How many of you support others? e.g expanded IT support services
russdev replied to a topic in General Chat
cheat.... Ok if we are doing that then think might beat you by a few -
Point is if someone is going to say that name is not correct to use then they can say that name is abuse lets take it to court where legal system can decide and more importantly parents have a right to appeal. I have no issue with Law but law should decide if name is ok not a civil servant and every time parent should have some right to appeal. Russ

hmmm what if law had been enforced in 1800's half names that are normal today would not be allowed or even 20 years ago Jayden as name did not exist. Sorry not decision of anyone other than parent no matter how mis guided... Now if saying naming someone in your example bed spring is abuse then use that law and bring it before a judge etc. However for single person to decide sorry they may decide that name Jane can't be used because of his ex-wife/mother law/their high school maths teacher (you get the idea). Think your quote hit nail on head it is schools specific as I have been involved and seen where students "have parents who are divorced/remarried/dont care/invovled in drink and drugs." and it has been a great success. .net 3 contains 2 and 3 however 4 only contains version 4. So if have software that needs 3 or 2 then installing just 4 will not work.

To be honest its just a natural progression of language.. Below is an interesting article on the BBC about every day words we use that come from america. BBC News - Viewpoint: Why do some Americanisms irritate people?

Do you see online parental engagement as part of your VLE...

Do you see online parental engagement as part of your VLE...
russdev replied to beeswax's topic in MIS Systems
Parental engagement is not about portals or vles. Engagement is about multi approach as been said before Primary schools are prime examples of this (the book that goes home to parents is parent engagement). Its a whole school approach... Russ -
Wow a sweeping statement but based on thestudents in 10+ years that I have come across that is a very incorrect statement. Maybe your students but not the whole population of the British schools. Many schools have one device per child and has worked in UK. The key to me is bring your own device where student owns the device like OP said with his project.. Russ

However google won't keep pumping money into g+ if not getting money back and of course to get money back it needs to get people from Facebook to view those nice adsense ads and so we are back to Square one.. Google will change its mind when mass exodus from Facebook dosn't happen and g+ not making enough money...

As said lots of schools around world have gone down a touch screen device (be that Ipad or whatever) per student and they have been very successful. Sadly people look at this as one or the other instead of desktops, laptops and yes even Ipads all having there place. Again lots of good examples of where Ipad can improve teaching and learning.. So first we have what of waste of tax payers money so then schools get parents to pay hmm and people still not happy.. Then I do remember same conversation about laptops. Sadly people look for ways not to use equipment instead of looking for ways of using them. Russ

I suppose as been said on one hand people can't get too bothered about celebrities having their phoned hacked. But people can sympathizer with parents of Milly Dowler who were not famous by choice but by need.. Russ

RM Virus Protect vs LEA Sophos
russdev replied to maestromasada's topic in Network and Classroom Management
What I will say if there was a candidate for most support non-supported piece of software by RM Sophos would be it. As they provide good discount to the LEAs to get into the schools. However which software is best that a different matter... Russ -
Hi Martin Usually Impero will add in your port exceptions If using windows firewall strange if windows firewall not allowing Impero client through. Russell
-
That isn't the case Impero is one off cost and then support is yearly and depending on money available could get 2/3 years support as part of initial deal. Once got software you own it and you only need support for technical support, remote training or updates to the software (get years support as standard etc). Let me know if anything I can do etc Russell
