Using IE11 here and although the feeds section is still there, I can not see any add feed section anymore. Checking MS sites, they list how to do this upto IE8 so assume the feature has vanished. I have indeed changed those settings but still the issue is there. I just found a few articles about outlook 2013 not handling https very well. Im using 2016 in the office so guess its fixed in that one. curses.

Hello all, My current "should be easy but it being a pain" problem is as follows if anyone can help... Head calls me and says he has an RSS feed he would like to use. Its been a while since I have used RSS but after a couple of moments I remind myself how to add this in Outlook and works fine. I assure him everything is easy, goto his office and am met with an issue where it "has a problem connecting to the server" even though you can browse to it. Checked the filter logs and nothing is blocking or redirecting that I can see and wonder if it is because of the https element. I have disabled AV, granted full internet access and other ones I have tried such as ITN and CNN all seem fine. I know RSS is dying out but this is really bugging me. No servers here but if you have a half decent PC at home you can try and get a copy of VMWare workstation and play away with that. I think anything over an i3 should support virtualization and you will be good to go and play with VM and settings to your heart's content. You wont be able to go nuts but most gaming grade computers should be able to support a DC and couple of other desktops connected at once. Also nothing I have done myself for a long time but assuming you are running Windows pro, you can enable hyper-v and will have the same effect although as I said, I'm more a VMWare kinda guy so could be wrong. Also sorry to break it to you but schools can get free IT disposal so you may be out of luck on that front (incase your school thinks it needs to pay, give Stone a call)

You have learnt quickly that SLG is designed by idiots and purchased by teachers who dont know any better. After you provision them in SIMS it also runs a file on the SIMS server to pull the data over. Take a look in your Sharepoint servers scheduled tasks and take a look in program files (x86)\SIMS\adpclient\changetracking\ In there is a file called adpscheduledprocesses.exe you need to run however we have (and think capita setup as standard) a bat file for it so we can run it whenever we want to. No doubt it should be running at least once a day. Oh and just to add, you will want to visit http://localhost:1103/default.aspx on the same server which tells you what is happening in the background and if anyone has got stuck. If you are lucky you are running a modern version but the old one is a total pain in the d**k because each error pauses the entire process so good luck with that. God I hate SLG.

it is however we had no problem sending to the groups last week and for the past 2 months we have been on 365.

Morning all, Yesterday I randomly discovered that 365 users can not email an onsite group. This was working fine a few days ago but now, randomly it claims we don't have permission. I have checked the permissions and it all checks out fine and even added myself personally to the group in question but it still fails to send. Not long before this becomes an issue and wondered if anyone knew why this is happening all of a sudden? MS are in my bad books at the moment anyway and thinking I may just migrate back onsite and have done with it all. Ta

Right I give up. Im going to stop caring about deploying an OS where the manufacturer wants business to use it but makes it a total pain in the arse to manage. Why include a GP to customise the start menu if it stops working upon second login! Im going to dedicate the rest of the year to getting better at rocket league!

Forcing works correctly the first time but fails with future logins. Both local and UNC tested xml files.

It was straightforward to deploy (apart from a few things which didn't take long to overcome) but it seems more suited to staff laptop users where a roaming profile is not possible. Syncs printers, office customisation and personalisation well but just not the cursed start screen

Hello all, I posted a few days ago about the start screen not roaming due to MS turning this function off for Windows 10 (nice of them). I was sent a link to UE-V which I have setup however it does not roam the start screen either. Has anyone got Windows 10 start screen/Tiles to work for domain users? By work I mean a network user signs on to find it working, logs off and back on to find the custom xml start screen is still working and tiles are present as opposed to a blank screen. Preferably using roaming profiles however if not, can you explain how it worked. The only way to achieve this I can see is to not remove cached profiles upon logoff, leaving the tilelayout folder present in the local profile. This is all ok until users get issues (as can happen with profiles over time) and seems a risk to usability just for a nice start screen. I am [ THIS ] close to giving up on deploying Windows 10 across my school. Would LOVE to hear how this is possible. Thanks all. Im going to get lunch!

I have encountered an issue where I found the start menu does not roam (by Microsoft's design) and as I tell the machine to remove cached copies of the roaming profile when the user logs off, causes issues with blank start menu's upon subsequent logins. With that in mind, I wonder if those of you who are deploying Windows 10 to their networks can tell me how you are getting around this? Do you simply not customise the start screen at all or do you allow cached profile copies to remain on the computer? I used to find that caused alot of issues over time but would love to hear from someone who has it working. Mandatory profiles are out the question as my users (well the staff anyway) will go nuts if they have to pin items to the taskbar every time they sign in. Thank you and hope that makes sense. I see this as a real problem but some of you seem to be steaming ahead with the deployment.

Funny you say that because it almost brought me to tears last week.... Long story short (and sit down for this one....) Microsoft have stopped the ability of the start menu to be included in a roaming profile. According to them, they want each piece of hardware to be its own experience. To follow up, no i have no idea how this is going to work or how to deploy W10 anymore. Would love to hear I am wrong and was just about to post, asking for help in the matter when I saw your post. I am still looking into this and would love for someone to say "robjduk, you are being a goon... tick this box and fix it"... Problem is this.... First login the start area looks like this (note I did not have a custom start tiles applied at the time but its the same if it were). Note the file explorer and settings is present. Sign out then back in and you get this... Now I have tried redirecting the start menu to network and local places, even with EVERYBODY full access permissions and still nothing. The All Apps directs to C:\Programdata\microsoft\windows\start menu no matter what I put in group policy (user config, windows settings, folder redirection, start menu). Almost 2 days I have spent on this and if I can crack it, I am more or less ready to push this build out so and it is driving me crazy as to why this happens. All help is VERY welcome. Thanks

Hello all (again), My current Windows 10 issue I am looking for ideas for is this.... Domain user signs in and the start is customised perfectly. User signs out then back in and its gone (no tiles on display and most start menu options vanished). If the user signs out, I delete their roaming profile and they try again it works but then it repeats. Looking into the roaming profile shows almost nothing other than a couple of folders and certainly nothing to do with the start screen. Does anyone have thoughts on this at all? I have tried local and network custom XML paths and both the same, second login breaks everything. Thanks all.

Turns out I had made a rubbish .V5 default profile. Fixed that issue anyway...

Appdata fixed but bar still not working for domain users. I feel this is about to ruin my Friday.

Evening all, Working through my 10 build and just noticed the search bar will not work for students. It just sits there with "search windows" on it but nothing happens if you click on it. Is there a GP setting somewhere I need to set? Failing that, anyone know where in GP you can disable it? Using LTSB for it btw. Thanks

It is still in the early stages of testing here but using LTSB, about 10 seconds in my VM. That includes making appdata and a roaming profile from scratch. So very impressed so far. As much as I like messing with things like cortana, im happy to loose the lot if it means it is stable. They have even fixed the start menu xml to UNC path issue which i am convinced never worked with 8.1.

No doubt you can but to my understanding, it will fall out of servicing scope over time. LTSB is what it is for 10 years, giving business stability. Im using LTSB here now and it runs so quickly without any apps injected into it. Highly recommend looking into that over the enterprise version.
