Our IT team have just done an upgrade to SIMS which has pulled through a section called Programme of Study Tracking. Can anyone give me a bit more info as to what this is for and how compulsory it is to complete etc.... any new on this would be helpful. Thanks in advance Kels

Couldn't agree more! ...and to top that... I'm expected to know all its functionality without any sort of 'show and tell'. The teachers must have been shown some pretty pictures eh!

Thanks Bobsmith I went and looked at all my menus and found the Active Directory Provisioning. I'm not a big lover of SLG so far... It seems laborious and illogical to me! But then I've had no training and I'm learning as I go (Recipe for disaster I'm sure). We haven't even managed to get it to do the Data Collection Sheet thing yet! Thanks again! Kel

Hi guys I'm new to SLG and finding it hard work. We have some new students in our school and when we run the report to generate letters home to parents with usernames and passwords on it, our new students aren't being generated. Any help is appreciated! Kel

Hi garrysaddington It doesn't half feel like you're completely on your own when it comes to manipulating SIMs to produce this information. I would say i'm quite good at using and manipulating SIMs or AM7, but this one has stumped me. If i don't get this one sorted then i'm stuck doing a full two week painfully boring step by step day by day analysis, with mixture of extracting,exporting,manipulating and calculating tons of data.

Hi Kiran There's only so much that AM7 can do (As far as i know) We do have things set up that tells us how many students getting 5 A*-C etc... but subject by subect they want to know percentages getting 5A*-C and considering we do 15 to 20 subject depending on the year it all becomes a little laborious to right click above each column (aspect) to get those percenatges. If it's a case that i'm doing it the longest way then i'd appreciate your advice on the quickest.... Currently i'm right clicking on the headings and asking for grade distribution to find the percentages. I'm then having to do group filtering to find the percentages for each category (Fems,Males,SEN.FS,EAL & Eth) so as you can imagine this becomes very long winded. Each subject each year for each category. Ofcourse we do have things in place that tell us 3 levels progress ect... but i feel as though i'm having to look in several different places to compile one analysis report. Any help is appreicated Kiran

lol... Tyiell I have tried to do a spreadsheet to house analysis and i can get one to do KS3 as our students in KS3 all do the same subjects. It gets more complicated in KS4 due to their option choices etc... But yes please if you could post it or send me a copy i'd be enternally grateful!!! I would ofcourse want to pay her (in biccies) for her trouble

Hi I am currently looking for some software that can produce this kind of analysis. I currently manually create analysis from Assessment Manager7 and spreadsheets. We are a large school and this can be an extremely time consuming process, especially now that we have to produce minority analysis along side the normal analysis. We need software that can tell us: Percentage A*-C in KS4 & 5 in each subject for Assessments, Targets & FFT or Alis Percenatge 5+ & 6+ in Ks3 Subjects for Assessments, Targets & FFT This data also needs further analysis to tell us how many of these are Girls,Boys,SEN,FSM,EAL & Ethnic Minorty Students. Currently the process i'm using takes me two weeks to collate. I'm sure i'm probably doing it in a much longer way than needed. Can anyone tell me what software (if any) they use? Or how they use SIMs to generate such analysis that may cut my time spent doing our termly analysis. Any help is appreciated. Kelly

... sounds like i'm pretty much doing it a you've described. Have you figured a way within SIMS or AM7 to calculate the overall school percentage? I have set up marksheets that calculate how many students are getting 5 A*-C including and excluding E&M but as yet havent found a way of calulating (without extracting the data) a way to calculate overall how we are doing termly... if we are heading to our school target.... In need of some advice... I currently have to work out each term how our school is performing.... (Percentages KS4 5A*-C or KS3 5+ / 6+... ect...) I produce a booklet that includes how each subject is performing against FFT or in house predictions. I currently use Assessment Manager for this (as well as chance analysis to calculate 3 levels progress etc...), I slowly go through each marksheet and right click above every column that i wish to have percentage data for. This is a very time consuming job (we are a huge school) and now we have to provide the same statistics for minority groups which means using the filters on each marksheet. This in turn makes the job of Termly Analysis of data an extremely time consuming one. Can anyone advise of a quicker method to work out subject percentages using SIMS? or overall school percentages? Is there any database or software out there that i can feed data from SIMs in to allow instant analysis to be produced? ...
