Bit of the sledge hammer approach but if you implemented IPv6 the concept of sharing a public IP goes. Each client will have it's own IP and these kind of things will be prevented.

We are 100% laptops and docks. I wouldn't get generic ones. They can be problematic. The docks from the big manufacturers work great.

Not what you're asking but could be helpful for next time. You can specially ask Lenovo to have a base Windows install with no extras. It just needs the reseller to add a SKU to the order.

We have a DHCP server with nearly 100 scopes and 1 NIC. You use IP Helper-Addresses on your Layer 3 switch. It would be physically impossible to have a NIC in each VLAN as the server is hosted in a data centre thousands of KM away from the site.

I think I am just going to pay for it. I can claim the tax back (it is used to assist my training as it is related to my job) so not all bad.

So basically it will be a standard consumer Gmail account (with drive etc) but with a custom domain?

If you manage to get it onto unsupported hardware, what happens in future upgrades? There could a risk of your computer not booting...

We install 1 at every desk a computer is installed. For us there isn't a need for anymore, only the computer is being connected. We don't use physical phone anymore. If you did most of them let you pass through a data connection anyway.

That wouldn't solve the issue would it? The child is logging in at home on their personal device. One way would be to use your identity provider (if it has that facility). For example in ADFS and Azure Conditional Access you could limit logins for a particular OS to be only allowed in a particular IP range. We did this when I was in education for younger children so that weak passwords wouldn't be vulnerable to external logins.

Regardless of the make, it's not unheard of for power supplies to go. I managed to blow up a brand new Cisco PSU in spectacular fashion whilst plugging it in. It made a hell of a bang! If you don't have any spares I would get one. If another breaks and you get caught short with the supply chain issues you might be in trouble!

It doesn't like DNS to me. Are the clients picking up the correct DNS server and is that server responding correct?

They have similar rules in Australia and it does cause accidents, especially for cars coming around corners. I have seen a couple of near misses. How would this work on roundabouts? Does the entire lot stop because someone wants to cross at one of the exits?

There will be the stock standard safeguarding question. They will give you a scenario of a child who has been abused and it has come to your extension and they will ask what you will do. It's generally a case of not making promises to the child that you will keep it a secret and follow the schools safeguarding policy. If you download and read the policy and outline what it says that will impress them.
