computers. For example, working in a school means you have to be extremely vigilant in noticing irregularities with computers that you may not be currently on at that time. As I am a Grade E (Experienced) IT Technician I often console in to the main server check for error in the event log I am used to being on call and working under extreme pressure, in response to teacher and pupil IT emergencies. I have to prioritise and manage competing requests on a regular basis, with patience and understanding. I have a lot of experience of working in schools as I have worked in Coombe Dean School in Plymouth which is where I gained my qualifications and had the same role as what I now have at Liskeard School and community college. In my previous job I had been involved with the sound and lighting equipment at my current job. On one occasion I have ran a ‘stars in their eyes’ production to pupils and their family members, an inter-key-stage competition that Coombe Dean holds twice a year. it I am looking to move away from Plymouth and start a new life in the South west of England. (Bristol is preferred) I am very sociable and very enthusiastic about making a change in my life to father my career in ICT. Please could anyone let me know if there are any jobs ICT technician jobs going in Bristol. Im a really hard worker and I really want to move away If any network managers, IT mangers, System managers would like to see my C.V please e-mail me on lewis _ bulley @ hotmail . co . uk (without the spaces) Thanks you

How far do you travel to work, how long does it take?
SW-ICT replied to jonny_2010's topic in Educational IT Jobs
Hello. I work in liskeard in cornwall, and i live in plymouth.. Its only 18 miles away but it takes me 40 mins - 60 mins Thats because most of the way there its 50mph Hope this helps you -
Hello everyone, I work for a school in Cornwall and we would like to set up a video conference to france. Whenever i try and dial the number they gave us it comes up with this error; "Network resources unavailable" I’m going though SWGFL gateway keeper (so I believe anyway, my network manger said it was set up fine before) Has anyone had the same problem? Or even better does anyone know what the problem is? I’ve got a horrible feeling that it’s something our end and I’ve never used it before... I’ve just been chucked in the deep end with it Please help me Regards Lewis
