Before the half-term holidays I began to feel pain in my elbow (mainly on the bit that sticks out of the outside edge)... Since I have been doing less around the school and trying to hide in my office more, I guess I have been sitting at the computer for longer (it didn't really occur to me but that's all I can put it down to), I mean given my job it's not like I haven't sat at a computer for hours on end previously (maybe it's just my age)... It doesn't seem to hurt much whilst using a mouse, only when I straighten or stretch my arm afterwards, I also play a lot of guitar and similarly can feel it when I stop. Anyway, it got so bad that it was even painful to lift anything with that hand, as squeezing my fingers together to hold something is enough to immediately make me want to let go. I thought it would ease over the holiday, but unfortunately I had quite a lot of DIY which meant I couldn't really rest it, so it is still as bad as it was. Now, I'm obviously not a doctor, but I diagnosed myself with some sort of RSI/Tennis Elbow and thought I'd research if a vertical/ergonomic mouse would help. Actually going to the doctor would probably result in them saying I need to rest it, which again given my job is not actually going to happen... Anyone had anything similar and found that these mouse designs actually help? EDIT: Not an actual photo of me....

Now that is odd... I almost advised ps/2 but thought you'd say it didn't have ps/2 ports! If an old school mouse and keyboard don't work either I'd be stumped too. I'm sure I read somewhere you might need USB 1 ports for 32bit. What's the computer? If you can find x86 drivers for the motherboard it is quite easy to add to the install .wim iirc (it's a while since I did it, but if I managed it can't be too difficult)!

Is it likely that a Windows 10 32bit x86 OS wouldn't have the correct USB/chipset drivers for that motherboard? EDIT: Any other BIOS options available to turn off (UEFI) or turn on (Legacy)...

If you are on the right network, your GPOs have applied, you are signed into Google with the correct account and the correct settings (set to approve with approvers) are in Google for those accounts then I can't see why...

OK, not sure why that is if there have been no changes to any of those things... When you are on YouTube and signed in to Google do you get this at the bottom of the list when you click on your initials? Edit: Also have you checked all your Google settings are still as they should be?

How is your Youtube restricted? We have LGfL (default strict restricted I think for anything not logged in to Google) and then Google (obviously once logged in) for different levels/approvals.

Is every video actually watchable by all users though or not?

What are you asking then? I still have an 'Approve' button for general videos that haven't been approved... For example any of 'Toyah & Robert's Sunday Lunch' such as: NSFW! But videos that haven't streamed yet there is still no button on this one (as it says it's watchable): Yet there is a button on this one: Edit: Not sure they are 'live' videos though (I think maybe just pre-recorded)?...

It is possible that in a year or so energy rates might become more stable and so the unit prices might reduce back to reasonable levels* and so the expected calculation on supposed 'extra' future savings will be null and void. However, at least you would have factored in a 3 year static cost for your budget as opposed to variable energy prices (hopefully the next contract period wouldn't be at an extortionate rate as once you'd made the move and got rid of your kit you're pretty much stuck in the cloud). *Of course on the other hand... they may not!

OK, so just to update this thread (because I know you're all on the edge of your seats) and offer a solution to anyone else in the unlikely event they are trying to put such an old OSX on an even older Macbook Pro... Here is an edited/extended version of the P.M. I sent to @Norphy to thank him for the help... Well, that was absolutely mental! Windows 10 just flat out didn't like the ISO, so had to try and find a decent (non spyware/virus infested) ISO tool... only to realise it was too big to burn on a standard DVD and no DL ones handy... honestly can't remember the last time I burnt a DVD. The restore to DVD on the Mac wouldn't work either (possibly because the disk wasn't large enough thinking about it), it just wouldn't let me select it as a destination and every time I clicked on it, it just took me to the page that asked me if I wanted to erase it or something (it was brand new) and I couldn't drag it or select it any other way. Anyway, in the end I managed with 7-zip to get the installESD.dmg file out of the InstallMacOSX.dmg I had downloaded. Tried all sorts of ways to get it to load wasted more time on various forums and mac 'advice' pages suggesting all sorts of other software and writing just some of the files of the ISO to a DVD disk swapping and using boot software (which is actually impossible on a Macbook Pro with no eject button and no way to remove the boot DVD with the keyboard if the DVD with the boot software on is still running - should I admit I pulled the Macbook apart and then booted it and lifted the 'super drive' out to stop the disk spinning and remove it with pliers...? Nope... ), usb boot software just wouldn't allow it to boot (something to do with the USB being on an internal hub).... so still no luck.... In the end it was actually very simple (if you have the correct equipment) as I came across a post in a forum from years ago (obviously) by someone who does this a lot and he said he keeps all his older images on a Firewire disk to restore on Macs that don't USB boot... Then it hit me, I have a 15+ year old caddy that does firewire (even though it has an old IDE connection inside and luckily had an old IDE disk in it), because I never throw anything away! Managed to do the 'restore' to the disk in there and rebooted... chose the Firewire disk and it seemed to do something, but chucked it back to the recovery partition choices screen, so I thought I might just give up... but on the off chance just one last time I chose 'Install Lion' and it didn't take me to the internet this time, it just started installing!!!! So, now it has finished and I can get to testing what I originally wanted it for (if I can get my head round how to work the damn thing)!

