Are you printing on A4 paper? Our printers are set to delete jobs that aren't the correct paper size.

How much, when and where?

On desktops I've setup a batch of accounts that are only for exams, in a separate OU so I can apply custom GPOs against them. Each of these accounts points to a mandatory profile I created with almost everything locked down on it, no including memory stick access. The desktop is bright yellow too so we spot if anyone is using a different account.

Yep, just downloaded it. 560Mb iso

How about a scheduled task about 30 mins later: net view > pcslefton.txt combine this with bmail to email the log to yourself.

For exchange I use trusticos rapidssl certs. Trusted in ie6,7 and firefox 2 Not bad at 9 quid a year + vat Instructions on the website on installing the certs too.

They are great at identifying the problem frequencies, its can be lot more difficult to try and find the cause. It can be a case of turning everything off, then turning one thing at a time back on until the interference comes back. Even then it could be something in the surrounding environment.

A few years ago the government set up a body called IPAS (Independent ICT Procurement Advisory Service), to train schools on purchasing ICT equipment. Unfortunately IPAS no longer exists, but I do have a copy of their sample documentation. In the zip attached: Example of a procurement statergy document Procurement process flowchart Procurement process checklist Model invitation to tender Model contract award letter Model regret letter Plus some other useful stuff Should save you from reinventing the wheel. ipas.zip

If they haven't got VLANS configured on them, they should just work as a bog standard switch. If they do have VLANS configured you'll probably need a console cable, the console password and the reset instructions. Resetting the password Resetting Catalyst Switches to Factory Defaults If you need a console cable, let me know, I might have a spare knocking around.

£200K is about £110 per pupil (Although about half of it will actually be on staff) Our school receives its money in quarterly amounts from the LA. I've never been asked to wait until the next payment comes in. Replacements and most upgrades are part of a 3 year plan. Most years though we have extra things - this year more P16 PCs as it 6th form is growing.

Have a look a Symantec - Backup Exec Continuous Data Protection Only backs up changes to files, and runs all the time so bandwidth should be minimal - also allows bandwidth throttling.

Just had ours approved 200K for replacement, expansion, licensing, etc And a budget to buy inks / toners / other bits and bobs - all of which we bill back to the departments, so in effect it should balance out each year.
