and you still can't get printers deployed? My printers have now started to appear and work after applying the changes in my post I'm not entirely sure if people are saying the September update breaks printer deployment even with all the fixes, as they came out to get around the August update I think...? Are your Point and Print GPOs in 'User' and 'Computer' for the client machines (not sure you need it on the server)? All in Computer, don't have anything in user, I have this applied to the print server also. But yes i suspect you're right and it's only needed on the clients Also, is your regedit on the clients? And the print server, its the same GPO i have used for both clients and the Print server How are your printers deployed? I deploy them from the print server, into a empty gpo

The scenario i have here now..... Server 2019 (1809) Windows 10 (1809 ltsc) Fully patched - inc Sept update (Servers and clients) Just check this GPO on the Print server: "Allow Print Spooler to accept client connections" found at: Computer---Policies---Admin Templates---Printers mines set to "Not configured" Start stop of spooler needed/or restart I have the below set in GPO for clients and the print server; Computer---Policies---Administrative Templates---Printers--- Package Point and print Approved servers - Enabled Enter fully qualified server names - Printservername.domain.name Point and Print Restrictions - Enabled Users can only point and print to these servers - Enabled Enter fully qualified server names separated by semicolons - Printservername.domain.name; Users can only point and print to machines in their forest - Disabled Security Prompts: When installing drivers for a new connection: Do not show warning or elevation prompt When updating drivers for an existing connection: Do not show warning or elevation prompt I also Have the below Reg "Fix" that from what i understand, negates the need for any of the above needing to be define..... however i still have the above set up. The below Reg entry "should" restore the printing ability, however it also makes you vulnerable to the Printnightmare vulnerability. Use at your own risk. it's worth noting that the below reg entries are not currently present.... you are creating them. I have mine to "Remove this item when it is no longer applied - Yes" which changes the Action to "Replace". So dont be confused by that. Computer---Preferences---Windows Settings---Registry Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Key path: SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Printers\PointAndPrint Value name: RestrictDriverInstallationToAdministrators Value type: REG_DWORD Value data: 0x0 (0)

So not both?

Interesting, Is this a actual Konica printer or Develop branded printer you have on site? cheers

I'd love to be in your senario right now

You made any registry gpo tweaks surrounding this issue or not? We have done anything apart from fully patch and disable print-spooler all servers except print server and clients. just to reduce the foot print. Only our IT admin team can print if logged in as Admins. I installed the sept update last night on a group of machines..... "no printers"

I'm Still gonna wait to what microsoft's official response is post sept/21 cumulative update.... on my test enviro, "no printers installed". although i haven't made any reg changes as i dont want to be vulnerable, nor have i deployed type4 drivers (not that i have them)
-
i agree with this.... Microsoft will just say "We did warn you and make you aware of the changes". this unofficial source is from 2016 https://blog.thinprint.com/the-new-microsoft-v4-printer-driver-model/

Where are bromcom upto with having this cloud based..... we also use SSO so also need to create a standard standalone user to do this...... why is pathways required?
-
We've Turned off the SIMS server now and blocked the clients with applocker. Anybody using a script to remove Solous/SIMs/Discover from their system they dont mind sharing? The clients will be re-imaged over time, just thinking of a script to help out a little

it's been the worst summer holiday in a while for us. Printnightmare Bromcom Staff launch Mychild at school with online payments SIMs 3rd party sync migration New cashless system (that works with bromcom) Summer School 3 IT rooms stripped as walls are being knocked down, all needs to go back in 3 IT rooms rewire needed cable/power Office main office admin is being refurbed, rooms repainted floors done new furniture (all it provisions removed) DT dept is also being rebuilt, so touchscreen staff computers as well as the usual starters/levers office moves (including free office interior design service) HOWEVER.... only 2 password requests edit- i did have 2 weeks off! -
I can see the manufacturers being forced to write type 4 drivers. The likes of papercut might also need to implement changes so the type 4 limitations are removed as much as possible.

[bromcom] Anybody else unable to "view" students this morning
Jaan replied to Jaan's topic in MIS Systems
PM sent -
Just curious, There's nothing on the road map, but is the due an update. Either the app installer itself or being fully integrated into the MIS browser.
-
Can i recommend that you add this to the "Status page". would have stopped a lot of confusion... https://status.bromcomcloud.com/
-
Oh really thought it was just me going mad..... we go live very soon and i suspect the staff will need access to this URl as its a valuable resource. Bromcom support...... is the load on this server ok? Guess you have a lot of people accessing it?

Hi all, had this issue on site over the past few days. thought it was a web filtering issue our end so didn't think there was an issue with bromcom. However, i'm off site at the mo on a totally standalone computer. Accessing docs.bromcom.com is intermit where it eventually times out. Anybody else having this...... just seem to be having lots go wrong at the moment so a little blinkered. Bromcom service status is fine. Sometime it loads after a little delay, but most times i just get a time out "ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED" message Anybody else?

Excellent thank you i suspect this is the issue, i'll have a chat with the staff. we're going live with bromcom from sept. With just been given access to the support module (20mins ago) so should be able to get answer from there now thanks -
We're not able to see any student details this morning (even as admin) service status reports fine, tried off domain via a independent HOTSPOT with a different user account. Anybody Else having this issue? I can see staff fine, just students......
