Thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into those. However, at the moment they're not an option. I am hoping to get this one working again if possible. I'm not sure it's on its way out just yet. I opened up the projector and noticed that as I took off the bulb casing a lot of white dust particles fell out. The white coating on the 'rear' of the bulb is very loose and a lot of it fell off as I took it out. I've never noticed this before with other bulbs, is it an issue or something common? Here's a picture of the area I'm referring to:

Hi there, I have a question that hopefully someone could help with. We have an Epson EMP-X5 which has started generating the lamp error signals (flashing red 'lamp' light). This is the second time it's done this, and currently has a new (50hrs used) lamp, so I am thinking the issue is the projector. Does anyone have any suggestion for me as to what I can try? It is ceiling mounted, but I regularly clean the filter and keep it as dust-free as possible. It's quite old (2008) and that's why I haven't called Epson as I'm expecting they'll tell me we need a new one (which is probably the case, I just wanted to try all other options first). Unfortunately this is one of the younger projectors in our school! So I am hoping we can keep it limping on a little more until we can afford to replace it. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I've just been told that we need to pay £507/year for their data hosting. I thought we could host it ourselves but apparently not. Is this the case or are they just telling me this to get our money?

Has anyone looked into Delicious Library? I know it's quite a left field solution but it's cheap and user friendly.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Does anyone recommend any other software? We want something the children can use themselves. As for Junior Librarian.net we wouldn't be wanting to pay the support costs (£507/year) and it's already expensive enough so we definitely are expecting a lot out of it if we get it!

Hi there. Our school is looking into getting Junior Librarian. It seems very expensive to me and perhaps overkill for our school. Does anyone know of alternative solutions? Also, for those who have tried Junior Librarian, would you recommend it? Thanks!

Hi all, I am the ICT support technician at a Primary School with approx 300 students in Yorkshire. The school has an external support company which provides printers, laptops, desktops, and on-site support. Early next year our contract with them is expiring and I have been asked to get some quotes from at least 3 companies for the governing body to decide on. I don't like having a waiting period for problems I can solve myself and much prefer doing that for everyone's sake. Whenever I have to call them out for help it is almost always because I've realized I have too much on my plate (I work 25 hours a week and my role is quite broad) and we may as well use them! I am able to solve most problems myself, though in some areas I am not 'supposed to', or unfamiliar with the set up provided by our outside company so it's easier to get them to come in. I have 2 questions for anyone who would care to pipe in. 1. Have you any experience with particular outside support companies in the Yorkshire area and any you would recommend? 2. From day one I have felt a little restricted in supporting the school as best I can so I am considering asking for more responsibilities and freedom in my role (and probably more hours to cope with it) and feel like this is a good opportunity to do so. Has anyone been in a similar situation before? Thanks, this is a great forum!

Hi, we have a portable AV trolley with a projector, laptop, etc. It's a bit scruffy because we use books to prop up the projector to get the right angle (the 'leg' won't adjust enough). My question is if anyone has any thoughts for what we could do instead? We are looking at maybe building something simple and adjustable, but aren't really sure where to start. Thanks!

Hi all. I have done a search and not found anyone with a similar problem to what we're experiencing. One of our smartboards will randomly change to the rubber, often while the teacher is writing/drawing on the board. It's not always the case though, as I've seen the rubber icon appear suddenly when the board and computer are unused. As you can imagine this is infuriating to the teacher, as he'll lose his work as he's writing, and the only way to fix it is return the pen, pick up the rubber, then put it back again. Any ideas?

Hi. In our school we have a LOT of devices that take AA and AAA batteries and I'm trying to figure out a system of keeping track of who has what. Staff will also take batteries themselves when I'm not at my desk (fairly often). I was just wondering if/how you manage your rechargeable batteries?