Thing is you would possibly have to redact the school name which on most might be the main focal point...? Our pupil one is very boring, just a block colour with the logo in the bottom right hand corner. That's the only one I control, I don't mandate the teachers and office staff - they can do what they want...

It might be red herring as that may not be a device, it may be service or mapped drive/resource... For example, I have a weird error that I can't seem to get rid of as I use Outlook on my PC (and I remembered another reason I took off some of the auditing) and whenever I open outlook, one of my accounts (LGfL one from the account name in the error messages) hits my DC and produces loads of 4768 Audit Failure events (this happens a few times throughout the day as well). It must have something to do with AutoDiscover, but I've done all sorts of registry tweaks to try and stop it (but failed) and I have no idea why Outlook on my computer hits up my DC for any kind of authentication (we don't use a local Exchange or anything like that). It doesn't seem to be requesting a log-on and so isn't ever getting locked out (because there is no account to 'lock out') it's just a Kerberos ticket request, but just be aware that all sorts of things that 'talk' to the server and may use account credentials to try to log-on. EDIT: Drove me mad at first trying to work out what it was and whether I'd used that email address to authenticate anything with, but it gives me my computer's I.P. address in Network Information and it happens everytime I log on to Outlook so...

Thing is I've always had a slightly (un)healthy dislike of children and their germs (why am I working in a school again?), so I haven't had to modify my behaviour that much!

I don't wear a mask, but purely because I don't put myself at more than a very slight risk (in fact I have flatly refused on occasion), I mean I do have to walk down corridors, but I can almost do one end of the school to the other whilst holding my breath (it's a small school, I'm not a champion free diver or anything) but I try to time that whilst the children are in lessons. I don't go to meetings, go into classrooms or go into the hall whilst children are there, I do carry an alcohol wipe with me if I need to use handles (still use alcohol gel on my return - at least that's my excuse when people smell alcohol on me) and gloves when touching computers/laptops... Nobody is allowed in the office and those that try are ushered out with a smile and we'll go into the library where I can get some distance from them. If children are scared of a mask, why don't you get one with a nice friendly smile on it...?

It does mess with our dogs waking times though I have to admit... they are ex-racing greyhounds we rescued and are used to getting up very, very early normally with sunrise or at least 5 a.m. After the first couple of days it seemed that we had adjusted and they hadn't, which technically meant that although they were up at 5 a.m. it was actually 6 a.m. so although we lost an hour it weirdly makes it OK... Have I got that right...? Even I'm confused... On another note we had radio controlled clocks bought for all the classroom/offices, but unfortunately due to our building very few of them actually receive the signal...

Or have your download/bandwidth/hosting site overrun by hoards of Macbook users wanting to install an 11 year old OS on their 16 year old machines... wait I forgot, they aren't Windows users...

Yes, that's true in my OP I mentioned I'd downloaded the 'Lion.dmg', of course I forgot to mention that was on my Windows PC and it's called InstallMAcOSX.dmg and I've just had a thought that 7Zip might open it... which it has... and I can see the InstallMacOSX.pkg file! It's just the rest of it that appears to need a working Mac (or can it all now be done from the 'Disk Utility' in the Base OSX that loads up)? But, I wonder if there is anything else to stop me using it this way (could I just write that to a DVD or I might have PLOP boot from USB somewhere - if it works on a Mac)?

Many thanks for taking the time to detail all this for me, I do appreciate it! Nothing more frustrating that going round in circles especially with an OS you're not familiar with... Windows can be cryptic at times but with MacOS, I really have no clue why it isn't letting me do what I want (especially as it is randomly refusing to format a disk or unmount it etc).... Sad to say I've got so used to downloading an ISO and whacking it on any old computer, this just baffles me... Unfortunately there were obviously some steps I missed as (unlike your thorough explanation) I guess the internet guides assume that one is familiar with the Mac OS. What is more unfortunate is that I'm falling at the first hurdle... 'Step 1) On a handy Mac'... because this is the only Mac in the building, so I'm guessing the other steps are a moot point... and also the fact that it seems Apple didn't reach the 21st Century until after this Macbook 'Pro' was produced and there is no USB boot on this model (apparently)... EDIT: Just seen the DVD option... but without a Mac inc. DVD writer, I think I'm still stuck?!

After spending a couple of hours on this yesterday afternoon, (although I have to admit I'm not sure it's worth the effort - long story short, I need a Mac to do some testing for another issue, so I dug out an old Macbook that's been sat in the cupboard for a few years)... There are a few more things to try before I admit it beat me, but to save me time that I don't really have does anyone know how to get the Mac OS back onto a Macbook Pro (A1211 - 2006'ish). I thought I had a fairly good grip on what to do (only internet searches as I'm no Mac daddy for sure)! Got into Disk Manager (sorry 'Utility') wiped the disk and tried to do a 'Reinstall Mac OS X' from an online thing... but apparently my Apple ID is too new or something and can only download later versions... So, I downloaded a Lion.dmg file and researched what to do (after realising it won't USB boot), which is restore an image or something, which I try and get various error like 'cannot unmount disk', 'source busy', 'couldn't resize partition', then it asks to scan the image and tells me 'resource busy'.... in fact I lost count of the amount of ways it told me it couldn't do what I wanted...
