  1. It's no problem, you just need to have a chat with your account manager who can get you upgraded to Network Guardian with G3/G2 however you require. DT
  2. I suspect you are running School Guardian? DT
  3. Anytime. Let one of us know if you have any issues. DT
  4. Your disk size would depend entirely on your intended retention period and the amount of users you have. I should Imagine 40-50gb with a retention period of around six months would be entirely sufficient. If you only intend to retain a month's logs then 30Gb should be more than enough. Yes, the remote part is correct. DT
  5. You'd get away with a relatively basic system for DB and report processing. The main issue with a VM is disk based, because at any given time you may have 2 or 3 or even more VM's attempting to write to a particular disk/array at once. 1CPU 1gb Ram should suffice. DT
  6. I used to use GFI mail essentials. DT

  8. I do have experience with Sophos appliances, but I also work for Smoothwall..... They are very good, the filtering system is different and relies/relied upon URL filtering. In the associations I used to support they were very well received, and easy to configure. I did note that they required a lot of admin due to incorrectly categorised URLs, but other than that - an appliance is definitely an improvement on their software.... Naturally it wouldn't be sporting of me to omit a Smoothwall plug....... Multiple authentication methods for a start, not to mention dynamic content filtering, granular reporting, and many many methods of deployment, including VM systems, it really does speak for itself. And the above associations.... soon to be using smoothwall I'm sure the rest of the guys will provide yet more options for you to consider, so good luck and may the best filter win Have a nice weekend DT
  9. Most firewalls provide this functionality, so check with whoever takes care of it (ISP?). They should be able to do this easily and give you the information for the OpenVPN config. But as Synack kindly points out, windows server can do this too..... and you can dial-in without the need for OpenVPN client. DT
  10. Interesting philosophy, that clearly worked for him. Pay Jobs due respect - by crushing the empire he created ? The Register
  11. I'd setup a VPN solution - IPSec preferably, as it's the most secure. You'll need hardware at the school end that can deal with IPSec VPN though. Dependant on what firewall you're using, this should be able to handle what you want to do. You can then deploy OpenVPN to the staff. DT

    Parts for new pc

AMD Phenom 2 x6 (1055T) with Asus M4A89GTD pro and a Radeon HD6670 1Gb GDDR5 - would be a very good setup - get some decent RAM in there and you're ready to roll. DT
  13. This months is the ten year anniversary of our involvement in Afghanistan. BBC News - UK military deaths in Afghanistan: In images I've done two tours, and made it home albeit a little damaged from the last one. But some were not so lucky and paid the ultimate price, a number of my friends included. Not just on the 11th November do I remember these people, but everyday. I know there are people on here who share that experience. Let us remember them, for they died a soldiers death, and a honourable one. To absent friends. Honi soit qui mal y pense DT

  15. It is fiction though - no, not the dinosaurs - the quality of the camp!! It's only ever the guys in the FoBs and CoBs that get that level of comfort, Bastion is like butlins these days!!! If you're in a PB/CP you're out on a limb....
  16. Try CNT. take on all manner of support contracts, very capable and a good support team. The support there will work with you to resolve any issues, so you get the freedom you're looking for whilst still having the backup if/when required. DT
  17. I guess the cert relates to the external address of the server, and clients use it internally too? If this is the case then create a new DNS zone, (same as your external domain) and add in an mx for your mail server, change the clients to look for the "external" server address (it will reference this on the new dns zone) and voila! Resolved an similar issue I had with 2007 a while back. DT
  18. Shame the real ones don't have that build quality.....
  19. SmoothWall as a whole felt that clam just wasn't meeting the requirements of our customer base. In light of this Vipre was adopted and replaced good old clam, resulting in a system which now meets the demands of Smoothwall's ever growing customer base. On the downside yes there is a small cost for this service, but I'm sure you'll find that overall the system, and more importantly your security, is better for the change. DT
  20. HI, A customer newsletter did go out prior to the change over, I can only apologise if this never reached you. If you can PM me your details I can check our system and ensure you have what you need. DT
  21. I can vouch for European Electronique.... very very good at what they do. DT
  22. Glad to be of assistance - if you have anymore trouble just let me know. DT
  23. If you click advanced view when you edit the category group (G3) you can block search suggestions - under search engines - block search suggestions, tick the box and save the change. This should work for you. DT
  24. Arma 2: The graphics are awesome, the sounds and gampelay are very realistic, but come the #### on..... You're holding a mouse and using a keyboard - if you still can't tell the difference between fantasy and reality at that point then you're probably a butty short of a picnic me old china.... DT
