About achesterman

  1. I was worried that was going to come up, we are part of a trust of schools, before I can upgrade our SIMS installation, the upgrade is checked by people at our head office..
  2. No I disabled UAC a long time ago, causes too many problems!!
  3. I have gave myself full access to everything on my C:\ drive and still no change :'(
  4. Unfortunatly this doesnt resolve the issue either
  5. It does yes, below is a copy of the file [sIMSConnection] ServerName=uk-rhs-mis1\Sims2008 DatabaseName=simsrhsb CommandTimeout=5000000
  6. We are running version 7.138 with .net 4.0, I have given myself full access over every SIMS folder and it still doesnt work, I am now getting to the hair pulling stage!
  7. WE have jsut migrated all our desktops to windows 7 and SIMS worked perfectly for 2 weeks, then the other week I open sims and it crashes. What happens is I can open the login screen and when i enter my username and password and press login the splashscreen loads and then it freezes and crashes. In a normal installtion of SIMS the box for your username and password are closed, the machines with problems however keep both windows open, I have checked the event logs and nothing is logged. I managed to fix this for a while by installing .net 1.1, the problem however has now returned and all of our teachers are back tomorrow... Any help would be most welcomed! Thakns
  8. I did however I cant rember how I fixed it! Have you tried uninstalling the service and reinstalling it? Also it is worth checking that the drivers for your network card exist in your installation image!
  9. The GPO's have been configured for the past week, as I allowed for replication time.. When I do a gpupdate I dont receive any errors.
  10. Yeh any changes I make in the GPO's are reflected, just sync'ing doesnt seem to work :| But the fact it works on 1 machine confuses me.
  11. I have tried all of th above and the Sync works on my laptop however it wont work when I log into other laptops, despite havgin exactly the sam GPO's aplied to it :S This is now causing me a major headache! Any one have any ideas?
  12. I have config'ed all GPO's to enable the sync center and offline files. Offline files works perfectly, however sync center doesnt, it doesnt allow me to open the sync center to view any conflicts, before we can deloy this to our students I really need to get this sorted, so any advice would be fantasic!!
  13. Ok this is going to sound STUPID, but where are the settings to do this? The Win 7 GPO's are dramatically different from the XP ones which i'm used to looking at
  14. Have got WDS configured and working perfectly, have added images and it all works fantastic. Expect I tried to deploy an image this morning and I get the following error "Windows cannot access the installation sources. Verify that the installation sources are accessible, and restart the installation".. I have checked the permissions and that the images are fine, and I have restarted the services and the machine, but still no luck.. Any ideas?
  15. Having a bit of a nightmare with Win7 & its GPO's. So was hoping you might be able to help! Basically each of our users has a home drive mapped as H:, which I need to make available offline so when they take their laptop home they can still access and work on the documents. I have managed to enable cached credentials, so they can logon at home, but when their desktop loads it errors saying the drive and their desktop is not available. Any ideas would me hugely appreciated! Thanks, Ash
