  1. Well the info said the web filtering was only until October, so......
  2. Correct, you have to request the code if you are the designated person for your Trust to be able to reinstall it to your requirements, but unless you have offsite filtering already, you might as well just leave that headache til after summer once the DfE provision expires and you get them back from your Y10 students at that point.
  3. Ah thats good then. Only tested as an admin account so far so wanted to make sure I wasn't going completely mad. Bad enough finding rfid readers and cards that I can use for it an the paxton system we have
  4. Its in the link in the very first post @executiverocker "Schools and colleges will be able to keep their laptops and tablets once they have reopened."
  5. Simple query, so hopefully a simple answer. In papercut release station, there is lots of config options for changing login, display colours etc.... but is there a hidden/undocumented option to disable the "exit" button in the release station once logged in, otherwise users can close the application by accident. Wanted to check before going to the effort of working out a way to keep launching the app if accidently closed.
  6. Our users (including myself) are unable to change display names it seems, as we sync that information from AD and we locked down a lot of features in 365. Our students are not able to change their profile picture now either since Microsoft updated Teams in April.
  7. There is an existing thread that was started the other day with updated details http://www.edugeek.net/forums/office-software/215576-office-365-device-based-activation-confirmed-no-longer-activating-2.html
  8. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/office-software/215576-office-365-device-based-activation-confirmed-no-longer-activating.html Nope unless you have EES (and not OVS-EES) Device Based Activations is no more
  9. You can set the default audio output device on the PC, depending how you restricted the station it might not be something the user can do.
  10. It is me, or does the trap exit pipe seem to be high (behind the yellow topped spray bottle)
  11. Our VLSC has a licence key available for the latest version of SQL.
  12. If your using SIMS, you need SQL server which is MS, which needs a server (MS) which needs cals to connect to the file share, and Windows OS. Now if you were using a cloud based MIS maybe google is an option, but even now the licence cost isn't as bad as it used to be
  13. Depending on the subject yes, but not all schools have a 1:1 ratio of computers, so IT lessons would either be ignored or they would have to go to a suite which takes us back to the OP question
  14. We have a MAT IT Team setup, but it's rarely used by the other members of the team at different schools.
  15. If you don't want them to use Exchange, you just don't assign them the licence for it. We used the guide from here (https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/ukeducloud/2013/04/15/alumni-address-book-policy-in-office-365-education/) to create a Pupils address book that only contains other students and the Teaching staff, and apply that address book policy to their accounts when they are created.
  16. Please don't give me nightmares of the old Laptops for Teachers scheme with £700 Ergo laptops that were outspec'd by other £400 ones
  17. Just to confirm, you now have A1 Plus for Faculty as well as the A1 Plus for Students? We assign the licences via Azure based on group membership to ensure that students get the student one (and authorised apps), and staff get the Faculty ones
  18. Finally found BatWoman showing on a UK station (E4) so caught up on the 4 episodes they had aired to date. Finally I'll get to find out what happened in the Arrowverse Crisis crossover episode I had to skip
  19. Thats certainly how we've operated for the last 15 years with staff who can't understand how to bring things in "regularly" as per the agreement @enjay (well those that still have laptops which is very few now)
  20. You can't change the cached password until they are reconnected to the network. Which confused some of our staff who never brought their laptop in for months so they had a really old one working on the laptop compared to on the network
  21. If you have a staff account that you have not already assigned a Office 365 licence to, try going to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/education/products/office and entering that accounts details into the page. You should get the A1 Plus for Faculty licences applied to your tenancy after a while as per http://www.edugeek.net/forums/cloud-services/214578-ms-teams-2.html#post1836220
  22. Just finished reading the entire 8 book series of Deeds of Paksenarrion & Paladins Legacy by Elizabeth Moon Was a good series if you don't mind magical/middle age style stories.
  23. Doesn't Jitsi require you to setup a server for it in the first instance? That would put the connectivity on to the school connection to manage/ensure uptime, where as with Teams/Hangouts Meet that is down to the big data centre providers. For some it might not be a practical option depending on what server capacity they have on site, regardless of internet connectivity.
  24. I read it as they had to use a VPN to access Teams as otherwise it was not accessible locally, rather than as a security feature, based on the posters location.
  25. Isn't the difference the CALS included in each? Core - Windows Server CAL SharePoint Server Standard CAL Exchange Server Standard CAL System Center Configuration Manager Client Management License System Center Endpoint Protection Client Management License Skype for Business Server Standard CAL Enterprise - All of the components of the Core CAL Suite (listed above) Exchange Server Enterprise CAL with Services* Exchange Online with Archiving for Exchange Server SharePoint Server Enterprise CAL Skype for Business Server Enterprise CAL Windows Server Active Directory Rights Management Services CAL Advanced Threat Analytics Client Management License
