Had mine done not long after I moved in five years ago (already had a gravel front garden but no dropped kerb). The council sent me a list of approved contractors, I contacted several to get quotes and it only took a week or two. Pretty straightforward in the end.

Did this three years ago - used the G Suite Migration for Exchange. Ours was Exchange 2003 so even older! All went smoothly, staff had been asked to sort through and delete unneeded emails (so that didn't happen, obviously) but we ran through the mailbox transfer in batches and everything copied over fine except a few emails with large attachments. Kept a copy of the Exchange server just in case but never needed to retrieve anything. Once emails were transferred and domain name switched over all worked perfectly.

The Riso ones we have are basically giant inkjet printers, much more economical (in both page costs and electricity) at the cost of print quality. We had Ricoh laser copiers before that, and some were fine but others had an engineer out every couple of weeks.

Not as good quality as a laser, but much faster. We've got three that the teachers use for the majority of printing, had them for a few years. I think we've only had a couple of engineer call outs in that time, much better than the Ricoh ones they replaced!

We dont have 1:1 but started five or so years ago with a batch of Samsung 303 Chromebooks which were okay but prone to screen damage, lost keys etc. At Christmas we bought another batch, this time Asus C202 - which are designed for schools so rugged, splashproof etc. All seems to be great with them so far, except the fact no-one wants to book the old ones when the new ones are available!

Work keys are just that - keys for work, plus a coprolite keyring (proof you can polish a turd if you apply enough time and pressure) "Home" keys have a small pocket knife on them along with the house and car keys.

In 1999 when I was a poor uni student, I bought a second hand Laserjet II. Weighed an absolute ton (probably more than all the rest of the stuff in my room put together, furniture included) and had already done about 150,000 pages but got me through uni and a couple of house moves before I finally scrapped it. Beast of a machine, never let me down but I swear the lights used to dim when it started up...

Always been the sole IT tech here (though assistance when needed from our MIS/database admin), independent prep school with around 300 pupils. Relatively quiet here at the moment as it's half term, though already this week I have helped our maintenance team replace bulbs in the hall stage lights, rearranged furniture in the IT office, replaced the cache module in the backup VM host and re-replicated the VMs, cleaned projector filters, and tested the backup archive. And it's only Wednesday morning... Also was supposed to have a meeting with the bursar regarding the new photocopier lease amongst other things, but he's too busy!

Thanks - current unit's monthly volume is less than 20k on average so the Olivetti will cope with that. We've been exploring different companies and what they offer and have narrowed it down to these two.

Wondering if anyone out there uses either a Xerox C60 / C70, or an Olivetti MF554 copier? We've got two proposals to replace our current Ricoh Pro C5100 in our reprographics room. There's not much to choose in terms of spec or costs between the two, so would appreciate any feedback on either if you've used them.

Done a fair few repairs since then! I've added some allen keys & security screwdriver bits. Also replaced the ratchet screwdriver but only because I lost the other one somewhere.

Will be making my first trip to BETT on Wednesday, only taken 13 years of working in a school to get the chance!

Would go perfectly with my Very PC lanyard & memory stick from Edugeek meeting at Leicester a couple of years ago!

As far as I can recall, we've not sent a fax (or received one that wasn't "spam") for a long time. The fact it took a year to notice it didn't work speaks volumes!

We finally got rid of our fax machine recently, when someone realised that - in the process of upgrading to IP phones last year - the fax line had been disconnected...

Used PRM before but now use Stone, they provide free disposals over a certain amount and can offer money back if there is anything usable. Not sure how much though, as the only stuff they've collected from us was marked as "not working".

I'm glad they're still available too. Yesterday I had to transfer a large amount of money from my building society ISA to my current account (with a different bank). My only options were cheque or cash - the building society will not transfer electronically from their savings accounts to another bank. As this was several thousand pounds I didn't fancy the short walk between branches carrying that much cash, so cheques are the only choice.
