  1. Yup - Give Simon at CP Ltd. a go - he's just sorted us out a great quote (and now order!) on a couple of Dell servers we needed PDQ. So should definately get him to quote you happy! Seems to be able to beat Dell into cutting their profit margins!
  2. Perfectly pitched responses I think. I tried not to reply... and failed... makes me so angry!
  3. Use .internal here, as .local is used with Zeroconf/Bonjour etc. - Easier not to use school domain unless your hosting authoritive DNS servers for your domain, which I believe very few, if any, schools do for sch.uk domains. Otherwise you'll get into issues with websites etc. We use schoolname.internal here. Exchange isn't an issue as AD domain name isn't tied into SMTP domain name.
  4. Exchange 2007 System Requirements Running here on 2008 x64, dual Intel X5450, 4GB RAM - serving 2000-odd users, quite heavily used, running like a dream. Amazing migration from Ex 2003 to new box, in new AD forest, was absolute dream as well.
  5. Yup - registered the other day.
  6. Have you got a KentTrustWeb link or something to information on this Steve? We weren't aware KCC has such a license?!!
  7. We looked into this before, and the basicly the answer is no - see Glen's Exchange Dev Blog: Adding Document Favorite links for Direct File Access in OWA 2007 via a script for a vague workaround. In the end we just setup an Adito server, working brilliantly.
  8. Yes it does - can be turned into a PDF and published to ePortal using Document Storage. We do it here, though are moving back to SIMS from CMIS in September.
  9. There is definitely something afoot...
  10. Index and whole site appears as HTML here, not PHP. Have you checked the hosting account to see if PHP is enabled? Try putting the following code into a text editor, saving it as a PHP, then uploading it: If the web server isn't showing it as existing, then maybe it's a permissions issue?

    WooHoo!

    Congratulations! Well done!
  12. N97 is pretty swish - on Vodafone around July. Magic is a bit of an unknown quantity - HTC make brilliant phones (Touch HD is brilliant, best phone out there), and Android seems to be a good OS, but pretty unproven, and G1 didn't help with sub-par hardware. Shame O2 have the exclusive on the Palm Pre as well.
  13. Presume this is the Foundation training? Login to Firstline first, then try following this link Serco Support
  14. Talk to your project manager at Serco - they DO have training data.
  15. Windows 7 x64 on my Core i7 runs like a beauty! Frequently asked questions about Windows XP Professional x64 Edition - should answer your question though - it's licensed for 2 physical processors, regardless of cores.
  16. Morning Couple of quick questions for anyone who uses Adito out there. 1) Is it possible to remove the "tooltip" that appears for a normal users under Network Places. If you hover over it, it gives you information such as path, settings etc. Not mission critical, but the sort of thing we'd rather students didn't see. 2) I take it it's not possible to have a domain DFS share as a Network Place? Just comes up blank here! Many thanks.
  17. Staff are firstinitial.surname e.g. f.bloggs Students are 2digit-year-of-entry, Surname, First initial. .e.g. 08BloggsJ (Surname first makes easier to find in lists/email groups etc.) If two with the same initial, then second letter of first name used - 08BloggsJo

    Cake

Ditto - I haven't had to actually buy any JD in 5 year, the staff make sure I have a constant supply!
  19. Fliggo is more personalised. From a school PoV, rather than an EG one, the MASSIVE bonus for us is having control over who can see the videos, and the ability to import from YouTube, so YT can stay banned due to some of the inappropriate content.
  20. We've just started piloting Fliggo as well - so far looks brilliant.
  21. BBC NEWS | Education | Architects vet new school designs More Government oversight on a floored idea doesn't bode well.
  22. No, burn both... OK... to give a slightly more reasoned argument after a few bourbons LOL. * Their software doesn't complement the network, it takes it over. Students don't get a real-world idea of IT because "Workspace Explorer" takes it over. * Trying to do anything innovative with your network becomes an akin to Chinese water-torture, as CSE takes away your control. * The company are 99% pushy salesmen, and 1% technical. CSE, not unlike RM to be frank, hark back to the day when school IT was simple, a few applications, a couple of IT rooms, IT Manager didn't exist, Head of ICT did it all, just needed very simple tools to create users, when something above the day-to-day was needed, quite rare in that set up, it could wait till the company came out to do it. CSE is just simply not necessary, wanted, or fit-for-purpose, in modern day IT-centric schools. It lasted about 3 months after I took the job before all their contracts were cancelled, and the network ripped out.
  23. W7 plays Blu-Ray fine for me in PowerDVD, not sure which version it is though, didn't think it was the latest, Nvidia 260 graphics.
  24. Yes, you have to create a new forest with a different name. Remembering that the NetBIOS name must be different to for ADMT to work. Transitioning your current domain across should be pretty straight forward. Also remember to raise your Forest and Domain Functional Level to Server 2008 once your last W2k3 DC has been changed. The main reason we did an ADMT move was because of various non-MS schema updates that had been done etc., they'd even had CC3 once and had those schema entries, so we felt a clean start was best.
